rsv

Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
649670 tn?1314366634 We took her to the ER Sunday morning and they tested her and took xrays. She had RSV, Bronchiolitis and a partially collapsed lung. Her pulse was like 200 and her oxygen level was in the lower 80's and should be at least a 92. She was admitted and finally we were able to come home on the 25th. She was very very sick and RSV is fatal. Needless to say I just called and switched Dr's offices.
377012 tn?1283965435 (crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
Avatar n tn My son is 10.5 mths old, for the last 12 weeks he has been suffering from RSV...for the first month we were give a bronchodialter, which helped for 2.5 weeks....finally after much persistance the pediatrician pegged him as having Irritable Airway Disease as well. Is this RAD? We have him on a few inhalers...what should we be looking for or is there any other treatment available? He has all of the symptoms of RSV...

Avatar n tn It usually manifest itself as a cold in adults and older children, but can cause serious problems in infants. RSV can cause lower respitory infections, breathing problems, pneumonia or even death. According to statistics, over 125,000 infants are hospitalized annually with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, resulting in more than 500 deaths. RSV can be contracted by placing your hand in your mouth after you have come in contact with an infected person or surface.
Avatar f tn I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?

Avatar f tn What is the cause and treatment of mouth odour in toddlers. My son of 20 months has mouth odour and its getting me worried. Please advice me.
Avatar f tn they start out with congestion and then a cough which has lead to bronchitis, pneumonia, and rsv?which out of those 6 months each one has had pneumonia, with rsv together and by itself?and my 2yearold has had bronchitis more? I keep taking em to their pediatrician and our hospitals ER and they just continue antibiotics with breathing treatments and steriods?what should i do?
Avatar f tn They said she had RSV, they could either suck some snot out and test it and tell me she has RSV, or just tell me she has it and the treatment will be the same - her cough was also barky (croup like) at night, so she told me to wrap her up and sit outside and let her breathe in the cold air. I hope its not RSV, but if it is a mild case and isnt in her lungs and she is eating and drinking ok, they probably wont do anything anyway.
Avatar n tn I feel for you. We were in the hospital twice with RSV last winter with our little guy. He has NO effects and the doctors have said nothing about long term effects. It's scary seeing them on oxygen and it's true, it just has to run it's course. They will probably keep you a few days after he IS well to monitor him. They did with our little guy anyway. Our little guy does have asthma but it's a mild case and I have never been told it was related to RSV.
Avatar n tn Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is pretty much related to age. That is, as he ages, the frequency of RSV should progressively diminish.
Avatar f tn Our doctor said antibiotics will not do anything for RSV. The also gave him nebuliser treatment to help with chest congestion. Make sure to keep up with fluids.
193609 tn?1292180293 They did a breathing treatment while we waited for the RSV test to come back. (he is getting the RSV vaccine) After the test came back negative we had to do another breathing treatment. They finally sent us home with a nebulizer and I have to give him a breathing treatment every 4 hours until we can get into the ped on monday!!! If its not one thing its another with this kid!!!!
Avatar n tn I will start treatment in 2004 but in the meantime I am looking for a group that will hopefully a) be uplifting with success stories (so I know there's hope) b) tell me what I can expect during treatment so I know how to prepare taking care of my two toddlers while on treatment and c) help advise how to cope with some of the side effects from the treatment.
368785 tn?1270432283 Diagnosed with RSV and Bronchiolitis.
1035252 tn?1427227833 Yep the title says it all. my daughter is driving me insane. she refuses to keep clothes on and I KNOW that we live in FL so our winters are mild right now (although we had several weeks of consistently below-freezing weather last winter) but the only way we can keep her clothed and warm at night is to either put her in the ONE long-sleeved onesie we have that fits her, or put a long-sleeved shirt on and put a normal onesie OVER that to keep her from removing it.
Avatar n tn From what I understand, RSV is a viral infection that is usually present in hospitals. My son has had it while in the hospital for an extended period. As with any just about every virus, RSV is infectius. RSV is not a life time infection or causes any lasting effect, as far as I know. Your grandson probubly had a feveral seizure. As a parent, I don't know for sure, but this is what I have thought RSV is.
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
Avatar f tn If a person does not have RSV can they cause an infant to get RSV just by having a common cold
Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.
