Avatar f tn I am not sure my now 6 year old son, Chris got a severe case of RSV when he was 5 weeks old. I also had a 20 month at home with a "cold" My 20 month old, Gary was never tested for RSV because he wasn't in distress. Chris got it again when he was 2 1/2 years old and it was the middle of summer.
Avatar f tn That neither was the case makes it highly likely that your daughter did not die of RSV infection of the lungs. With RVS infection of the central nervous system, involvement of the center that controls breathing might have been a factor. The tone of your message suggests to me that it might be important to your emotional well-being to know, with reasonable certainty, the cause(s) of your daughter’s death.
1382838 tn?1293440118 ohhh so painfulll HELP ME out to the ER
Avatar f tn They said she had RSV, they could either suck some snot out and test it and tell me she has RSV, or just tell me she has it and the treatment will be the same - her cough was also barky (croup like) at night, so she told me to wrap her up and sit outside and let her breathe in the cold air. I hope its not RSV, but if it is a mild case and isnt in her lungs and she is eating and drinking ok, they probably wont do anything anyway.
Avatar n tn He has all of the symptoms of RSV...they did the mucous test and said he has moderate case and that the ventolin and cortisone inhaler will help make him comfortable, although I am losing faith in his Dr. since I was the one that was showing the most concern for an answer. We have been in to see her once a week for 12 weeks...he has ran 2 very high fevers that lasted days each one, along with crying when coughing...is this a true diagnoses or is she covering her tracks for treatment?
Avatar f tn Understand your predicament and sympathize with you. It could be a rare case, as RSV as the name implies usually affects the lungs. But the hypoxia due to the lung infection caused by RSV can consequently affect the brain. It is difficult to comment beyond this. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar n tn Despite our best efforts to keep all germs away he developed a cold at about a week and a 1/2 that progressed to the point of him being admitted to the hospital with RSV. He is doing much better today. We have been here since Thursday and at first he was in the PICU but now we are on the floor. His main problems have been that he cannot be weaned from the oxygen and his breathing gets very fast at times. The doctors say he is doing better and that all we an do is let this run its course.

Avatar n tn Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is pretty much related to age. That is, as he ages, the frequency of RSV should progressively diminish.
Avatar n tn My husband and I lost our 4 1/2 month old daughter to RSV complicated by Bacterial Pneumonia. She was born healthy with no problems or complications. She had a cough since the first of October 2002. We took her to the doctor 3 times, Oct. 7th, Oct. 28 and & Dec. 26th. The doctor didn't treat her at all for any of the problems that we had advised him that she had been having. Her last visit was Dec . 26th. She had fever Christmas night and we took her the very next day.
Avatar n tn I had a coldsore on my bottom left lip. I sat down and the server took my drink order. As my server was bringing me my drink another customer came in and talked to the server. He mentioned to her that he had cut his hand and needed a band-aid. My server gave me my drink with a straw =still wrapped= sitting across the top of the glass, balanced. I took the straw out of the wrapper and took a sip of my soda. After my sip I looked down and I saw two small reddish stains on the straw wrapper.
1690584 tn?1340297472 Savannah was admitted to the hospital for RSV, Bronchitis, Ear Infection. Stayed until Saturday but was released earlier then she should have been due to Christmas. 7251241 tn?1389564212 I wont leave my home just in case I have one but my boyfriend tells me if it was going to happen it would of happened by now so I need to calm down but I just carnt, I refuse to believe this is anxiety as I am not having any form of panic attack or anxiety when this is all happening. :( I just cannot take anymore of this. Could this really be anxiety or am I on the verge of death? Sounds crazy, I'm not scared to die, am scared to be in pain especially having a heart attack.
Avatar n tn Right after she was born her doctor signed an order that she could get the RSV shots starting Nov. 1st. At her 1 month Appt on Sept 24th she weighed 7 pounds 8.4 ounces, and has been doing great, she will not be in daycare, we don't have any other kids, and her doctor didn't think she would need the shots because she is doing so great and insurance wouldn't cover them because we don't have 2 qualifing factors.
Avatar n tn My son is almost 7 months old. About 5 weeks ago he had come down with RSV. Although he had a mild case, the doctor had informed me of petichae and told me to keep an eye out. Shortly after I noticed a petchia on his leg. Doctor had looked and said one is normal time to time. For about 4 weeks after (RSV lingers) I noticed he started to get more. They were very small, light brown in color, and randomly placed on his legs, but wouldn't blanch with pressure.
Avatar f tn A teacher that I work with has a baby in the hospital with RSV. She emailed that if you baby has a cough with no fever, please take them to get checked for RSV. My DD is 6 months old and has had a chronic cough for a long time. It seems to get better and then starts all over again. I have taken to the doctor for it three times, the last time a week ago today. Everytime they check her really good and say it is just drainage from a cold. She has not had any fever and feels good.
490418 tn?1209523379 My 6yr old son died due to complication from RSV in Feb. 2008. He did get Synagis until his third winter. He was in the hospital for most of RSV season his first two years and did not get RSV. The next year we were denied Synagis due to the cost. He ended up on a vent in the PICU for a week. The following winter he spent 10 days in the hospital with RSV. This year he spent the first week in PICU and the next two week on Eccmo. He died on his 6th birthday. We never even heard of RSV IG.

They have him on antibiotics for infection for phnemonia. ANd they say the rsv has to run it's course. But of course he is getting treatments. Such as pounding, suctionning after his IPV treatments. He had already been in the NICU after giving birth to him for 3 1/2 weeks. He had premaure lungs. 35 weeks old at birth. Jaundice. 1 apnea spell.
