1472764 tn?1287588186 I've finally broken down and taken the antibiotics. Temp was 100.2 today. 10 days of azythromyocin. 1 pill a day. Dr. said its safe for pregnancy. I'm also taking probiotics to counteract yeast. Has anyone else been in this situation? Was your pregnancy and baby okay? I'm so worried.
Avatar f tn I am 34 weeks pregnant and am very concerned about all these antibiotics (about 4) i took during my pregnancy, 3 were zithromycin z pack and one was metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis in my third trimester. For all these antibiotics, i received strong reassurance that they are safe to take to treat my common occuring respiratory infections. I am concerned. Is there anyone here who took many antbx during pregnancy and had a healthy child? AMEN...

Avatar f tn Many anti-biotics are safe to use during pregnancy. Just make sure your doctor knows you are pregnant and will keep that in mind when prescribing which anti-biotic you'll use. Take care.
Avatar f tn Its just the start of a urinary tract infection so whatever antibiotics your doctor prescribed shouldn't be an issue since women during pregnancy are more susceptible to UTI's. I know there are some meds you shouldn't take for UTI's while pregnant but I doubt your doctor would prescribe that. If you are ever worried about taking a medicine in pregnancy you can go to rxlist.com and look it up.
Avatar f tn Is metronidazole safe during pregnancy??...I had some smelly discharge so I went to see a doc nd they found out I had bacteria overgrowth nd that's wat they gave me that...has anyone taken it before??
Avatar f tn I can't say for sure because there are different types of antibiotics and different dosages, etc. But I can tell you that in my last pregnancy I needed to take antibiotics for a tooth problem and it didn't seem to effect that pregnancy. My son just turned 1 yr and seems prefect to me. ;-) I was really worried about it too but I didn't really have a choice. I needed the meds. Thankfully everything turned out well.
Avatar f tn My acupuncturist gave me some herbal pills for sinus infection that are safe for use during pregnancy. They were really great. They were a goldenseal and echinacea combination. I don't usually get much out of Chinese herbals, but these knocked out my sinus infection. If you have an acupuncturist or know one, you might give it a try.

1395422 tn?1308016251 I know it is safe during pregnancy because it is on my list of medication I can take from my OB. But I have been taking it every 5 hrs. since yesterday morning. Which is what is recommended on the bottle. I just feel like, with me being pregnant, it may not be safe to take for a long period of time?? Exactly how long do you think it is safe for me to take it like this? If I don't take it, I can hardly lift my head up off of my pillow.

9771234 tn?1405793808 Most antibiotics are safe during pregnancy. If you told your primary Dr that you were pregnant they would've chosen meds safe for you. I've been on them twice so far and I'm almost 29 weeks and baby is great.
Avatar f tn I have gum disease (it's well under control), so for the past several years I've swished/gargle with listerine twice a day right after tooth brushing. Then someone told me this wasn't safe to use during pregnancy. I'm 29 weeks and have been using it the entire pregnancy. I will certainly ask at my next appointment, but has anyone ever heard such a thing? I know it has alcohol in it, but it's not like I'm drinking it.
Avatar f tn Bactrim which is an antibiotic is NOT a safe antibiotic to take during pregnancy because it's a Class C and can be harmful.
Avatar f tn I would just call the office to be safe and tell them you are pregnant and want to know if the antibiotic prescribed for you is safe during pregnancy. I expect that it is as most are but it would be best to run it by your doctor You can go online and look up the drug's package insert and labeling pertaining to pregnancy as well. good luck and I hope you feel better.

Avatar f tn I have periodontal disease and dentist wont perform the root planing and scaling until second trimester. There is a small area behind my upper front tooth that is very swollen and hurts a lot. I already had an abscess and a tooth pulled because of infection and I don't want to go through that again. He says I should wait but I don't want to loose my teeth either. I read that hydrogen peroxide helps with possible infection and sore gums. Is it safe to use as mouthwash during pregnancy?
Avatar n tn Your doctor is aware of your pregnancy and some antibiotics are perfectly safe during pregnancy. Best to work with your doctor and follow their guidance. Wishing you a quick recovery and easy rest of your pregnancy.
Avatar f tn m 34 weeks and have suffered with several yeast infections during this pregnancy because my hormones are all out of balance causing the Ph in my body to be off. Antibiotics didn't work. I finally had relief changing my entire diet. NO sugar including bread &pasta. This feeds the yeast. Research candida diet. No scented soaps or bubble bath. While pregnant our discharge is more frequent, change underwear often to stay dry.
Avatar f tn I agree that it is important to talk to your OB. Always best to be safe rather then sorry. Honestly, your use has been quite minimal, but why chance it? I work in the field of social services, and although there are many factors looked at, if this is the only issue, it's pretty unlikely there would be any repercussions. However, it is extremely important you discuss this directly with your OB. Congrats on your baby and I wish you all the best.
