i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment. and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too. how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?

Your question made me smile since 2 summers ago, my then 2 year old daughter, showed me gum that she was chewing that she got from the bottom of the slide at the park. I could have cried! I don't think that you have anything to really worry about. Most likely she will not get sick. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about it now. So, I would not worry too much.
I am so scared:) I was at a discount store and poked my hand with a safety pin that was taken apart, basically mangled. It looked like somebody had twisted it. It was on top of a clothing rack. Ive been seeing a lot of this on FB lately, some sick people are plastering razors to playground equipment. Please dont let your kids on a play ground until you have checked every inch of the equipment. If you notice anything that is dangerous to anyone please call the authorities immediatly and stay at the location to warn others until the authorities arive to deal with the problem. No one wants their children injured. Please also do not alow you children to go to the park alone.

It sounds like your doctor uses the same sort of equipment that used to be routine (20+ years ago), i.e. a sterile bacteriological loop. These were the norm among many STD specialists before modern disposalble swabs becamse widely available. And my guess the scalpel blade was disposable, single-use.
There is no reasonable possibility the doctor does not carefully sterilizes the loop (and scalpel, if not disposablet) between patients.
I think exercise should be good....some exercises make me uneasy, with the safety of my baby. But walking is really low impact and there are soo many articles thst discuss the benefits.
I work in the theme park/water park industry. They do not recommend the rides and slides for pregnant women for safety purposes. I just went to one of the water parks with my family a couple of weeks ago, and I was over 35 weeks pregnant. I spent the day drifting down the lazy river and wading in the wave pool, while my husband and son did the slides. As much as I love the slides, I know it is not best for my baby and I rather enjoyed a nice relaxing day without standing in lines.
