Common Questions and Answers about Rsv treatment guidelines

Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar n tn ) My average body temp is always below what guidelines declare is normal. If I am feverish but below temp guidelines am I contagious to anyone whose body temp is higher than mine?
Avatar m tn I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.) Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..

593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar n tn s what their opinion is on this subject, but there is some evidence that about half of newborns with WPW that are treated medically are symptomatic by the age of 5 years of age, so medical treatment is not always definitive, but a period of watchful waiting may be appropriate.
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
Avatar m tn Researchers have tried various drugs on people who do no need treatment (according to the latest guidelines) and discovered that the drugs do not help at all. That is why the latest guidelines recommend "no treatment" in many cases.
Avatar f tn While the treatment of choice is levothyroxine (I didn't see Synthroid mentioned in the document - simply L-thyroxine), options are left open to the treating physician, based on patient need. "The guidelines are not inclusive of all proper approaches or methods, or exclusive of others. the guidelines do not establish a standard of care, and specific outcomes are not guaranteed.
Avatar f tn It is important to get a proper diagnosis, so that he can get the right treatment. With good treatment his quality of life will improve.
Avatar n tn Doesn't Incevik have it's own guidelines for treatment? I'm not sure if it's fair to you to compare your results w/ SOC and apply that to your current treatment. I do hope the best outcome for you.
Avatar m tn Hello, my fellow dragon-fighting friends. I haven't been on this board for so long I was surprised it remembered my user name and password. I've seen all of this excitement about Acai Berry and Colon Cleanse, etc. with regard to weight loss, much more energy and improved memory. I haven't taken any yet because I wanted to do some research on it first, as any good HepC patient should do.
Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.

Avatar m tn Hi, are you sure you mentioned the laboratory attendant to do a HIV test? RSV ( Respiratory synctial virus) is an antibody test that detects antibodies against RSV virus thats related to a respiratory infection. Lets wait till other experts comment on your query.
1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!
377012 tn?1283965435 (crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
Avatar f tn Tamoxifen is always recommended following radiation after lumpectomy when the tumor is ER/PR+. The usual course of treatment is for 5 years. This is the standard medical treatment in cases as noted above ... I can't imagine it NOT being recommended by any publication; unless of course the tumor was found to be ER/PR neg. Then it would be of no value. Regards ....

Avatar m tn As opposed to European (EASL) 2012, Asian-Pacific (APASL) 2012, American (AASLD) 2009, and World Health Organisation (WHO) 2015 major guidelines for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis B, the following 3 guidelines are more strict on the conditions leading to necessity of treatment for Hepatitis B, HBeAg negative carriers: Canadian 2009, Japanese (JSH) 2013, and UK/British (NICE) 2013 guidelines are more "strict" when it comes to treatment of negative HBsAg patients, especially in the

428506 tn?1296557399 The controversial treatment guidelines recommend against re-treatment of Lyme patients who fail the recommended treatment, despite a lack of research supporting their claim that additional treatment is ineffective. Two studies (Fallon et al. 2008 Krupp et al. 2003) found that Lyme patients benefited from additional treatment. NatCapLyme is disappointed with the result of the IDSA's review of its treatment guidelines.
