284738 tn?1283106819 he just got his 3rd and last synagis until rsv season starts back up again in october. the good news is, rsv season is almost over. unfortunately, our little ones got it at the very end. :( i know it's still out there even when it's not in season, but it's not as bad... hope your little one gets better soon!!
490418 tn?1209523379 My 6yr old son died due to complication from RSV in Feb. 2008. He did get Synagis until his third winter. He was in the hospital for most of RSV season his first two years and did not get RSV. The next year we were denied Synagis due to the cost. He ended up on a vent in the PICU for a week. The following winter he spent 10 days in the hospital with RSV. This year he spent the first week in PICU and the next two week on Eccmo. He died on his 6th birthday. We never even heard of RSV IG.
Avatar m tn To be fair, myocarditis is not preventable, as far as we know. RSV infection, while preventable with giving a therapy called Synagis, is not indicated for patients with previous myocarditis. And, once contracted, is very difficult to treat. By the tone of your second question, I would recommend that, if you have questions about performance of a medical team, this is not the venue to discuss it.
377012 tn?1283965435 10-17-08-----started running back-to-back fevers of 104-105! 10-18-08-----took him to doc and RSV was positive with possible pneumonia!!! 10-19-08-----took him back to docs for another review and x-ray shows patches on his lungs, so he does have RSV and Pneumonia...on top of that he is getting a viral infection!!!! this past week and a 1/2 has been the worst of all, i just wish he could hurry up and get rid of all of this, but i must be patient and continue getting him better!
Avatar n tn The Synagis Vaccine can help protect your little ones from the effects of RSV. The Synagis shot is injected into the leg muscle, once a month, during RSV season, which last from November thru April. The vaccine has been shown to be effective in preventing and/or reducing the severity of RSV infections and the number of hospitalizations each year.
551885 tn?1300383822 Does anyone else have to bring their preemies for Synagis shots still? Last month was supposed to be the last but they called a couple of weeks ago and told us that half the kids that are coming in sick are testing positive for RSV and if Cassidy got it she would go back to the NICU again so I guess this month will be the last.
163557 tn?1244112942 in the PICU.. for RSV! He gets his synagis every month, so it really is a pretty mild case of it. They are just monitoring him just in case. I think he'll be able to come back home today. The nurse yesterday said she's never seen an RSV kid that healthy. He barely even has anything for them to suction out of him. And he hasn't required oxygen or anything. Hopefully he already hit his peak (which is supposed to be between days 3 and 5).

Avatar m tn Wife of 15+ years and I each have occasional oral lesions and never genial, engaged in mutual oral then next day I noticed an oral lesion. 1. Risk of her developing genital rsv 1 lesions? 2. She started acyclovir 800 mg 5 X daily about 20 after exposure, is this likely to help her avoid infection?

Avatar n tn He has still been battling his breathing problems and recently had RSV and croup. Thank God he was receiving Synagis shots to prevent RSV because I can only imagine how much worse it would have been. The doctors have discovered that he does have GERD and that he is also asthmatic. they also tested his blood work to see how well his immune system is working. Everything was low as expected and one was below normal.

Avatar f tn Our daughter is 20 months old. She had two heart defects at birth and had a really rough start. We notice that she is frequently ill. In the last 10-12 months (ever since she stopped receiving Synagis) she has had croup 8x, she's had several sinus/upper respiratory infections, 3 or 4 ear infections, a throat infection, a couple 24 hour fevers, and now, just this past week, all in one week she developed: ear infection, oral thrush, a vaginal yeast infection, and then a viral rash.
Avatar m tn Is their any concern that this started when he began his synagis injections. Does tracheal malaysia appear so long after intubation? What is tx. Is it life threatening. He is a twin and brother is symptom free. Please help because info. is very limmited.

Avatar f tn If a person does not have RSV can they cause an infant to get RSV just by having a common cold
Avatar f tn A teacher that I work with has a baby in the hospital with RSV. She emailed that if you baby has a cough with no fever, please take them to get checked for RSV. My DD is 6 months old and has had a chronic cough for a long time. It seems to get better and then starts all over again. I have taken to the doctor for it three times, the last time a week ago today. Everytime they check her really good and say it is just drainage from a cold. She has not had any fever and feels good.
