973741 tn?1342342773 How about you and your family? Did you experience a LOT fewer colds this year and flu? I guess it is masking and social distance (and that I take a cleaning wipe in everywhere I go so I don't touch anything) is preventing the normal cold and flu season. Feels like a good thing but then I wonder if that means we'll be in for a worse season of these common colds/flu later . .. thoughts?
551885 tn?1300383822 Last month was supposed to be the last but they called a couple of weeks ago and told us that half the kids that are coming in sick are testing positive for RSV and if Cassidy got it she would go back to the NICU again so I guess this month will be the last.
Avatar f tn That's so scary!!!!!! I didn't even know what RSV was until I read forums about preemies going out. Now I'm freaking out!!! My son was born early and he always breathes fast then slow. He's working on regulating his breathing so I can't tell if that's his normal breathing or not. A lot of the symptoms are stuff that he does normally so it's extra scary. In Hawaii the rsv season is November to April and he was born November 14.
Avatar f tn 4 weeks ago I noticed a yellowish bump on my throat. My child had RSV and a co-worker had strep which I had been exposed to. I also started a new CPAP machine therapy at a much higher pressure than I had previously. I had been feeling dizzy and had a mild sore throat and mailasie. 10 days ago I went to doctor who swabbed my throat and put me on antibiotic even though strep test was negative. I completed the treatment but the bump has not gone away.
Avatar n tn The Synagis shot is injected into the leg muscle, once a month, during RSV season, which last from November thru April. The vaccine has been shown to be effective in preventing and/or reducing the severity of RSV infections and the number of hospitalizations each year. Infants who are a product of multiple births, have lung disease, low birth weight, heart disease, and those born prematurely are at a higher risk to contract a serious form of Resipritory Syncytial Virus.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!
Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???
593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
368461 tn?1291515587 Baby zpack is only 3 days and one does a day. I tell you - cold season is the PITS! They also gave her an inhaler to break up the RSV brochiliaititis. When we were at the DRs yesterday - the DR said "ok ready to check your ears" and she COVERED HER EARS. LOL. Then she let go and after the DR checked she said "ok all done!" and so Hayden CLAPPED and SMILED. We were laughing. It was like she understood. So now we keep asking "where are your ears".
Avatar f tn I would also have a few masks lying around for guests with a cough. Rsv season isn't quite over yet and it can be deadly to babies!
1556646 tn?1294521754 Every few months (4 times in 2010 and now the first is 2011) that lower eyelid swells up. It happens within minutes, seems to irritate him a little (he will then rub it) and goes away within a few hours. He doesn't have any known allergies. I'm starting to track his history/diet in the 24 hours leading up to these episodes, but nothing seems to show a pattern. It's always that eye, never the other, so I feel pretty sure it's tied to the bump somehow.
Avatar n tn there are shots that the babies get once a month called synagisis (not sure if I am spelling it right) but they get it to help LESSEN the affects of RSV. insurance companies do usually cover them the shots are once a month for the winter season and they get it for the first 2 years of their lives. my son got RSV when he was 5 weeks old, he didn't get his first shot yet and he was really really ill.
Avatar f tn Bad bad bad idea. It's your baby tell them no or through your own. It's flu season, rsv season, and gems are every where. I don't know a single pediatrician that would tell you i it's a good idea to bring your new born around a big crowed. Think of the safety of your child..
667829 tn?1297978123 Wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and tonnes of baby dust to those ttc and an uneventful pg, speedy and painless labor to those pg...... Baby Mackenzie has just turned 10 weeks old, time flies when you have a newborn / infant. For the first time ever she slept from 9pm - 3am.....very exciting! (I feel like celebrating).
Avatar f tn s not a high flu/RSV season. However they can still get sick. If they get sick there is nothing U can give them. Babies can get RSV which is a virus-but really just a common cold is extremely bad for babies. That's why they say to wash Ur hands before even touching the baby. My niece ending up sick when she was 3wks old-she was in the hospital for 4wks, she almost didn't make it. So to me it's not worth the risk. I do go out for walks or in our backyard w my newborns.
Avatar f tn Want to wish all of you a happy holiday.
2006603 tn?1331329327 I also had my youngest son in Dec, which is the start of rsv season. I waited to take him out longer, and I didn't take him out as often for that reason!
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
1347128 tn?1333810296 My 3 month baby had RSV when he was 6 weeks old, but since then, he has a phlegm sound, that is always there.
Avatar m tn Hi, are you sure you mentioned the laboratory attendant to do a HIV test? RSV ( Respiratory synctial virus) is an antibody test that detects antibodies against RSV virus thats related to a respiratory infection. Lets wait till other experts comment on your query.
1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!
377012 tn?1283965435 (crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
