My daughter had a bad cold and I assuming he got it from his big sissy which is only 1 by the way but it's sad because how do u tell ur 1 old to stay away from there baby brother.
Avatar f tn can adults get RSV and how old are u when u stop being able to get it
Avatar f tn I always thought that most babies with RSV were hospitalized. Isnt there something else they could give him to improve his breathing. So confused and worried. It seems the hospital thinks this is no big deal.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar n tn I would not worry so much about blood draws, RSV is a virus that should pass in a week or so usually, but it causes such an issue with breathing. I would check to see if they have a monitor for pulse ox- like Peek said, will check the oxygen levels. When they dip below 90 most Dr.'s will really watch it.
Avatar f tn My son had rsv and the hospital kept him and thankfully we were released in a few hours because his breathing was better.its scary to do that at home, honestly they should of kept him he's only an infant ! Please contact a doctor I honestly don't think he should be home my son was two months old when he had it, and my husband ask if we can go home with him and they told us some pretty scary stuff .
Avatar f tn A teacher that I work with has a baby in the hospital with RSV. She emailed that if you baby has a cough with no fever, please take them to get checked for RSV. My DD is 6 months old and has had a chronic cough for a long time. It seems to get better and then starts all over again. I have taken to the doctor for it three times, the last time a week ago today. Everytime they check her really good and say it is just drainage from a cold. She has not had any fever and feels good.
Avatar m tn HCV, HBV, RSV, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Updates on all four wholly-owned programs will be presented on Wednesday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. PT at the 34th Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco. “Our successful HCV collaboration, our drug discovery expertise and our experience in virology resulted in our first marketed product with AbbVie, paritaprevir, which is part of the VIEKIRA PAK® combination HCV therapy,” commented Jay R. Luly, Ph.D.
Avatar n tn a cold will, and if you are implying your baby is premature then you need to call his or her pediatrician as premature babies are eprone to RSV which is a very dangerous respertory illness in children yet alone a premature infant.
220217 tn?1209679677 I know how hard RSV can be! I cant imagine having two babies with it!! Evan is sick again =( He just got over RSV(Bronchilitis) 4 weeks ago, and now he has his cough again. I hope it goes away soon!! Thats great about the shots!!! I wish we could have gotten them, but its definately good they give them to preemies!
Avatar f tn I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar n tn It usually manifest itself as a cold in adults and older children, but can cause serious problems in infants. RSV can cause lower respitory infections, breathing problems, pneumonia or even death. According to statistics, over 125,000 infants are hospitalized annually with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, resulting in more than 500 deaths. RSV can be contracted by placing your hand in your mouth after you have come in contact with an infected person or surface.
Avatar f tn Take her to doctor, her oxygen level might be low, there is RSV a virus children get, she needs to get checked!!
Avatar f tn they start out with congestion and then a cough which has lead to bronchitis, pneumonia, and rsv?which out of those 6 months each one has had pneumonia, with rsv together and by itself?and my 2yearold has had bronchitis more? I keep taking em to their pediatrician and our hospitals ER and they just continue antibiotics with breathing treatments and steriods?what should i do?
Avatar f tn They said she had RSV, they could either suck some snot out and test it and tell me she has RSV, or just tell me she has it and the treatment will be the same - her cough was also barky (croup like) at night, so she told me to wrap her up and sit outside and let her breathe in the cold air. I hope its not RSV, but if it is a mild case and isnt in her lungs and she is eating and drinking ok, they probably wont do anything anyway.
Avatar n tn From what I understand, RSV is a viral infection that is usually present in hospitals. My son has had it while in the hospital for an extended period. As with any just about every virus, RSV is infectius. RSV is not a life time infection or causes any lasting effect, as far as I know. Your grandson probubly had a feveral seizure. As a parent, I don't know for sure, but this is what I have thought RSV is.
Avatar f tn If a person does not have RSV can they cause an infant to get RSV just by having a common cold
Avatar n tn They seem to be ok, though my youngest has RSV....the heavy breathing that babies develop. Will newborn be at risk too? Thank you for your professional and unbiased help.
537497 tn?1292553056 Two of my daughters have this after having RSV when they were babies. One of my daughters was hospitalized. Both now have asthma, which is basically what reactive airway disease is. It is usually triggered by a virus, cold weather or exercise. To my knowledge it is not serious. I hope your little man gets better soon. Have you googled Reactive Airway Disease to get more info?
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
229857 tn?1319029907 Oh he also has a little rash on his face which I know is common in babies that have a cold or other type of infection... the thing im worried about is RSV??? I think thats what its called. I read online it usually shows up between 4-6 week olds and he is 4 weeks... also im worried about the dark yellow mucus being an infection like pneunomia or something.. Gosh I hate the internet!!
490418 tn?1209523379 My 6yr old son died due to complication from RSV in Feb. 2008. He did get Synagis until his third winter. He was in the hospital for most of RSV season his first two years and did not get RSV. The next year we were denied Synagis due to the cost. He ended up on a vent in the PICU for a week. The following winter he spent 10 days in the hospital with RSV. This year he spent the first week in PICU and the next two week on Eccmo. He died on his 6th birthday. We never even heard of RSV IG.
Avatar m tn I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.) Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.
