Avatar f tn Perhaps an evaluation by a pediatric psychiatrist would be of benefit. The medications that doctors prescribe must meet standards for safety and purity, while supplements do not have these requirements.
Avatar n tn ll run in circles in the living room for hours on end. He has No fear and is obsessed with walking in the road. We literally have to keep him on a child safety leash. He can't walk out of a room and leave the door open...it has to be closed. He counts everything. He is a very talkative friendly little boy, who won't show affection to anyone but his little sister, unless he gets a "booboo" or he's ready for bed. His safety concerns me the most.
143123 tn?1274300825 I am trying to speak with parents or people with first hand experiences with autism. I have a 9 month old niece and my brother informed my mother that the pediatrician had mentioned she may be autistic because of the size of her head. Everything I have read states that autism is diagnosed through milestones, etc. and not by physical characteristics. My niece was born 5 weeks early, but didn't have to go to the NICU after birth.
Avatar m tn Their Mom is a crack head that gets visitation rights and continues to infest all 3 of my step-kids with lice.. I am the only one that treats the kids for lice...plus with having a child of my own age 3 almost 4 and seeing the negative effect these kids are having and bringing to my own blood child and how I get treated for all I do to take care of these kids. I am so close to walking out on them. To me, it's not worth it especially when it effects my own child.
Avatar f tn Thanks Court2, That had crossed my mind, and I know from experience with students with Autism that kids do love those personal books. Your kids are lucky that you've made so many for them.
Avatar n tn You can then look into other avenues for him. Montesorri programs are excellent for kids with autism. Our public school system has within it a preschool program of this nature that has inclusion. Another thing to consider, if he misses one day of preschool------- could he attend the others? Could you pick him up and take back to school?? My son has sensory integration disorder and for one quarter, I picked him up for his appts.
Avatar f tn my 5yr old isnt potty trained and we cant find anything for him to wear in the pool. We got safety gear stuff and Little Swimmers for my other two... but no idea what to get him. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn And some kids do need that more than others. Telling kids to go make friends is a lot easier to say than to make happen. For some kids, relationships for peers is a challenge. And if you don't know the struggles that a family goes through, it's probably best to not judge. Autism is a whole different level of challenge and sadly, kids who look like everyone else on the outside but are not within are not cut any slack.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if there are some exercises you can do with him, so he is copying you, rather than standing or sitting for long periods you may want to ask the Doctor about that. Have you asked any other parent on the Autism forum there may be some ideas there..

Avatar n tn go to www.northstartdogs.com, they have golden retrievers that are trained service dogs for kids with autism. I blieve the study that you are referring to in NY is the one where a woman who is a dog trainer helps the child train their dog. you can do a search on kids with autism, dogs, LI, NY and see if that links you to any of the articles. i have a 4 year old son diagnosed PDD-NOS. He had significant speeech delay recently his speech has improved tremendosly.
Avatar n tn I have previous experience with working with adults with autism, Aspergers, etc., but am unsure how autism and autism spectrum disorders usually present themselves in toddlers. Here's a brief summary of my son: My son stays at home with me. My husband works from home as well so there is always one of us attending to all his needs. For the most part, he's a very happy, curious, independent little guy.
Avatar m tn Do they both go to the same school? Kids with Autism can seem very different to other kids, and while your son may not have been making any comments - he may have been hanging around with friends who were. Speaking of school. If they are still in session - this is where you want to start! Make sure the teachers and headmaster know what happened. Even if the school is out of session, I would still inform them.
Avatar m tn Sorry to be so scatterbrained and responding twice... But I googled Stem Stell Therapy and Autism and found some articles. Evidently there are some things being researched. It also seems like there are some things being done currently. I wonder if this is just something the super wealthy can afford right now. Yes, I'm very cynical on life and everything.
20044847 tn?1539205032 I just wanted to see how things are going for you and your son?
Avatar n tn It´s known that kids with autism may have some sexual behaviors because their lack of social cues when it is age expected. 1143625 tn?1261413317 Hey I recommend looking into groups where you live. I found before I met people in the same boat as me I was swallowed up into Autism. It was hard. But when I finally found people, moms in particular going through the same thing it took me out of this lonely world I was experiencing. It can be very hard sometimes and having someone around who you can get out with helps...
Avatar f tn Guiding and directing them is often useless and a waste of time. He does need to be evaluated and there is help for him, and you. Kids with Autism need a structured life and when things fall out of order, they often become upset and act out. The sooner you find out what is going on with him for sure, and get some help, the better off the both of you will be. Good luck and God Bless you both!
Avatar f tn He also being very ruff with his older sister who is 5yrs with autism. Most of the time he pulls her hair alot, or uses her as a giny pig. He is a non stop energizing bunny.. And he is still crying alot, just like a newborn. always wining or crying. Could my son have ADHD??? could he also have AUTISM??? or is this a behavior issue or concern????
Avatar n tn Medical mysteries involving our kids is not fun. I have a son with sensory integration disorder. Lots of kids with autism also have this although my son wasn't diagnosed as autistic. He meets the criteria for autism I take it but has these overlapping conditions? I think that I'd personally continue to have him evaluated and treated for the eye issue and the other one you are concerned about while still working diligently with intervention for autistic symptoms.
