There is still a small amount of pain, but I am very aware of how much strength I am losing in my finger. I am due to start a Masters in university playing violin in 5 weeks so need to start rehabilitation of the finger as soon as possible, but don't want to further injure the finger.
I think you are talking about those cords which can occur if one or more lymph nodes were removed. These are scar tissue, or more specifically, fibroid lymphatic vessels. i have been asking a lot of questions and this is the best answer I have received. curiously, it appears that this never used to be a problem in the past much but is a fairly new development. The worst case my PT has ever seen was in a woman who only had one lymph node removed. I have it as well and these come and go.
I have hyper mobility in my fingers... so bad that I had to stop playing the violin in middle school, because it was causing issues. I would say I forgot my violin at home, because I didn't want to deal with my fingers acting up when playing...
I am not sure if they are a specialist, they are in the same facility as my neurologist, I see him through Dr. Bath Green at the University of Miami. When I was referred, my referral letter says "EDS" on it.
I went to the ER and was admitted for testing for heart irregularities, but everything on that score was absolutely normal -- the doctor discharged me with a diagnosis of playing too much violin (said the upper chest and jaw and head sensations were from practicing too much -- why this hadn't ever happened during the past ten years that I have played the violin never occurred to the doctor) and put me on naproxen!!!! I learned about brain zaps after googling lexapro withdrawal!!!
Thanks for the boost! I found myself in the livingroom after my last post dancing with my daughter and singing. We are a musical family. My hubby plays guitar and sings at small venues, my 4 y.o. loves her guitar, my 15 y.o. plays drums, I play violin and sing, and my soon to be 19 y.o. plays guitar too. After typing that out, "By George", I'm gonna break out my violin! Havens touched it in nearly 2 yrs!!!
If belittling you makes her feel better than that is a sad sad thing for her. Because soon you will be out on your own living your own life and she will have no one to put down. Don't take her comments to heart. Instead focus on the good relationships in your life. Focus on your singing and your friends. You have made it for sixteen years, you can hang in there for a few more. And in the meantime don't be afraid to stick up for yourself.
more important is, I am diagnosed last year that my neck bone degenerate at C5 and C6..and I am a violin player.. in the past 12 months, every time I practice my instrument I gotta rest for two days after that in order to play again without neck pain, headache and stiff muscles of my whole back.
Should I gradually stop practicing my instrument?

My son is 16 (17 in Jan). Over the past 3-4 weeks he has suffered from serious memory loss or he's just lying. There's only 3 people in the house: him, his mother and me (dad). I cautioned him last week about flushing the tolilet. He swore he didn't go to the bathroom. It could have only been him.
But I have always been really athletic and I play violin. Until last year. Biking too much hurt my knees, and my body just collapsed. Since then I have had debilitating knee pain, wrist problems, TMJ...pretty much all my joints are messed up. No Drs know whats wrong with me. My blood tests have all turned out negative, for Lyme's, rhumatoid arthritis, etc. X-rays of my wrists and knees are perfectly normal. Over the last year the pain has been ongoing, often so I can barely walk.
They both kicks me when I play my violin.
ve heard that somewhat soft and slower music is better, particularly harmonious, soothing music, like guitar, violin, piano, classical. Its recommended to avoid anything harsh or brash or discordant or startling. Its also strongly recommended not to use headphones or music directly against your belly as that amplifies sounds too loudly. I'd think bluegrass or country would be fine. I do a lot of classical or soft folksy stuff myself.
I admit, I spoiled her up to age 5, when her little sister was born. She is beautiful, popular, smart, straight As, plays piano, violin, in theatre productions, artistic, photographic memory, mathmatic I could go on, but her ANGER has been out of control for years. In 2005 I developed what was believed to be tendonitis of my left arm, mainly focused near the wrist. I believed at the time that my violin playing was the cause, as the pain was the worst when I would practice my instrument. I stopped playing the violin, to give my tendon time to heal. I was diagnosed with the tendonitis by a specialist, who suggested physical therapy. After two months without improvement, I stopped the therapy.
He's got the bow and he is playing you like a violin. Don't let him. Do you have somewhere else to go? Your little family is not going to be happy if your child is growing up in an atmosphere of threats, bullying, and walking on eggshells to appease someone all the time. Get it clear for now and forever, work out custody and get a break.
I was laying in bed trying to sleep when I started to hear a violin, playing an f# to a g (i have perfect pitch) back and forth with no apparent rhyme or reason. I normally can't sleep with light or sound, and this went on for a good two hours before I finally managed to fall asleep. I can only hear it from my right ear, whether it's against a pillow or not.
Also forgot to mention I play guitar and violin if that makes a difference.
t look homeless (he was playing violin through a amplifier) and he had his dog sleeping next to him. Anyway, she put the money in the dog's water bowl by accident then reached in to take it out. I have a history of anxiety problems and this is really worrying me.
Weirdly he's into the classics. Beethoven and Mozart. Things like that. Moonlight sonata gets him real still and he doesn't move. When its over he kicks like crazy till I put it back on. Anything played on a piano or violin seems to sooth him. He also loves when I sing to him. Could be anything.
