1798872 tn?1346164585 No, but check both scarlet fever and rheumatic fever on wiki. The immune response initiated by scarlet fever can lead to rheumatic fever. Said immune response destroyed my mother's heart valves because cartilage and the bacteria's cell wall are somewhat similar.

Avatar f tn Also this disease has to be differentiated from other diseases with similar symptoms like Scarlet fever(caused by streptococcal bacteria).Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis,Stevens-Johnson syndrome( a disorder of the mucous membranes),Toxic shock syndrome and measles. Diagnosis can only be confirmed after examination and investigations. So in my opinion, consultation of a physician will be the best. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn Viral exanthems may be due to Ebstein Barr virus, enteroviruses, and measles. The rash of scarlet fever may be itchy and appear primarily in the chest and trunk.Drug allergies may present as rash.Another rash of unknown cause is pityriasis rosea which may involve the extremities and innner arms and thighs. I suggest you seek consult with your internist or dermatologist. I have just given a run down of possible differentials that you may discuss with your physician.
Avatar f tn We took him to the doctor and he diagnosed Scarlet fever. He priscribed Amoxicillin for 10 days. He started taking it and 3rd day his fever was gone, rash was gone. I sent him to day care for one day as I had to go to office and he came back with minor fever again. We thought his antibiotics is still not finished may be he will be fine. Next morning his legs badly hurt. Then I notice he was starting pink eye.

Avatar n tn the disease usually comes along a couple of weeks after someone has popped up with a stubborn strep infection like strep throat or scarlet fever (which is almost unheard of these days w. the scarlet fever). The parts of your body that can be effect is your heart, brain, joints of your body mimicking rheumatoid arthritis and believe it or not your skin. It is considered to be an inflamatory disease in other words causing any of these parts of your body or a portion of them to swell up.
Avatar n tn I am asking whether I could get this from my partner they show no signs at all but in the last week their hands have started to peel in exactly the same way mine are following the scarlet fever rash. I am worried that this may not be scarlet fever but something more, is there any std that comes across this way. My Doctor has said that is highly unlikely I was infected from my partner following their treatment or that I was reinfected from them following my antibiotics course.

Avatar n tn Hello, You have not mentioned your daughter’s age. If your daughter is a child then the possibility of rocky mountain spotted fever, Kawasaki disease and scarlet fever are there. Rash in all these involves the palms and soles and is a red, shiny rash. Investigations and blood tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
