1085681 tn?1280176627 Does anyone know of a parenting website or forum for infants? They don't have a parenting babies forum on here. They have parenting toddlers, parenting children, and parenting teens, but nothing for kids under a year old. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

Avatar f tn One at 12 months and the other at 18 months. I pulled out two small splinters in his foot today and am concerned for tetanus. Are two dtaps good enough for tetanus protection? I see the tdap is given to older children and adults every ten years to boost immunity. Is this the same for toddlers?
Avatar f tn My son slept in our room in his pack&play bassinet at night for the first couple months before transitioning to sleeping in his crib - and he always napped in his crib. The pack & play was awesome for travel as he could take naps basically anywhere we went together. But it isn't meant for daily sleeping for older infants or toddlers. The "mattress" is basically cardboard with a layer of fiberfill on top.
Avatar f tn 3 or 4 months old would be a good time. My baby is 3 months and is starting to slap toys and stuff.
Avatar f tn Especially for infants and toddlers my goodness!! I have a few friends with babies around thst age with that or toddlers with pneumonia or bronchitis. One friend has a kid with ALL THREE! He's in the hospital. Poor little dude. I hope your babe heals fast! Keep your head up mama!!
Avatar f tn Good question - all I know is that the caries causing bacteria streptococcus mutans does get passed on, otherwise parents would not be advised not to share eating utensils, food, drinks, toothbrushes with their infants/ toddlers and not to kiss them on the mouth. Infants do get infected that way but the severity differs.
Avatar f tn Of course, some high-end bassinets are well made, like the Arms Reach type, but cribs are made for infants on up and can be used until the child is old enough to refuse to sleep in it, and they are very tightly regulated for safety.
Avatar f tn Well, I have read that there is a high percentage of unborn babies along with newborns and toddlers that have pacs and it was no big deal. If I can find the article I will cut and paste it for you. I just read it recently.
Avatar n tn The tolerable upper intake level for vitamin D for toddlers younger than 4 years old and young children between 4 and 8 years old are 2,500 IU and 3,000 IU, respectively. Anyone age 9 or older should not get more than 4,000 IU of vitamin D in a day. Read more: http://www.livestrong.

Avatar f tn I start school this Monday and im going back to school October, I have to find a daycare that can take infants. The only one I found that is near my house and is really nice only takes up to 3 months , but my baby will only bee 1 month old. My boyfriend works so he can't do it. He thought he should give it to a friend of his mother's to take care of but I dont know her well enough to trust her with baby.
Avatar f tn A child may develop pain in a finger for many different reasons. Talking children will be able to describe the specific features and location of the pain. Infants and toddlers may only be fussy, and identifying the source of pain may take some detective work. Joint damage, muscle irritation, bone disease and skin destruction are common causes of finger pain. Trauma Direct injury to the finger is the most common cause of finger pain in children.
Avatar f tn It seems secondary to the garments or diaper she is wearing and sweating will worsen the condition. If it is left untreated for more than 3 days then it can lead to Candida (fungal) infection. The symptoms can be managed by use of - White petrolatum, Zinc oxide cream or Sucralfate can be used which acts as protective barrier. - Use of powders such as cornstarch or talcum powder is also helpful. - Low potency topical glucocorticoids cream can be helpful. I suggest you to consult pediatrician.
Avatar m tn Even the most recent study of Hill has evaluated a heterogeneous breastfeeding group and does not provide data for HBV DNA in mothers and infants (see the table for reference). Finally, the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that HBV infection should not be considered as a contraindication to breastfeeding of infants who receive the approved hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) and HBV vaccine[46].
Avatar f tn Also just wanted to get a sense of what kind of seats you are using/planning to use for your growind infants/toddlers? Space saver type of seats?

Avatar f tn In conclusion, there are not enough data on use of stimulant medications in pregnancy to allow definitive conclusions about their reproductive safety. Available data for Amphetamines suggest no increase in the risk of malformation when used at therapeutic doses, while infants might have slightly lower birth weights. Human data on Methylphenidate is limited and we cannot rule out the risk of malformation given the available information.
Avatar f tn s bot like it could hurt. My doc encourages moms to also read to their belly in third trimester and as infants as it is supposed to increase their brain activity and help when they become toddlers.
