Avatar n tn Has anyone with scopolamine patch withdrawal just tried to go cold turkey and tough it out? IF so, how long did it take you to feel better?
Avatar n tn I started with vertigo 15 days ago and I'm not sure of the cause. I was using meclizine but wanted to function better so my dr. prescribed the patch. It was wonderful. I put it on Tues. and took it off Fri. On Sat. and Sun. I did not feel well, queasy and dizzy with blurred vision. So on Mon. I put on another patch. I took it off Wed. to see how I was feeling. Within 18 hrs. I started to feel badly again but never threw up. I saw this thread, thank the Lord, and went right to my dr.
Avatar f tn I was put on a scopolamine patch in Sept.'10 and have been wearing it fr the last 8 months. It is pute HELL everytime I try to get off of it. The Dr.s have diagnosed me with Meniere's Disease but I can't get off the patch for them to do definitive testing. My Dr. has put me on an oral for of scopolamine but if I am even an hour or two late taking my dose I am deathly ill. And each tinme I get sick it is worse than the time beforel.
Avatar n tn I recently went on a a 7 day cruise and wore the scopolamine patch from the first day and changed at 3 days. A total of 2 patches. I removed the patch the day I got home within 24 hours of removal I became very ill vomiting and nauseated. This continured throughout the next day. I called the Dr. and she told me to take dramamine. I remembered I had one patch left so I applied the patch again. Within 3 hours I was feeling better and that next day began to feel better.
Avatar n tn What is the best way to wean off the scopolamine patch in an elderly person? Can we use the cream instead and slowly increase the time between use?
617846 tn?1231553233 I am currently using a transdermal scopolamine patch for vertigo. I suffer from profound episodes of vertigo, so the doctor has prescribed me a 1.5 mg transderm patch. I only use it when the vertigo is extremely severe. My problem is this: When I apply the patch, (behind the ear, either right or left) I immmediately experience extreme anisocoria in whichever eye is nearer the patch.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and have been wearing a scopolamine patch for the past 4 weeks. I've heard to cover 1/4, then 1/2, and then 3/4 of the patch to wean off avoid withdrawal. I'm 48 hours into covering 1/4 of the patch and i have a horrible headache, dizzy, and nauseated. Any help, tips, welcome. I just want to be able to go to work and take care of my kids like a normal person again.
Avatar n tn It seems clear that the meclizine taper is the way to go to get off of the transdermal scopolamine patch and I will attempt it. In this scenario, from what I've read, Zofran does not appear to be an essential part of the taper. I have also read elsewhere on the web (not only here) that lamictal together with magnesium sulfate is sometimes used to combat the withdrawal symptoms. I saw one person mentioned lamictal but rejected it as a possible solution. Here is my question.
746917 tn?1234571359 I told the nurse and she removed the scopolamine patch behind my left ear. I had never been given that before and have no idea why they decided to use it. I went home from the hospital with blurry vision and 2 weeks later not much has improved. Symptoms: bright light hurts eyes- must use hat and sunglasses outdoors dizzy and distorted vision when in bright light cannot drive riding in car makes me sick if my eyes stay open can only use the computer limited time approx.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if you all have any tips for avoiding sickness post-surgery. Did the scopolamine patch work for you? Zofran? I would love any advice to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!
Avatar m tn Has anyone tied the scopolamine patch to alleviate depression? I have been on so many different anti-depressants for over 15 years; nothing alleviates it. I heard that many people have had relief from the patch when no other drugs seem to work, but I am scared to try it after reading the posts above. Please let me know if you have tried this patch to alleviate depression and what your results were/are. Thank you.
1903798 tn?1333905288 I was really sick to my stomach the morning I was to fly home so I asked for NS to call in a sticker and I have been fine since (3 days now). I am just wondering if those with nausea problems have tried transderm scopolamine 1.5 mg dis. I think I am going to talk to my PCP about it tomorrow it says it is a anticholinergic agent used for preventing nausea and vomiting associted with motion sickness and recovery from anesthesia and surgery.
