My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???

I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.

Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!

you also might want to ask your cardiologist or primary doctor about if your little one should recieve the synagis vaccine. this is to help lesson the effects of RSV (this is a viral infection) most kids can fight it off, if they are healthy to begin with. i am not sure if your little one would qualify. I wouldn't see why not. this infection from what I was toldif it affects newborns who are premmeis have a heart condition, lung issues and a low immune system.

Not that I am aware of,however about 6 months after I was diagnosed with HSV2 I developed Rheumatoid Arthritis which is an Autoimmune Disease I believe can be triggered by infection or a virus,it may have been coincidental it may not but I guess thats something I'll never know for sure ......

Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. (crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!

I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.) Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.

I would be really careful my daughter was a preemie and as soon as we got home she ended up back in the hospital with rsv because this is the time of year its out. And because she was so small she almost died and ended up in a childrens hospital for 5 weeks. It was horrible.

Oh he also has a little rash on his face which I know is common in babies that have a cold or other type of infection... the thing im worried about is RSV??? I think thats what its called. I read online it usually shows up between 4-6 week olds and he is 4 weeks... also im worried about the dark yellow mucus being an infection like pneunomia or something.. Gosh I hate the internet!!

Have you been to the doctor? RSV is quite prevalent this year. And cough that is a bit relentless is a symptom. Also, unfortunately, once our respiratory tract gets irritated, coughs can linger for quite a while after a virus has dissipated. Do you have a fever? I'd see a doctor for a cough that goes on for three weeks. I'm sure you are exhausted. Sleeping with a cough is tough.

Hi: You did not say what doctor you have seen already. It could be something that an infectious disease doctor could diagnose, but you are asking about this on the Leukemia website. Did someone suggest the possibility of Leukemia? Usually when a patient presents with a high WBC along with high platelets a bone marrow biopsy is done to rule out Leukemia. If its not a form of Leukemia, then they would do further testing to see what is causing this problem. How old is your daughter?

Our latest battle is against a primary infection of herpes simplex virus (oral). Dr. thinks she came into contact w/ someone w/ a coldsore? Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!

He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).

Then fever up to 104 and deydration the next took her to the ER they put her on IVs but could not find whats wrong. She has a history of RSV could this be what it is again. I dont know what o do?

Take her to doctor, her oxygen level might be low, there is RSV a virus children get, she needs to get checked!!
