When I was a child in 1992 I had scarlet fever. They gave me a shot of penicillin and within a week i was all better. If you do decide to go back to the doctor, see if they offer a one time shot instead of 10 days of pills. Also gargling salt water is very helpful for sore tonsils....don't swallow of course.
