you have to weigh out the benefits and what is more acute and has to be dealt with and not getting enough air to me take priority over an occasional fast heart however you want to make sure that the doc has okayed you to take an aspirin if you are going thru this to ward off the threat of clotting....good luck...in know i after getting the okay from the doc threw my inhalers away....just don't do it until the doc tells you to or gives you something else in its place.....

Been diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis, feline dander, housedust etc allergies. Also diagnosed with excercise induced asthma in the 90's. About a month ago wheezing. Doctor has me on 50mcg fluticasone/salmeterol powder am and pm,plus albuterol every 4 hrs. I haven't been using rescue every 4 hrs. When I talk I start coughing and choking and have to spit. What is going on with treatment?

Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? i have had asthma since i was born, and it was not a problem for me until i was 8 years old. i couldnt run and when i did, my left arm would turn numb and i would feel my chest violently gasping for air, then i faint. i didnt run since then, and i lived my teenage and early adulthood fine, didnt need my inhalers and when i felt i did need them i would use them once or twice... i have 3 children, and only with my first pregnancy i was admitted to hospital unable to breath.

I have tried advair (first medication we tried) but discontious its use because of cost (I didn't have prescription drug coverage and $120 every 2 weeks was a little too hard for a university student like me). It's not that my asthma is worse per se .... it's just that the cigraette smoke triggers it and I'm having a lot more exposure and thus triggers -> which is making me use the rescue inhaler more. Advair is a combination of the same corticosteroid in Flovent (fluticasone) and a bronchodilator called salmeterol. Bronchodilators relax the muscles around the airways to relieve asthma symptoms like wheezing and coughing. So, Flovent is the steroid fluticasone. Advair is a combination salmeterol/fluticasone. a lot of times the medicine that you take for your asthma can cause high pulse rates esp. if you have to take a breathing treatment that will really cause your heart to pound.

I have been on Advair, then symbicort, and now dulera and keep losing my voice to the point of not being able to sing at all. I am a singer and a teacher and really need my voice, but I also need to be able to breathe! I get plenty of sleep, drink water, and don't abuse my voice by yelling or pushing it too much.
