safety

Avatar n tn Yes your hips, thighs and lower back are used the different elevation of the walking boot and a normal shoe. It will go away soon.
Avatar m tn I have tried using crocs or even flip flops but they seem to cause more pain and movement on the fracture than a sneaker or hard soled boot which allow me to use my weight on my heel as I walk. Would a safety shoe with reinforced steel toe be suitable? I can get those a few sizes bigger so that i can wear them throught my duty and protect the area in some form of poor man's cast.
125112 tn?1217273862 Hi there, I always have had relatively low arched feet. Due to my low arches, I've always purchased footwear with little/no arch support as high arched shoes kill the inner [low] arches of my feet. Having 4 children and in having gained [too much] weight to boot, I experience a great deal of shin pain while walking. I always have (even when very fit) but just shrugged it off. As I've grown older and heavier though- it has become worse.
Avatar f tn I have foot drop and have two types of braces for it. One if a bulky brace that was casted to my foot, and the other is a "leaf up" brace. I had a TERRIBLE time finding shoes to accomodate either shoe. Here is what I've discovered: the shoe MUST have a removable insole. This is to give the shoe "depth" to have room for the brace. Also, the shoe must have a high back as the shoe actually works in conjunction with the brace.
Avatar m tn During that time I was in the Army and had already been diagnosed with plantar fascistis, heel spur, bone spur in my ankle, and possible osteoarthritis in my midfoot. The doctor said that I could just wear a boot for 3 weeks and then it would be fine. I got out of the Army a few weeks later and when I returned to the States I saw a podiatrist at the VA as I was still in pain.
Avatar f tn In Sept 07 I was diagnosed with a RIGHT foot stress fracture and put into a boot. After 4-5 weeks in the boot my LEFT hip hurt so bad I went to a super sturdy tennis shoe approved by podiatrist. My foot healed by 2/08 but my hip continues to hurt. Can't walk or exercise much. GP thought it was bursitis and gave me steroid shot, didn't help, went to physical therapy, ultrasound didn't help.
Avatar n tn From dwhitt After re-reading what I wrote, I failed to mention that I sprained the left ankle and fractured/chipped the bone on top of my foot. The doctor said there isn't anything they do for a bone chip. I was on crutches for 4 days and he said I didn't have to use them, if I didn't want to and I got the little shoe, not the boot, for my foot. My problem is, I can not stay off my foot anymore. I have used all of my time up.
Avatar m tn I have seen an orthopedic doctor and he says my xray shows signs of healing but it's been 4mos yesterday since the problem developed. Is there a special kind of boot or shoe other than the big bulky cam boot that I can wear that can possibly help in the healing process?
649848 tn?1534633700 Good morning. How is everyone today? I hope you're doing great. It looks like it's going to be another beautiful day here - warmer than the past couple have been. It's been kind of a busy week for me, but I feel like I've spun my wheels a lot. Husband was gone all week - due home in about an hour, so I only had my own schedule to deal with. Was nice!! I'm still wearing the boot on my foot - hope to get out of it when I see the doctor on Wed.
Avatar m tn Broke 3 bones, 3rd, 4th, 5th metatarsals. Its been 8 weeks. Finally in a shoe boot & out of the other cumbersome contraption. The doc said i could gradually walk up to 1 mile/ day. First day after taking off the compression stocking, why is the top of my foot all bruised, similar to when just broken? Does that mean I over did it? Called & the nurse said she doesn't know. Getting some sharp electrical like impulses intermittently in that area of my foot too.
Avatar m tn i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment. and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too. how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?
Avatar m tn s vagina, rectum, or mouth), or overt exchange of blood as can occur through shared injection equipment. Exposure to blood in the environment, hand shaking, shared toilets, etc, etc never transmit HIV. Based on those principles, responding only to the title of your question, you are not likely to be at risk for HIV in any way related to the window cleaner, unless you had sex or shared drug injection equipment with him. Now I have read the question itself.
