Avatar f tn I definitely learned my lesson, I just wish my welding teacher went over some plasma cutter safety before letting us use it. it could of saved me and everyone else in my class from hurting there eyes.
Avatar m tn I did a bit of research on your question about welding/WPW syndrome. I worked for a long time in occupational medicine and was curious if there could be a connection. Metal fumes can cause arrhythmias to occur, there was a study done a while back that involved boilermakers exposed to welding fumes. On days they worked they had a 20% increase in ventricular arrhythmias. But I know that WPW is most often something you are born with, you have an extra electrical pathway in your heart.
Avatar m tn UV light is a contributing factor for AMD. However, I doubt the arc welding accelerated your AMD. The cornea would have become painful from the uv (snow blindness). Dr. O.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone. I recently looked directly at a very bright and intense welding light. I was rather close and I looked directly at it. I was not wearing any eye protection, and the welder had no protective screen or curtain up (he was simply welding outside on a public sidewalk without any safeties and I was passing by and happened to look in that direction - it was not an industrial area or anything, so the light was just thrust in front of me with no warning).
Avatar m tn Arc welding with a pacemaker. Is there any protection? This discussion is related to Pacemaker and protective devices while welding.....
Avatar n tn I just had a vitrectomy with ILM and spot welding on retina to prevent RD for a macular hole 10 days ago. I am a healthy 46 years old female. The bubble is getting smaller, and I can now see above it, but vision is hazy, like seeing through fog. Is this normal? If so, why is it like this and how long before vision becomes clearer?
Avatar n tn Does that mean installation safety or environmental safety? One responder commented on the installation safety and another poster commented on environmental risks. Another responder parsed the OP's question and said the question related to warranty, and there should not be a comment on environmental issues as that was not the question.
Avatar m tn That question is too vague to answer. You would have to furnish more details for me to be able to comment.
Avatar m tn the marine paints around where he was welding would give off fume as well as fume from his welding rods and wedling site. we know one of the Paints it was Zinc Chromate Hexavelant Cromium VI ..the other marine paints where red and white in colour. one night at work a large amount of the yellow hexavelant paint was ground off above his head...he both breathed in the toxic dust and the the toxic fumes as it landed on his welding site...
Avatar f tn My husband went out for interviews all over Minnesota today. I haven't heard from him since twelve. I try calling his cell and it says he's out of the area. It's 4:15 and I'm starting to worry. What should I do? Please help.
Avatar f tn Ive stick welded before while pregnant, just for fun and my doctor said its fine, ive also done orbital welding, thats fine too =)
Avatar f tn Not really, it depends on the type of work and the regulations that OSHA requires for that type of job. For example if a person has ever been diagnosed with seizures, they legally can not become a truck driver regardless if they are controlled by medication or not. Underwater welding is the same way. It is a very dangerous type of work so it is highly regulated.

Avatar m tn This can be verified simply by pointing an auto shading welding helmet at the sun. How does this affect us? the lack of IR. Any possible bad side effects?
Avatar f tn I had prolonged exposure to UV light from welding a month ago while learning. i realize when i got home i could not see clearly, i had lots of light and flashes in my vision.. i complained to my eye doctor...after the examination of my eyes , he told me i had done a damage to my eyes and i have got scars in both eyes, but he refuse to tell me the part where the damage was. my eye doctor later injected my left eye, the next day my vision changed, became blurry and wavy..
Avatar m tn He gave me a chart to test whether my macula will degenerate further and told me to take a multivitamin for prevention. My question is: Is degeneration possible from intense light? Could there be another reason for my macula is damaged? He didn't refer me to an ophthalmologist. But he gave me reason for worry.
Avatar f tn I worked -in my younger days-for a brief time- in an steel plant as a management trainee and part of the initial safety training -for every employee-dealt with the dangers of exposure to metals, gases and various toxins. The main one was manganese and the related disease was nick-named welder's disease. Very common and very dangerous! The effects of excessive pot use on short term memory are well known.

Avatar n tn This is a legitimate question for your cardiologist, who knows about your condition and level of fitness and can weigh the risks.
