scopolamine side effects

While I am curious about this, mostly because it is not listed under side/adverse effects,it is not my priority concern.What I am alarmed about is that the alternate eye loses the ability to adjust in any manner. The opposing pupil becomes fixed and will not react to any variations in light. Could someone please advise?

I know this is an old post, but I recently had my third major surgery in less than three years - 5th major in 10, and for the first time I'm having lingering side effects. Exactly the same vision issues you describe. Initially, my surgeon said it should self correct in 6-8 weeks. After 4 months I'm seeing the same issues with no improvement. I saw my eye doc and a specialist and was told it was similar to a chemical induced brain trauma, similar to a physical concussion.

What is the best way to wean off the scopolamine patch in an elderly person? Can we use the cream instead and slowly increase the time between use?

I was put on a scopolamine patch in Sept.'10 and have been wearing it fr the last 8 months. It is pute HELL everytime I try to get off of it. The Dr.s have diagnosed me with Meniere's Disease but I can't get off the patch for them to do definitive testing. My Dr. has put me on an oral for of scopolamine but if I am even an hour or two late taking my dose I am deathly ill. And each tinme I get sick it is worse than the time beforel.

other anticholinergic meds would include benadryl (an antihistamine, but with anticholinergic side effects) or scopolamine. In that light I might try scopolamine- skin patches are sold over the counter and are placed on the skin behind the ear-- place your right over the.... that was going to be a joke, sorry-- they don't have to be on any particular area of skin, even though many people think they go behind the ear to affect motion centers there..

I recently went on a a 7 day cruise and wore the scopolamine patch from the first day and changed at 3 days. A total of 2 patches. I removed the patch the day I got home within 24 hours of removal I became very ill vomiting and nauseated. This continured throughout the next day. I called the Dr. and she told me to take dramamine. I remembered I had one patch left so I applied the patch again. Within 3 hours I was feeling better and that next day began to feel better.

I went on a cruise this past weekend and decided to try the scopolamine motion sickness patch. I removed the patch after wearing it for a day and a half because I noticed my right eye had fully dilated. Its unclear if my eye was directly infected by me touching the patch and then my eye or if this was just a side effect (i don't remember touching my eye). My right eye has been dilated for four days now, each day going down a little.

I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and have been wearing a scopolamine patch for the past 4 weeks. I've heard to cover 1/4, then 1/2, and then 3/4 of the patch to wean off avoid withdrawal. I'm 48 hours into covering 1/4 of the patch and i have a horrible headache, dizzy, and nauseated. Any help, tips, welcome. I just want to be able to go to work and take care of my kids like a normal person again.

Has anyone with scopolamine patch withdrawal just tried to go cold turkey and tough it out? IF so, how long did it take you to feel better?

It seems clear that the meclizine taper is the way to go to get off of the transdermal scopolamine patch and I will attempt it. In this scenario, from what I've read, Zofran does not appear to be an essential part of the taper. I have also read elsewhere on the web (not only here) that lamictal together with magnesium sulfate is sometimes used to combat the withdrawal symptoms. I saw one person mentioned lamictal but rejected it as a possible solution. Here is my question.

I was wondering if you all have any tips for avoiding sickness post-surgery. Did the scopolamine patch work for you? Zofran? I would love any advice to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!

I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.

Many AD's have side effects that affect the libido, guess it applies to both sex es. As far as I know all AD's have this drastic effect . Hopefully you'll find one that's OK for you . Good luck.

Yes, I've only been on it a week and I experience the muscle aches and bilateral flank pain as well. In addition, insomnia!

Does anyone know of any side effects from using the circulation booster. I have the opportunity to buy a second hand one, but my brother believes it can't be good for your muscles to zap them so to speak, like it will confuse your muscles.

Hi. I am on week 60/72, second round of treatment. I was really really sick after shot for first few months and then this resolved and became tolerable at least. I now find that I am having these same significant side effects later in tx. This didn't happen last round, but I went 48 then. Anyone else have this happen?

i had similar side effects when coming off the depo shot. I thought i was pregnant and took 3 tests. they went away but it took about 6mo. My docs checked my hormones and pituitary gland and they we all fine. It's probably not the effexor but ck w/ your doc anyway.

I just googled Avastin side effects are there are many sites that have lots of info on there. Also, you could google the manufacturer or ask your oncology center for some fact sheets.... Just a thought.

Cancer removed May 22, 2007, chemo July 2nd through October 8, 2007, and radiation on left breast November 2nd through December 26, 2008. Side effect from Taxol perminent numb toes, side effects so far from Tamoxifen body temperature changes of warmth then cold. The web page sites and telephone numbers did not have this information.

I have been prescribed Acebutolol for PVC's and I am literally exhausted since beginning this medication but I didn't see that as one of the side effects. Also, my vision is blurred. Is this normal?

I am also a breast cancer survivor, however as I am triple negative, the hormonal drugs are not effective for me so unfortunately I cant speak from experience. However, that doesn't mean that I cant find out some interesting information for you in relation to libido and Arimidex.

He had a third seizure there and the vet diagnosed epilepsy. He is on phenobarbitol and had no side effects until last night when he vomited and started head twitching. He is drooling a lot and a bit wobbly. Is this typical? Will it stop ?
