Avatar f tn Hi! I am 43 female, healthy until the end of January 2018. My son had a stomach bug, then I got it for three days, recovered, then became chronically dizzy ( not vertigo), like swaying. No migraines, no nausea. GP gave me meclizine, did nothing. EENT did a hearing test and ENG, both normal. She prescribed scopolamine patch, did nothing. I told her my vision was getting blurry. I went to optometrist since I wear glasses, got new glasses just in case, no improvement.
Avatar n tn s suggestion. Of course the nurse was not at all concerned about weaning off Scopolamine since the patient was only on it for a couple months. I was concerned, so she agreed that we can do it with the cream if we felt safer.
Avatar n tn You're technically in a short-term 'addictive' phase to scopolamine, which is a belladonna alkaloid drug in use for thousands of years. I've taken it for sailing trips, and occasionally for sleep, but it's not a very 'clean' drug, and the doctor is right-- stop taking it.
Avatar n tn Bottom line, there was no physical cause for her sickness that could be found so we still believe strongly that the scopolomine patch is what caused all of her problems. Anytime the subject comes up, we warn people away from it because of what it did to her. At the end of the day, we're just happy she recovered. Step1260, if your symptoms don't resolve themselves in a few weeks then I'd highly recommend finding a vestibular rehabilitation therapist. Good luck!
Avatar n tn It seems clear that the meclizine taper is the way to go to get off of the transdermal scopolamine patch and I will attempt it. In this scenario, from what I've read, Zofran does not appear to be an essential part of the taper. I have also read elsewhere on the web (not only here) that lamictal together with magnesium sulfate is sometimes used to combat the withdrawal symptoms. I saw one person mentioned lamictal but rejected it as a possible solution. Here is my question.
617846 tn?1231553233 I am currently using a transdermal scopolamine patch for vertigo. I suffer from profound episodes of vertigo, so the doctor has prescribed me a 1.5 mg transderm patch. I only use it when the vertigo is extremely severe. My problem is this: When I apply the patch, (behind the ear, either right or left) I immmediately experience extreme anisocoria in whichever eye is nearer the patch.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and have been wearing a scopolamine patch for the past 4 weeks. I've heard to cover 1/4, then 1/2, and then 3/4 of the patch to wean off avoid withdrawal. I'm 48 hours into covering 1/4 of the patch and i have a horrible headache, dizzy, and nauseated. Any help, tips, welcome. I just want to be able to go to work and take care of my kids like a normal person again.
746917 tn?1234571359 I told the nurse and she removed the scopolamine patch behind my left ear. I had never been given that before and have no idea why they decided to use it. I went home from the hospital with blurry vision and 2 weeks later not much has improved. Symptoms: bright light hurts eyes- must use hat and sunglasses outdoors dizzy and distorted vision when in bright light cannot drive riding in car makes me sick if my eyes stay open can only use the computer limited time approx.

Avatar f tn t really had surgery aside from my wisdom teeth, and as a complete and utter emetophobe I am petrified of being sick that day or so afterwards from the anesthesia/pain meds. I was wondering if you all have any tips for avoiding sickness post-surgery. Did the scopolamine patch work for you? Zofran? I would love any advice to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!
Avatar n tn His hospice people were honest with him about what was happening in his body. But the decisions concerning end of life care were his. Now it's true - you cannot be under active doctor's care and be on hospice at the same time. Hospice is for end-of-life care, not for surgical procedures and so forth. That's the first decision that has to be made.

Avatar f tn The movement of the bowel is activated by the parasympathetic nervous system through the release of acetylcholine, so 'anitcholinergic' medications are generally constipating and slow bowel activity. The classic med is donnatal, for irritable bowel; other anticholinergic meds would include benadryl (an antihistamine, but with anticholinergic side effects) or scopolamine.
Avatar n tn I share your pain. Two weeks ago I was a 53 yr.old man.6' 230 lbs. And in great physical condition. I've been told I'm extremely handsome but I've been alone for most of my life. I have no family and I've always been scared to start relationships in fear of being hurt or hurting another.Thinking my patience will be rewarded I've lived my life being the best man I can be. Praying everyday that God will give me the strength to be a better man than I was the day before.
Avatar n tn You are suffering from sea sickness which is characterized by a feeling of nausea and in very severe cases vertigo after spending some time on the sea craft. OTC prescription medicines like Dramamine and Scopolamine help. Apart from these ginger capsules and wearing special wrist bands also help in managing this condition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasickness Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I went on a cruise this past weekend and decided to try the scopolamine motion sickness patch. I removed the patch after wearing it for a day and a half because I noticed my right eye had fully dilated. Its unclear if my eye was directly infected by me touching the patch and then my eye or if this was just a side effect (i don't remember touching my eye). My right eye has been dilated for four days now, each day going down a little.
1358341 tn?1282209843 VGM too high and CREATININE too low, and that happens to be the opposite of CRF with HGB low (end-life anemia, although VGM is normal) and CREATININE high. If in the future my levels get higher, it might be related either to food – I'm vegetarian – either to genetic disease, witch ? But if it is genetic disease that has opposite symptoms from CRF, that means you can cure CRF with a second disease.
Avatar f tn Zofran 8 mg that dissolve and scopolamine patches the only thing that saved me.
Avatar f tn I was severely depressed and wanted to end my life. I then realized my baby needs me! Positive people around you will help but negative people will always want to see you fall on your face. The choice is yours...
Avatar m tn Has anyone tied the scopolamine patch to alleviate depression? I have been on so many different anti-depressants for over 15 years; nothing alleviates it. I heard that many people have had relief from the patch when no other drugs seem to work, but I am scared to try it after reading the posts above. Please let me know if you have tried this patch to alleviate depression and what your results were/are. Thank you.