Avatar f tn She prescribed scopolamine patch, did nothing. I told her my vision was getting blurry. I went to optometrist since I wear glasses, got new glasses just in case, no improvement. CT with contrast and inner ear normal. First neurologist said I have something like disembarkment syndrome but I did not disembarkment anything. She prescribed Clonazepam and a medrol pack, both of which did nothing.
Avatar f tn I was at the OB today as he wanted to check on baby xyz before I headed from my home town 8 hours away for 6 days of camping, then back home for 48 hours and then 8+ hours in the opposite direction for more camping. I asked for Zofran as I am familiar with it due to the beginning of my pregnancy, I am 14 week + 6 days now, and I was unsuccessful in getting it. (I do have 5 or 6 left from my prescription).
Avatar n tn I was on the Fentanly patch (50mcg) for almost a year. I used it as prescribed (changing the patch every 3 days) but started having side effects with my pancreas and all the pain medications I was taking. I talked to my doctor and he asked if I could add a day (changing the patch every 4 days). I agreed, cut down on my other pain medications and tried it. The morphine will build up in your system over time.
Avatar f tn s eye, you may accidentally instill some of the medication in your eye if you touch or rub your eye. I have seen a patient present with one dilated pupil after he placed a scopolamine patch for sea sickness behind one ear, and then touched one eye without thinking. Do you use OTC eye drops for redness? See the ophthalmologist for an evaluation, and let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn m no closer to solving this issue. I am followed by my primary and Rheumy and was put on a trans-derm scoplamine patch to help dry me up change every 3 days. If I forget I feel sick and as soon as I put it on I feel better quickly. It actually does help some. My concern is whether or not this is appropriate and not damaging to me. I have Lupus, asthma and continued sinusitis. My asthma is always out of control because of all this mucus. I cough up volumes.
Avatar f tn I have been on the estradiol patch for 5 weeks! I was on the .725 dose. I have gained about 8 pounds and I am freaking out! I have been extremely co scoops of my diet and etc. my doctor suggested we lower the dose to the .375 to see if it will help! How long will it be before I see the weight come off?
Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
Avatar f tn I get remicade infused every 8 weeks, I take zofran, phenergan, Prevacid, scopolamine patch, and Benadryl. My question is what do I do? Do I go to the er? I'm miserable, week, tired, I can't take care of my kid and school has become impossible. Im nervous for the er, as they tend to no really believe me, and only focus on my Crohn's, despit knowing it is in remission. Thank you in advance for any advise.
Avatar m tn I have been in pain managment for 4 year with back and neck issues. I am prescribed Oxycontin 40mg 4x's daily and hydrocodone 10/325 4x daily. Thinking of switching to the patch. Do I need to wean off oxy before using the patch. Do i need to worry about od ing because of the halflife of oxy? So one day I guess they will tell me to stop taking oxy and start the patch i am assuming 100mcg to = what I am taking now. Any help would e great. Pros and Cons to the patch?
Avatar n tn I was on the fentanyl patch many years ago, but for several years, and at a high dose. After developing diabetes, my body temperature made the medicine enter my body too quickly and so created problems. At that time, there wasn't the option of oral - only IV. The only question I'd have is that the GI tract absorbs medicines in oral liquid form quite quickly - unless in a time release form - thereby reducing the slow release quality of the patch.
326947 tn?1252591233 I was put on the patch 4 abot 2wks now 25mcg/hr, And i haven't felt much improvement. Just wanted 2 know is that a good dose 2 start on? Thank you.

Avatar f tn I've had these, in fact, i restled with leg jerks last night. One day, last summer, when I was on my way to my Pain Specialist (which was a monthly ordeal), I began with the 'body jerks' ...different parts of my body 'suddenly jerking' at random. They were growing worse by the hour. By the time I got to OKC, they were really bad.
1279189 tn?1275244868 Hi Sonya, I'm so sorry that you didn't bring your pain pills with you. When ever they start you on the patch they start you at a low dose and work up. So I have a feeling that this wasn't the intended dose that you will wind up with. You have to work up on the patches, they very seldom start anyone at a high dose. You may find that when you get to the dose that is right for you that you won't need very many pills if any at all.
