So i was wondering if somebody was given Ribavirin for RSV outside the window period (two years after last unprotected incident exactly) and days later undergoes Elisa testing; is Ribavirin effective enough to decrease the immune system's exposure to HIV to a point in which it would blunt antibodies response, therefore leading to a false negative? or producing a false negative in any other way?
Hello, my fellow dragon-fighting friends. I haven't been on this board for so long I was surprised it remembered my user name and password. I've seen all of this excitement about Acai Berry and Colon Cleanse, etc. with regard to weight loss, much more energy and improved memory. I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Yes the new drugs boceprevir and telaprevir will include interferon and ribavirin as part of the treatment. If you respond quickly to treatment with these new drugs you may be able to treat for 24-28 weeks rather then the traditional 48 weeks for genotype 1 with just interferon and ribavirin.

I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.)
Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.
Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!
My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???

Yes. With the older Pegasys & Ribavirin treatment, people had to be virus free for about 10 years before claiming they were cured. With the new triple therapy (Pegasys, Ribavirin, and Incivek or Victrelis) I suspect people will be able to claim they are cured if they are virus free 6 months, or maybe a year, after completing treatment. Bottom Line: If someone has a Sustained Virological Response (SVR) they can be considered cured.

My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out.
Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
Hi and congratulations for being almost done. I'm almost 3 months post treatment with Sovaldi and Ribavirin. You are almost at the finish line and when your done, the meds remain in your system somewhat. Know the Ribavirin can be hanging around for up to 6 months. Not sure about the interferon. For me, I started to sleep much better around 1 month post meds. The more water you drink after treatment the sooner you will feel normal as the meds need to be flushed out.