Avatar f tn I am a long-standing customer of a respected shoe brand and have recently bought my second pair of their boots. They have a medium/small heel and I have always known the boots to be the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. The sole fit the profile of my foot perfectly. Unfortunately, whilst I was waiting to purchase my new pair of boots, I was unable to wear the old pair as the sole had cracked (from excessive wear probably).
Avatar m tn The article you reference makes no mention of HIV - that is because HIV cannot be transmitted that way. If you have other questions about the safety of using dental equipment, we suggest visiting the Dental Health forum, as this forum is HIV specific.
Avatar m tn Went to ER and was told that i had a acute navicular fracture. All that has been done for treatment is a wooden shoe. I was restricted to being on the foot for 15min. of every hr. and elivate as much as possible. This has went on for three weeks. There are no changes in my condition. I still have pain, and swelling and a poping in my foot. My question is, is this treatment normal for this injury? If other treatment needed should i get a second opinion? What should treatment be?
172023 tn?1334672284 , and I do them, but I also enjoy working out at the gym. So why do I avoid it whenever I can? Its a nice place, good equipment, a pool, lots of things to do..and I avoid it like the plague.
Avatar m tn Tattoo artists/piercers are trained on safety measures regarding bloodborne pathogens and do not reuse needles and they sterilize equipment between all customers.
8026978 tn?1396325900 I love shoe paste and brasso wood polish!!! So weird haha im 39 week pregnant :) ohh and smell of fuel !!!
Avatar n tn Power-generating equipment, arc welding equipment and powerful magnets (as in medical devices, heavy equipment or motors) can inhibit pulse generators. Patients who work with or near such equipment should know that their pacemakers may not work properly in those conditions. Cellphonelphones available in the United States (less than 3 watts) don't seem to damage pulse generators or affect how the pacemaker works.
Avatar n tn There are some incredible advances in shoe fitting. Check your yellow pages. Some stores have equipment that can determine where you apply the most weight and can recommend shoes and othotics that will level out your weight distribution, thereby causing less stress upon certain tendons, joints, etc. Research coconut oil. Know it sounds ridiculous when your feet and muscles are the problem, but that's why you should check it out.
Avatar m tn Would it be better to go back to a hard sole shot, or even a high top lace up boot - like military boots o do this not reallt matter?
649848 tn?1534633700 Good morning... How is everyone this morning? It's kind of a cloudy day and looks like we may get a bit of rain - remains to be seen. I need my sunshine and this will be the second day in a row without any!! There's not a lot going on here. We've been struggling to get COVID vaccinations, as the process in my State/County has been somewhat chaotic to say the least.
Avatar f tn This info kind of contradicts the tight shoe theory as they talk about too much movement of the foot in the shoe. Insoles would eliminate slip. They also recommend thick socks. Can you be professionally fitted? Fit is key, they say. https://workbootguide.
Avatar f tn I have untreated celiac disease and have had a stress fracture 2nd metatarsal that did not heal for over 4 months. Was in a plastic air boot and crutches for 8 weeks. Then tried to get back into regular shoe and started p.t. But had continued pain and limping. Went to a new ortho for 2nd opinion and he took a 2nd MRI. Radiologist came back with 3rd metatarsal now has a stress fracture. So back in boot and crutches for 6 to 8 weeks. It has so far been 5 1/2 weeks.
Avatar n tn I am still in a walking boot. He has got me a orthodic with ankle supports and says as soon as I fit into a shoe he will release me to full duty and we will be done.(this is a WC case, with my familys corp.) I would be extremly interested in hearing others similar crush injury stories and also if this doc is giving me the best care possible, or at the very least, what is expected for this injury.
572651 tn?1530999357 If you saw my email inbox you might be surprised at some of the mail I receive. I have signed up on distribution lists for many medical sites, including Nursing Times from the UK. I received an announcement today about an upcoming convention in LONDON, that may be of interest to some of you. This convention/conference is September 29-30 and the registration is FREE. I wish I could go, but its a bit far to commute. Some of you who live in the UK may be interested, though.
