rsv

1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!
Avatar f tn my baby has RSV. I felt sick a little before we found out she had it and then a cople days later I got a cold do you think that could be it? and thank you.
Avatar n tn you also might want to ask your cardiologist or primary doctor about if your little one should recieve the synagis vaccine. this is to help lesson the effects of RSV (this is a viral infection) most kids can fight it off, if they are healthy to begin with. i am not sure if your little one would qualify. I wouldn't see why not. this infection from what I was toldif it affects newborns who are premmeis have a heart condition, lung issues and a low immune system.

593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
Avatar n tn When tracheomalacia is due to an anatomic abnormality or mass in children or adults the prognosis depends in large measure on surgical correction and how long the bronchial compression has been in place. The adult form, which is often due to connective tissue disorders or prolonged mechanical ventilation, is increasingly being treated with success by the placement of splints.
Avatar n tn 1) Does testing under any type of pneumonia viral/bacterial or RSV can give me a false negative? 2) Does being tested under viral pneumonia antivirals, RSV antivirals, iv antibiotics or any other pneumonia medication can also give me a false negative? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
1347128 tn?1333810296 My 3 month baby had RSV when he was 6 weeks old, but since then, he has a phlegm sound, that is always there.
Avatar m tn Hi, are you sure you mentioned the laboratory attendant to do a HIV test? RSV ( Respiratory synctial virus) is an antibody test that detects antibodies against RSV virus thats related to a respiratory infection. Lets wait till other experts comment on your query.
377012 tn?1283965435 (crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
9536744 tn?1414122031 Since babies do not have sinuses like adults then can get rsv which when caught early is easy to handle. If caught later the baby can end up in the hospital. My daughter had it just after she turned 1and we just had to use a nebulizer, but it happened to a friend of mines newborn and he ended up in the hospital for a few days.
Avatar m tn I brought him in on Friday morning to be checked out and it turns out he caught a virus called Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which is basically an infection of the lungs. Even writing this I break in tears to see my little one suffer so much. It's more like a common cold in adults but for kids his age is more like Bronchiolitis. I had to take him to the ER because of the fever and congestion.
Avatar f tn Then fever up to 104 and deydration the next took her to the ER they put her on IVs but could not find whats wrong. She has a history of RSV could this be what it is again. I dont know what o do?
503418 tn?1231098736 Since 1955, the AHA has made recommendations for prevention of infective endocarditis with antimicrobial prophylaxis before specific dental, gastrointestinal (GI), and genitourinary (GU) procedures in patients at risk for its development. However, many authorities and societies, as well as the conclusions of published studies, have questioned the efficacy of antimicrobial prophylaxis in most situations.
Avatar f tn Paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs), triptans, ergot alkaloids and anti-emetics are used for treatment of migraine. Topamax (topiramate) is indicated in adults for the prophylaxis of migraine attacks. Hormone therapy may help some women whose migraines seem to be linked to their menstrual cycle. In the meanwhile, you may try some stress management strategies, such as exercise, relaxation, and biofeedback to reduce the occurrence and severity of migraine attacks.

329165 tn?1515471990 Any Gastrointestinal or genitourinary surgical procedures may need antibacterial prophylaxis. This is however classified a s high, moderate and low risk. All prosthetic valves come under the high category and require prophylaxis. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hi, im a 25 year old South African male who recently had unprotected receptive intercourse with another male. My doctor at the time felt I was at risk so decided to put me on a prophylaxis for 4 weeks (commencing about 58 hours after the exposure). This was in January. After the prophylaxis ended, I tested negative at the end of February (rapid test).
