Safety in preschool

Common Questions and Answers about Safety in preschool

safety

Avatar f tn He started kindergarten this year and since August he has only gotten 2 happy faces in school. He always gets in trouble for talking and being to loud in the classroom. My husband and I have noticed his behavior and we have been seeing a dr regarding this. We are at the point he is now getting behavior reports all the time and now his teacher has called me today for a meeting with us and her. I am so terribly worried about putting my 5 year old on medication.
Avatar n tn Well recently, we attended my daughter's Harvest party at her preschool. She is in the 3 year old class and I thought was doing well. I asked her teacher how she was doing and she kind of shrugged her shoulders and was like maybe we could set up a meeting and discuss a few things. So of course, I was a little nervous, my daughter can be very strong willed and outspoken but I don't think she is a problem child.
Avatar n tn this might be happening because she is protective of her little brother and might think if she is always there nothing will happen to him she might think if she is away something will happen...has anything happened to your little boy while his sister was away or while she was there? if so she might not want to leave him because she is afraid it may happen again..
Avatar n tn Let me say that I read this with a heavy heart. My son was never violent towards other kids but he has a developmental delay in which many kids like him could act out physically. It is a difficult situation for a preschool when they have a child enrolled with challenges. They have a duty to protect the other children while at the same time may want to help the child overcome his issues.
Avatar m tn He does not throw temper tantrums just very difficult to get him to settle and focus. He was actually kicked out of one preschool, had many problems at a private school. He has been kicked off of the school bus for hitting. He is often in trouble at his current school as well. He is very bright but here are my concerns. He has had seziures since age 4, night terrors, on medication for adhd. He can not sit still, he and a neighbor kid at age 5 were found hitting his dog with a metal rod.
Avatar f tn Some kids have sensory issues which can look like different things depending on the child. Educating yourself in these various types of issues is essential to be successful in a preschool/daycare setting. Giving choices is critical to difficult children. Many choices throughout the day will help them 'feel' in control while in actuality the teacher has control as she is the one offering the choices.

I will GLADLY pay more in taxes to my state or government to get this implemented....
Avatar n tn When I was growing up back in the 70s, preschool was for 4 year olds. Maybe 3 if the kid was unusually precoscious or just needed to be social (my husband did preschool at 3). Studies have shown that other countries where kids go to school later and don't even do preschool (maybe it was Norway?) that their students test higher than U.S. students. I think they spend less time in school too. I think it was an article at one point in either the Wall Street Journal personal section.
Avatar n tn We punish him when he gets out of line (take away privileges, time out, spanking, push ups) depending on what he has done to warrant punishment (spanking are only for extreme circumstances like his safety is in danger) He is an only child. He will start kindergarten in Aug and we are worried this behavior may continue and possibly affect his learning in school. He has no mental or physical problems that we are aware of. What is really odd is this does not happen at home AT ALL.
Avatar m tn His delay is semi mild and we work to keep it in check. But if your son is doing well in preschool, language is good, motor skills are good----- I would try not to worry about something like autism or sensory integration disorder. Just my thoughts. Now my son's symptoms did become more pronounced as he got older---- but he started preschool at almost 3 and was there for 2 hours one morning a week only. Started in Sept---- by Oct the preschool teacher told me of her concerns.
Avatar m tn Anyhow, sorry to really rattle on here, but is there a site or 2 that would go more in depth as to recognizing autism signs in a preschool child that may have a forum or a number in which for her to call? I would, SHE would, really appreciate that.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Sorry this is happening. You have two roles here. To protect the other students and to worry about this young child that has much going on. I'd start by talking to his parents. Has he been in preschool before? Are the parents aware of any problems? How does he socialize or handle stress at home and in other settings? Have the school director and teacher of the child sit down and talk about this. In truth, what you mention is a sign of some type of neurological issue.
Avatar n tn My soon to be four year old daughter has slowly over this past year become more anxious and frightened of more things. She and her twin sister both attend fullday preschool during the school year, then are off over the whole summer (I'm a full time teacher) My daughter has gone from fearless to fearful. She never really took to preschool. She did well, but every day last year told me she had no friends and that she didn't want to go to school.
Avatar n tn I did consider half day. The only reason we allowed him to go all day is because he has been in preschool/daycare environment all day prior to K. He doesn't have trouble with other kids outside of K. He doesn't have trouble with the kids in his class outside of school. Im baffled! The other problem I have is that the school isn't working with me to find out why this is happening at school. They just recommend that he either not go or go half day.
Avatar f tn We decided to move back to a small town in Tennessee. We put her in the public school system preschool and she attended it for almost two weeks. We had an IEP meeting and we were informed that the classroom could not handle her and that she was out of control. They told us either we have to pull her completely out of preschool or she has to go to a special education classroom for her safety due to wandering.
Avatar f tn me and my boyfriend (long distance) have both admitted to each other we're virgins. we've also discovered i'm the one with more experience. he's never gotten a ******** or a hand job, etc. i'm going over to visit him for a while in the summer, i've arranged to get on the birth control pill, and had mutliple talks with my mother and experienced friends about it's use in preventing pregnancies.
Avatar f tn My question is will it harm me in any way for staying on it? I dont want to cause any more problems for myself by staying on it but evidently I lack serotonin and the paxil replaces it. Any info that you might give me would be greatly appreciated.
1772188 tn?1376837999 (ask the teacher if they employ developmentally appropriate practices and see how she responds). Any teacher certified Preschool-3rd grade in the past decade would know that this is not appropriate. I work for a public school district, and it is a NAEYC licensed school. I would NEVER be allowed to teach like that. When looking for an appropriate pre-k, look for ~little or no dittos or work books ~ avoid places that have identical projects displayed. This is called product art.
Avatar m tn I do not have the training for this and have asked for those days off that i feel like im in danger. The preschool director has responded with that im wrong for asking. Am i really when I dont have the training? What do I do in this situation?
Avatar f tn Doggie is always safe, I'm not sure about the jumping jack though.
Avatar f tn It shoul be fine but always take precaution because semen can cause contractions, happen to me. But you are still early in the game.
