smoking

Avatar n tn t tell they were until this lady literally exhaled the smoke almost in my face as she walked by and I definitely inhaled some second hand smoke -- it was that strong. I literally had to get off the phone and ask them were they serious. I just got a new job and will be expected to take a drug test next week. I normally wouldn't think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by.
Avatar f tn I was even told by the doctor the risks of quitting were higher then cutting down due to stress so i was told to cut back as much as possible and quit later if possible. My sister was also around second hand smoke her entire pregnancy with both of her boys and they came out healthy too. Of course smoke is obviously not the best thing in the world but if you are worried about risks to your baby, you should talk to the doctor. Maybe your doctor will have some suggestions for you. hope this helps.

Avatar f tn Look if you're that worried about your baby then seriously just stop going over there. Think about it if you will. It's terrible that your gma is like that but if she is indeed like that then just stop going over there. She obviously doesn't care to stop so just stay home and try to stay occupied. Your babies health is of the utmost importance.

Avatar n tn Ive tried explaining to him that second hand smoke can be just as harmful but he doesnt wanna believe me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it in his head that its important that he stops? Has anyone been thru a similar situation? How bad is second hand pot smoke?

Avatar f tn And what you read is correct. THC will NOT be in your system at detectable levels from typical 2nd-hand smoke exposure. The THC in your system was as a result of your smoking mariuana for 2 weeks.
9126885 tn?1404418392 so, doctors will obviously recommend that a woman not smoke during pregnancy. But second hand smoke is probably more along the lines of the first poster. The same as being around second hand cigarette smoke. Not great but not like smoking it yourself. Once should be fine.
Avatar f tn My partner still smokes and I get his second hand smoke I tell him not to but he says its hard lol I'm early on in pregnancy like 14 weeks and find it kinda disrespectful at times so I can totally understand where you are coming from hun
Avatar f tn I would not. Hookah still has nicotine. I am also a firm believer that people should not smoke cigarettes while pregnant as well. I know back in the day people would drink & smoke when pregnant buuuut I'm all about preventing exposure to those things to my baby while in the womb. My husband smokes cigarettes like a chimney and I told him he won't even be allowed to carry our baby after smoking.
1057060 tn?1266513126 t cleaned to house from top to bottom and her husband still smoked even if it was outside. There is a risk of third hand smoke they have found out which is in the home and on clothing even if in not direct sontact with teh smoke. More chance of ear infections, low immunity, colds atc. Avatar f tn Your asthma is probably slowly getting worse because of the second-hand smoke exposure. Have a serious discussion with your parents about quitting for your health (do it with your doctor if needed or another adult to have support).. You didn't say how old you are, you may need to seriously think about moving out if possible to remove yourself from the toxic environment.
Avatar n tn t test positive and even if they were to pick up a trace they could tell by the levels of it was ingested or second hand. Either way to be honest I smoked my whole pregnancy with my 2ND daughter and only stopped the month before I was due and never had a problem (I'm not suggesting picking the habit back up ijs you shouldn't worry) I do however avoid all smoke with this pregnancy and definitely don't permit it in my house or car.
Avatar f tn and i have been doing just fine and i couldnt go 2 hours with out a cigg before hand...second pregnancy and second time i have quit cold turkey just for my little peanuts =] i know it may be difficult, but try to think of something else that could take its place....try sucking on lollipops?? or one specific candy to eat!
Avatar f tn its jus smoking & second hand smoke you jus gotta worry about. more of second hand smoke tho.
Avatar n tn To stop smoking during pregnancy is a personal choice. Its like when people die from second hand smoke faster than the smoker or people who smoke and get cancer and others who smoke live longer. No one chances are the same. Just because other people had successful pregnancies while smoke don't mean u will or u won't. Its a matter of choice. I've nevered smoked no one in my immediate family does but my boyfriend family does and I don't go over there while I am pregnant.
Avatar f tn s only a correlational study, so there is no proof of cause and effect, but all we know is that there is a link between the two things(second hand smoke and behavioral problems). Though I wouldn't doubt that the chemicals in second hand smoke can alter a child's brain chemistry, which could easily lead to behavioral problems. If you google "effect of second hand smoke on children" you'll get many results about this topic. It is also posted on Webmd, among other sites.
Avatar m tn Today I had a cough, however this time it wasn't dry because my throat was irritated, however I didn't cough up enough to spit it out and see how it looks. In 2 weeks I'm scheduled to meet my GP because of other problems (slight vertigo, slightly elevated blood pressure, urine test came with little bacteria and sand in it). My body temperature is below 37 C. I'm living with my mother who smokes but as much as possible I avoid exposure to second-hand smoke.
