Avatar f tn Since his older brother had it when he was 9 months old it was so scary I dislike the winters because I fear every cold/cough they get. Has the RSV season begun already? My kids just started getting this cough, all of them have been just fine even my 3 yo until an hour ago...7pm. He has been breathing rapidly (53) since then but he doesn't have a fever or crying. He's sitting down now watching a video now.
490418 tn?1209523379 He did get Synagis until his third winter. He was in the hospital for most of RSV season his first two years and did not get RSV. The next year we were denied Synagis due to the cost. He ended up on a vent in the PICU for a week. The following winter he spent 10 days in the hospital with RSV. This year he spent the first week in PICU and the next two week on Eccmo. He died on his 6th birthday. We never even heard of RSV IG. Who is a candidate for this med?
284738 tn?1283106819 he just got his 3rd and last synagis until rsv season starts back up again in october. the good news is, rsv season is almost over. unfortunately, our little ones got it at the very end. :( i know it's still out there even when it's not in season, but it's not as bad... hope your little one gets better soon!!
Avatar m tn The findings provide important clues to how to develop a safe, effective vaccine against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), the main cause of wintertime hospital stays among babies and young children worldwide, Dr. Fernando P. Polack, the lead researcher on the study, told Reuters Health.

Avatar m tn Dear Laura Lee, Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a virus that can cause significant pulmonary as well as cardiac damage. Without having further information about your son, I can't say exactly what happened with him. I can say that myocarditis, which in children is typically due to a viral infection, causes damage to the heart most likely from both the virus itself as well as the body's immune response.
Avatar f tn Hi, respiratory syncytial virus is a very common virus that causes cold-like symptoms, but can lead to breathing difficulties. Those who are more prone to develop serious respiratory infections as a result of RSV include premature babies and those born with heart or lung problems. Regards.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
Avatar m tn ENTA) announced that it has expanded its research and development programs within the company’s core focus areas of virology and liver disease to include new programs to treat hepatitis B virus (HBV) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections. Enanta also announced that the first subject was dosed in a phase 1 clinical study with EDP-494, its cyclophilin inhibitor for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV).

192918 tn?1199451179 My boys too. Carson got pneumonia at 11 weeks, Cameron got RSV at 10 weeks. We were pretty much screwed from then on. Carson outgrew it by 3, the weren't sure he would due to family history and how bad it was. Around 2 it was much better and only triggered when he got sick, by 3 we were done and haven't had to neb anymore, he's 4 now and doing great. He's got a bad cold, but his airways are fine. Cameron is 9 months too and we have had a tough time with him.
Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???
551885 tn?1300383822 Last month was supposed to be the last but they called a couple of weeks ago and told us that half the kids that are coming in sick are testing positive for RSV and if Cassidy got it she would go back to the NICU again so I guess this month will be the last.
Avatar m tn Signs and symptoms of RSV include a respiratory illness with cold-like symptoms such asrunny or stuffy nose, decreased appetite,cough,sneezing,low-grade fever, wheezing, sore throat, andearache.Infants may have different or additional symptoms, includingirritability, decreased activity, sleepiness, breathing difficulties (apnea), andpoor feeding. It is also possible for a child to have RSV without a fever, as well.
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!
Avatar n tn I kept my preemies in relative isolation until they were 2 months adjusted age, but that's because we were entering cold season. When you do venture out, bring purell with you and ask folks to use it before handling the baby. Good luck!
Avatar f tn That's so scary!!!!!! I didn't even know what RSV was until I read forums about preemies going out. Now I'm freaking out!!! My son was born early and he always breathes fast then slow. He's working on regulating his breathing so I can't tell if that's his normal breathing or not. A lot of the symptoms are stuff that he does normally so it's extra scary. In Hawaii the rsv season is November to April and he was born November 14.
Avatar f tn I have an 8-month-old daughter who was perfectly healthy until she was 5-months-old and cold and flu season started. She has had a mix of viruses including RSV and two ear infections, therefore has been on prednisone twice and three antibiotics. The last week in February she came down with what we thought was another virus and began vomiting only at night. She did this for about 10 days, then it got better for a week and we thought she was in the clear.
Avatar n tn The most common cause of bronchiolitis is a virus called respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), most commonly occurring in epidemics in late fall and winter each year. RSV affects almost all infants. Bronchiolitis can be a severe disease, but only about 1% of affected children require hospitalization. Premature infants and infants with underlying heart and lung disease are most at risk for severe, even life-threatening infections.
Avatar n tn I would not worry so much about blood draws, RSV is a virus that should pass in a week or so usually, but it causes such an issue with breathing. I would check to see if they have a monitor for pulse ox- like Peek said, will check the oxygen levels. When they dip below 90 most Dr.'s will really watch it.
Avatar f tn my baby has RSV. I felt sick a little before we found out she had it and then a cople days later I got a cold do you think that could be it? and thank you.
Avatar f tn This could be asthma and it could be related to the respiratory syntactical virus (RSV). However, you or your son’s doctors should not assume that asthma or cough-variant asthma is the diagnosis. Other causes of nocturnal cough should be investigated including, but not limited to, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), chronic rhinitis and sinusitis and cystic fibrosis (CF). He may need to be seen by a pediatric pulmonologist.
Avatar f tn 4 weeks ago I noticed a yellowish bump on my throat. My child had RSV and a co-worker had strep which I had been exposed to. I also started a new CPAP machine therapy at a much higher pressure than I had previously. I had been feeling dizzy and had a mild sore throat and mailasie. 10 days ago I went to doctor who swabbed my throat and put me on antibiotic even though strep test was negative. I completed the treatment but the bump has not gone away.
