Running foot strain

Common Questions and Answers about Running foot strain

foot

Avatar n tn I rolled my left foot in a hole while running in July '09. I have had pain in the left side of my foot in the heel area. I can apply pressure massaging the heel area and feel a sharp pain. I had mornings where my first step out of bed was agonizing pain. The more I walked the more it hurt. I have used ice/heat/ibuprofen and nothing has helped. I started wearing my running shoe to bed on my left foot. I believe it has kept my foot straight at night and allows for healing.
246923 tn?1249154300 a few weeks ago (1 week and a half) I had a little accident at my school during P.E class, while I was running I twisted my foot and fell down, the whole day was torture since it was really hard to walk...days passed and the pain wouldnt go away, my friend gave me a massage with Bengay (I think that's how it;s called) but the pain won't go away... it is really uncomfortable to walk and very painful...my foot isn't swollen but the pain is not decreasing... My question is...
338416 tn?1420045702 s quite foot drop yet, but I certainly have to *think* about lifting my foot up. They make a foot brace that would hold my foot up, but it's plastic and clunky. I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.
Avatar m tn Hi all! For the last 3-4 days both of my feet have been in discomfort. It started as a small ache in my mid toes, then kind of gradual pain which spread to my ball and now it's gone to the heel and ankles. I'm not sure if it's related but last month I hurt my mid/upper back (pain around shoulder blade with niggly spots around) through over exercising in the gym. I haven't done any high impact running or anything, and shoes are proper fit.
Avatar m tn Typically activities are preferred to strengthen the back muscles, unless it is uncomfortable for the patient; however a few activities like twisting the spine or jumping may put strain on it. I would suggest consulting your treating doctor about the level of activity that you could possibly indulge in, before making a start. Hope this is useful. Take care!
Avatar f tn It does not give way but i sometimes get the feeling the joint is out of sync so i wriggle/twist it a little and that helps.I also find i am walking on the outside of my foot(not putting foot flat to the floor) as walking normally causes more grief. Any ideas would be welcomed with open arms as i am getting so cheesed off with it all. Many thanks fo any help.
Avatar n tn So I have problems with my feet. A few times/year I'll wake up in the middle of the night and my foot (one or the other) is aching and throbbing - no swelling, no discoloration. I'll spend the next 2 days hobbling around in pain. And then, out of nowhere, it'll disappear. This has been happening for a few years now, but more so that I've gained some weight back. It's different this time around.

Avatar n tn This often happens to rugby players, as I'm part of a rugby club, i'm only 20 but i know this can be to do with the surface you are training on, i don't know if that's the case with yours, but when i do my running i either wear running shoes with a soft soul or run on fields.
Avatar m tn The next day, went back to the gym and tried to run but there some noticeable pain so I stopped. Last Friday, I tried running, felt no pain so I continued on. 3 hours after my run, there was much more pain in my groin this time. I had a similar injury before while doing lunges and had it checked, ultrasounds showed nothing out of the ordinary. Is it possible my groin is just weak and I need to take it easy? It's just the right side by the way.
Avatar f tn I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago by stepping on a rock while running. I sat in a chair for 3 days while applying RICE before borrowing a friends crutches & boot cast. Here it is 2 weeks later & the pain is still intense to the touch, my foot is still swollen, I can walk on it but w/ a major limp (I can't walk on it for long though)& now I'm starting to feel pain up the back of my ankle/lower calf. No, I haven't gone to see a Dr.
Avatar m tn I play soccer and was invited for several tryouts semi pro leagues, and then a guy broke my foot. After 6 months out with the broke foot, I came back and started training again. During a normal training routine I felt a POP in my thigh (right quad). I was able to walk off the field, and had no swelling or bruising. However it hurt to bend or raise my leg. After two months I was able to run normally and even sprint and kick the ball.
Avatar f tn A few months ago I started experiencing sharp side pain, sometime a spasm underneath my right ribs while running. I've been a jogger/runner my whole life and this is a new development for me. (female- late 20s) At first I decided to take it easy and run less, but after a few weeks I wanted to get back into running more frequently. I was able to push through some of the pain with hydration, stretching and breathing techniques.
Avatar m tn I have occasional pain in my left foot just in front of my ankle bone. When it starts to hurt (which is about every couple of weeks) I get a knot there about the size of a quarter. The pain is so bad it keeps me awake at night. I can't bare my weight on that foot. What could this be??
1627868 tn?1333886342 Hello all. Quick question...Does anyone here experience foot drop and use and an AFO? If so, how do you like it? Is it custom-made or a stock one? I got a stock one from the doctor a few weeks ago to try and I hate it! He said he can get me fitted for a custom one and I didn't want to fork over the money for it, but I think I might. I just don't know if it will be any better and if it will be worth it. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn did you say you were running on the beach? running on the sand could encourage awkward movements that may strain muscles or jar the skeletal system.....the same is true for very hard surfaces that don't allow the give of a real track.....also, make sure you have the appropriate foot gear for the surface you're running. for example, i use trail runners because i often run in the park....and remember to stretch and warm-up before you run.
Avatar f tn Is running on a treadmill for 30 mins a day a good way to start loosing weight ? I currently do no excersise at all.....and what is a good way to loose stomach weight ??? Help me please.im 17 and 166 lbs...im only 5 foot tall...and I look horrible...
Avatar n tn The amount of discoloration will be a good indication of the severity of the strain. Also, for a severe strain you will be able to feel the gap in the muscle where it tore. A visit to a doctor to get a referral for physical therapy would be helpful for getting going as quickly as possible. Until then, continue RICE, massage it to work the junk out of the area, wiggle your foot in circles of all sizes and directions without causing pain. Add strengthening and stretching very cautiously.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if you could actually pull or strain a throat muscle through getting choked like how you would get a dead leg when struck or pulling your hamstring running too hard.
Avatar m tn I still suffer from the same problem, a pain kind of on top of my foot where the foot meets my shin, but feels like its in the joint. Only hurst for 10 seconds or so first thing in the morning when I put weight on it. Don't want to see a orthopedic doctor if I don't absolutely have to as it will be quite expensive.
Avatar f tn Hypoparathyroidism too should be looked into apart from hypothyroidism. Low back strain, spondylotic changes in lumbo-sacral vertebrae, bone disease or bad posture should be looked into. Nerve infections as in lyme’s disease too should be investigated. Nerve conduction studies should be done along with blood tests for above mentioned disorders. Vitamin B12 deficiency too should be looked into. Multiple sclerosis is another possibility but less likely in your daughter’s case.
Avatar n tn I like to stay active so I try to go walking and running in town. Halfway back from my walk it hurt unbelievably bad. My hips would not stop popping. I noticed that if I even push down on my hips it feels extremely painful. This only happens when I walk, run, or even ride horse. I don't have any clue of whats causing it and can't decide if I need to go to the doctor for it. Please help!
