617846 tn?1231553233 I am currently using a transdermal scopolamine patch for vertigo. I suffer from profound episodes of vertigo, so the doctor has prescribed me a 1.5 mg transderm patch. I only use it when the vertigo is extremely severe. My problem is this: When I apply the patch, (behind the ear, either right or left) I immmediately experience extreme anisocoria in whichever eye is nearer the patch.
Avatar n tn Hi, the cause for vertigo should be investigated; “Vertigo is usually associated with a problem in the inner ear balance mechanisms (vestibular system), in the brain, or with the nerve connections between these two organs. Vertigo can be a symptom of an inner ear infection or of an underlying harmless cause.
Avatar n tn My mother was out of work for 3 weeks after taking this patch for a week in mexico suffering vertigo and nausea. Where are the warnings? This seems potentially life threatening (as much as the stomach flu) what happens if someone elderly or already weak takes this? I think we all should get a settlement, and a warning on the label!
Avatar f tn My son had a stomach bug, then I got it for three days, recovered, then became chronically dizzy ( not vertigo), like swaying. No migraines, no nausea. GP gave me meclizine, did nothing. EENT did a hearing test and ENG, both normal. She prescribed scopolamine patch, did nothing. I told her my vision was getting blurry. I went to optometrist since I wear glasses, got new glasses just in case, no improvement. CT with contrast and inner ear normal.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your input --- we ended up using the cream and slowly decreasing the amount of cream within a 24 hour period, per the Hospice nurse's suggestion. Of course the nurse was not at all concerned about weaning off Scopolamine since the patient was only on it for a couple months. I was concerned, so she agreed that we can do it with the cream if we felt safer.
Avatar n tn You're technically in a short-term 'addictive' phase to scopolamine, which is a belladonna alkaloid drug in use for thousands of years. I've taken it for sailing trips, and occasionally for sleep, but it's not a very 'clean' drug, and the doctor is right-- stop taking it.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and have been wearing a scopolamine patch for the past 4 weeks. I've heard to cover 1/4, then 1/2, and then 3/4 of the patch to wean off avoid withdrawal. I'm 48 hours into covering 1/4 of the patch and i have a horrible headache, dizzy, and nauseated. Any help, tips, welcome. I just want to be able to go to work and take care of my kids like a normal person again.
746917 tn?1234571359 He was convinced I had a bad reaction to the scopolamine patch. He said it would take days to weeks for it to go away. He said the scopolamine affected the focusing mechanism in my eye. My blood vessels and eye nerves looked perfect, he said. He could tell my focus distance was off. My OB/GYN sent me to a neurologist. He couldn't determine what was wrong from the office exam, but ordered a MRI and bloodwork, including thyroid tests.
198419 tn?1360242356 I had severe vertigo for about six months. For about two months, it was constant - mild in the morning, worst in the afternoon. I guess it was because of that huge lesion in my right cerebellum! It's gradually gone away, but comes back for a visit every now and then, like today. I've also had a really weird thing happen - one night, I'm painting in my studio, and all of a sudden, I can't see. A big gray blur is across my right eye.
Avatar n tn This was told to me via a pharmacist. For reference, I was on it for 6 mths, sometimes having 2 on, due to violent vomitting because of a pelvic mass.
Avatar f tn I was put on a scopolamine patch in Sept.'10 and have been wearing it fr the last 8 months. It is pute HELL everytime I try to get off of it. The Dr.s have diagnosed me with Meniere's Disease but I can't get off the patch for them to do definitive testing. My Dr. has put me on an oral for of scopolamine but if I am even an hour or two late taking my dose I am deathly ill. And each tinme I get sick it is worse than the time beforel.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if you all have any tips for avoiding sickness post-surgery. Did the scopolamine patch work for you? Zofran? I would love any advice to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!

220917 tn?1309784481 Hello! You sound busy but happy with it. You should ask for at least another MRI if it will have been 8 mos, I think. Sorry about the vertigo. Vertigo *****.
Avatar f tn I went on a cruise this past weekend and decided to try the scopolamine motion sickness patch. I removed the patch after wearing it for a day and a half because I noticed my right eye had fully dilated. Its unclear if my eye was directly infected by me touching the patch and then my eye or if this was just a side effect (i don't remember touching my eye). My right eye has been dilated for four days now, each day going down a little.
Avatar n tn If an underlying cause is not found, anticholinergic medication can help, such as atropine, scopolamine, or even benadryl. The blood in your sputum is concerning, this needs to be checked by your doctor since that does not commonly accompany sialorrhea.
Avatar f tn Hi thanks for the explanation. I did have severe vertigo last year and saw an ENT that said my vertigo was not an inner ear issue he suggested then it was neurological in nature but further investigation is yet to determine where my vertigo stems from. I'm often lightheaded. But I also feel like when I'm standing doing something I feel like things are moving around me. Strange I know but it doens't happen often enough to really bother me yet.
Avatar f tn I havent been able to keep anything down for about 3 days now. I've been to the ER and they prescribed me pills the pills only made it worse. I've tried to eat popsicles and peppermint but nothing seems to help I'm over dehydrated and I'm helpless.. I need help from other moms who have experienced this.

Avatar m tn Has anyone tied the scopolamine patch to alleviate depression? I have been on so many different anti-depressants for over 15 years; nothing alleviates it. I heard that many people have had relief from the patch when no other drugs seem to work, but I am scared to try it after reading the posts above. Please let me know if you have tried this patch to alleviate depression and what your results were/are. Thank you.
Avatar f tn They should have someone in the office who can tell you which medications you need to stop. If not, ask them to give you the phone number of another audiologist who performs VNGs. They should be clear about those things with the patient! After all, they want to get correct test results, and without confusion or undue discomfort to the patient.
405614 tn?1329144114 I had one treatment by my PT that left me feeling like my brain was floating above my head for hours, and then the other vertigo stuff for a couple days. I'm much happier with plain dizziness, if happy is the right word for it, lol! Arnica gel helps the bruises, for those of you that run into things.
