Avatar n tn I recently went on a a 7 day cruise and wore the scopolamine patch from the first day and changed at 3 days. A total of 2 patches. I removed the patch the day I got home within 24 hours of removal I became very ill vomiting and nauseated. This continured throughout the next day. I called the Dr. and she told me to take dramamine. I remembered I had one patch left so I applied the patch again. Within 3 hours I was feeling better and that next day began to feel better.
Avatar f tn Scopolamine is one of a group of drugs called anti-cholinergics. It is used primarily for the prevention of motion sickness. It can cause dryness of saliva and mucus and might help reduce the amount of mucous. You state that your asthma is, "...always out of control because of all this mucus". That could be true, especially if the mucus originates in the upper airways, rather than your lungs.
Avatar f tn Zofran 8 mg that dissolve and scopolamine patches the only thing that saved me.
Avatar f tn In that light I might try scopolamine- skin patches are sold over the counter and are placed on the skin behind the ear-- place your right over the.... that was going to be a joke, sorry-- they don't have to be on any particular area of skin, even though many people think they go behind the ear to affect motion centers there.. but that spot is chosen only because it is a good area with little hair to get in the way.
Avatar n tn It seems clear that the meclizine taper is the way to go to get off of the transdermal scopolamine patch and I will attempt it. In this scenario, from what I've read, Zofran does not appear to be an essential part of the taper. I have also read elsewhere on the web (not only here) that lamictal together with magnesium sulfate is sometimes used to combat the withdrawal symptoms. I saw one person mentioned lamictal but rejected it as a possible solution. Here is my question.
Avatar f tn s PCP) prescribed scopolamine patches, which were the nearest I ever got to relief, but the neuromaniac said to stop all anti-dizzy drugs, or else the vestibular rehabilitation therapy would be thwarted. Avatar n tn I have been getting light brown skin patches on my lower cheeks (lower jaw, about midway to the ear) my chest (mid sternum) and my dorsal lower arm just cephalic to the wrist. These patches of tawny colored skin seem to be enlarging, and while they are exposed to the sun I felt they may be diet or Thyroid related. My first thought was that they were related to a vitamin or mineral deficiency. I currently take Liothionine (Sp?. IE:T-3) and Synthroid, Thyroid replacements.

Avatar f tn They are appear to have a circular/semi-circular shape. The shik has become lighter in these patches. These patches are not itchy, not raised, not dry/rough, and not firm. I've recently started back at hockey, but I'm not sure if my equipment is causing it.
Avatar f tn Hello, One possibility for these dark red patches can be pityriasis rosea. Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and itching. Initially, a primary plaque, called a herald patch, is seen. Then it is followed by a distinctive, generalized rash 1-2 weeks later.

Avatar n tn Vitiligo is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. As a result, white patches appear on the skin in different parts of the body. Diagnosis can be confirmed by external examination, blood tests to check skin cell count for melanocytes and biopsy of the skin patches. My sincere advice is to consult a dermatologist and get both these possibilities evaluated. Hope it helps.
