Avatar f tn The following information is taken from a reliable source of prescription drug information, Lexi-Comp. For Singulair the statement below, is not the equivalent of a statement that the drug has been shown to be safe. For Zyrtec the statement suggests that this drug is probably safe but that there is not enough evidence to confirm that belief. You may want to discuss this information with your doctor.

Avatar n tn There are very few medicines that are considered 100% safe during pregnancy. I would really feel comfortable with anything that my OB prescribed for me, however. Who told you to stop and why? Do you still need it for morning sickness? It's used for the prophylaxis and treatment of nausea during pregnancy. i wouldn't worry about taking it.

Avatar f tn I don't know anything about those medications but if she knows you are pregnant, then she would know prescribing certain medicines to you are safe (i.e - she knows what is safe and what isn't safe to take in pregnancy) and so she wouldn't have prescribed you something to take unless it was safe for you and baby.

667829 tn?1297978123 He says there are many factors to consider when deciding if a medication is safe to take during pregnancy, but the most important consideration is "Does it cross the placenta?" In the placenta, nutrients, wastes, and gases are exchanged between the blood of the mother and the blood of the fetus, so any drugs or other chemicals that cross the placenta could have an effect on the growing fetus.
Avatar f tn Its just the start of a urinary tract infection so whatever antibiotics your doctor prescribed shouldn't be an issue since women during pregnancy are more susceptible to UTI's. I know there are some meds you shouldn't take for UTI's while pregnant but I doubt your doctor would prescribe that. If you are ever worried about taking a medicine in pregnancy you can go to rxlist.com and look it up.
Avatar f tn None of the medications used in the treatment of arthritis is absolutely safe during pregnancy. Hence, the decision to use medications should be made after careful assessment of the risks and benefits in consultation with the patient. Pain control through nonmedical management (eg, paraffin baths, decrease in physical activity, splinting, cold packs)or steroids(if utmost necessity is there) is preferred. During the first trimester, most of the drugs should be avoided. http://www.emedicine.
