Avatar f tn My dr had me on albuterol in the 1st tri of my last preg...I couldn't breathe and used it for a week. No harm to baby.
435139 tn?1255460391 even walking from one room to another is a huge toll on me...I read that albuterol is a class C drug and has not been studied in pregnancy in humans...in animals is is linked to cleft palate defects and other defects too! Since I am in the 2ww I am not sure if I took my albuterol in my nebulizer if I'd be risking my potential babies health. I'll call my pharmacist or dr. in a couple hours but it is only 5 a.m. and I won't be able to call until 9...when they open.
1057060 tn?1266513126 However, my asthma inhaler is a different story, Like Losingmymind said, it is VERY important for the baby to have the proper amount of oxygen. The only inhaler I currently use is my Albuterol and I used it with my first pregnancy too. I did a ton of research and found out it's been around for years and used safely to control asthma during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I haven't used it myself, but my mom did with my baby brother and he's a healthy one.
Avatar f tn When I have an asthma attack I take 2 sprays of Symbicort now - it does contain Albuterol as one of the ingredients but it has never gotten my heart racing. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Albuterol has a long track record of use in the treatment of asthma without harmful effects for the breast feeding infant. You should discuss any further concerns with your doctor, including the possibility of a different inhaled medicine for wheezing. I hope that you will not need to use any asthma medicine in India. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Under these circumstances where you do not have knowledge of his status I think it is better to err on the side of safety.
1987536 tn?1337916244 their daily affair treatment plus albuterol as needed? The reality is that I have had allergic rhinitis during the whole pregnancy, I am 18 weeksand the last two days have been horrible w my breathing. So, I used my rescue nebulizer yesterday and today with albuterol. I feel much better, but curiosity intrigued me and I started Googling about the risks of not taking meds vs taking the meds and they both blow.
Avatar n tn Or some trimes over-use of the nebulizer can cause dryness of the nasal mucous membranes and result in bleeding. ref:http://www.drugs.com/albuterol.
1754037 tn?1327886811 I have used my albuterol and flovent inhalers in all but ONE of my pregnancies and my kids are fine. I did not take any oral medications though.
Avatar n tn Any of the various forms of albuterol actually do work better than standard cough medicines for non-cough variant asthma. Monitor your symptoms carefully and if things get out of hand, be sure to see your doctor quickly. Feel better and God bless.
Avatar f tn Phill, the nebulizer just delivers the albuterol in a better form, doesn't it? It's still albuterol? If your doc knows you're on that, it sounds like it would probably be safe to take. Do you have an after hours nurse you could call to confirm that? If you can't get your breathing under control and you feel like you can't catch your breath it's an emergency situation - you can always go to the ER and they will treat you right away. Best wishes with it.
1754037 tn?1327886811 Has anyone taken their albuterol inhaler thru out ur pregnancy??? I'm a bit worried if it is safe for my baby! I been taking it since it's the only thing I can take when I can't breath. I just need some re assurance that it is safe & wondering if any1 else pregnant & taking albuterol inhaler.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.
1932244 tn?1323292210 For this reason, you should be sure to consult with a high-risk pregnancy specialist or other experienced OB/GYN early in your next pregnancy and ideally before conception. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you waiting till your in your second trimester to start exercising cause the baby's so small and fragile any wrong move could cause your body to try to expel the baby but it is safe as long as your body is excepting it & your comfortable don't push yourself to hard or lift to heavy I'm 25 weeks & still work out like a champ every other day
726605 tn?1231368596 Do you take these on a daily basis. Medrol is hardcore. What does your doctor say about medrol during pregnancy. I assume you mean albuterol in the nebulizer. I've taken that during pregnancy...but that's when my asthma's been out of control. Sound like the meds you are taking are "short-term". Those aren't anything you would take on a regular basis for controlling asthma. In any event...
Avatar f tn It is only a problem when you require your albuterol more then a couple times a week for asthma attacks due to allergies/irritants. This is then considered a lack of control of your asthma and your medications should be reviewed. Taking inhaled steroids does not cause weight gain, however taking large doses of oral steroids over long periods of time will. You should not be taking this form of steroid on a long term basis.
Avatar f tn most ob/gyns advise the use of condoms as well as the b/c pills to help even more with the prevention of pregnancy.
7730563 tn?1393781747 Ive had asthma since the age of 4. Im 29 now and have been using the albuterol inhaler all my life. I have 2 kids and used the inhaler throughout my pg. Im pg with my 3rd and still use it as needed. My kids are perfectly healthy. My ob said the inhaler is fine. Not sure on the singular though.
Avatar n tn You can sleep on right side as well . You can try doing it now though to get used to it . Later on in pregnancy if you wake up on your back just roll over baby is ok . He or she will most likely make you uncomfortable before anything bad happens your body will signal a response to you most likely . I had thos worry and sometimes I still wake up on my back just get used it your side sleeping now while its still comfortable for you .
370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar f tn Has anyone here taken albuterol inhaler during pregnancy and had a healthy pregnancy? I'm 22 weeks and asthma has been a little bad it's controllable but the only thing that calms it is my albuterol inhaler doctor said its fine to take I'd rather not be taking it but its the only thing that helps me I usually just take up to 2-3 puffs a day..
Avatar f tn Normally it is safe thru your whole pregnancy but it would be best to talk to your doctor since you did have spotting! Need to make sure the baby is ok.
Avatar f tn In general, drugs such as Ultram (or tramadol) are not recommended during pregnancy or during breastfeeding because there is a lack of safety information. This does not mean that it will necessarily cause problems for the fetus or baby, but since the information is not known, it might. Animal studies have shown that the drug crosses to the developing fetus, but the danger to a developing human fetus is not known.
