But since then, he has a phlegm sound and boogers, he has trouble breathing speacially during the night and when he wakes up. 1368291 tn?1299629804 The bad thing is on Friday I noticed Ryan getting a little stuffy. Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar f tn at his ribs. (this is called nasal flaring and retraction. (my kids can nasal gflare without being in respiratory distress. if he is making a noise like his is bearing down to poop (sorry I know that is gross) but hs isn't pooping when he is doing this. that is called grunting. most likely he is going to vomit and it will be very mucusy. Just try to keep his mose clear. also if he stops feeding and his diapers are dry he is propablly dehydrated.
593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
Avatar n tn hard to believe that he had no blue around his lips), then they put him on oxygen and then they did the nasal test for rsv. the rsv test came back several hours later; positive. my son was not overly sick but his cough was horrible and he was not quite himself. he ended up staying in the hospital for eight days. if the doctors had not acted as quickly and responsibly as they did with our son, we could have ended up as unfortunate as you.
Avatar m tn I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.) Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.
Avatar f tn My son has had a runny nose and nasal congestion for what seems like forever. He had RSV 5 months ago and the runny nose just never seemed to clear. I have taken him to several allergists and am really frustrated. They have all told me that a 1 year old wouldn't show signs of seasonal allergies this young. His skin test for other allergies (mold, dust, dairy) came back normal. His immune deficiency tests were fine too. We have tried Nasonex, Zyrtec and several rounds of antibiotics.
377012 tn?1283965435 on the 17th he started wheezing, breathing rapidly, running a fever of 102.6...18th ne started getting diarrhea, nasal congestion along with the other symptoms, last night he began vomiting and his cough sounds croupy....could this be from the flu shot or could it be pneumonia...any advice!!!!???????????
Avatar f tn 4 weeks ago I noticed a yellowish bump on my throat. My child had RSV and a co-worker had strep which I had been exposed to. I also started a new CPAP machine therapy at a much higher pressure than I had previously. I had been feeling dizzy and had a mild sore throat and mailasie. 10 days ago I went to doctor who swabbed my throat and put me on antibiotic even though strep test was negative. I completed the treatment but the bump has not gone away.
Avatar f tn RSV is one thing that I am really worried about. That is why I have taken Anna to the doctor 3 different times for the same cough. They always say her lungs are clear and have never even mentioned RSV to me. She feels fine during the day and is eating well. She has no fever and isn't seeming to have trouble breathing. Do you think she could still have RSV? My reason for not going back to the doctor is that where I live, flu and a serious stomach virus are really bad.
Avatar f tn I just had my son at 33 weeks 6 days. If anyone on here has had preemies before my question is how long after you brought baby home did you stay in the house? I didn't get a definite answer from my doctor or the hospital. He is now almost 3 weeks and doing well just above 6 pounds. I've heard other moms say right away is okay another said one year!!! I have errands and appointments plus my 5 year old has to be taken and picked up from school during the week.
Avatar f tn I just had my beautiful son on Nov 30 th! And already he is sick! My baby was taking to hospital 3days ago. And I found out he had RSV it's a viral affection u get from being around someone sick. My daughter had a bad cold and I assuming he got it from his big sissy which is only 1 by the way but it's sad because how do u tell ur 1 old to stay away from there baby brother.
Avatar f tn He has always been a little snorty/congested, but when he got a mild case of RSV in February the runny nose never seemed to go away. I have taken him to several allergists. He did have the skin test which came back negative. One doc. said he needed to be treated for nasal infections (each test seemed to show a different bacteria) but after several rounds of different antibiotics I didn't feel comfortable and left that doc.
Avatar n tn Some w/ ear inf., others with RSV, and some with bronchiolitis. My son has not been that sick. He has had two bouts of bronchiolitis (9mths apart)and a sinus infection, all in one year. He has had congestion that he can't get rid of and a cough ( not nearly as bad as others I have read). Although sometimes his cough makes him vomit. I guess my question is this.....Could he have been misdiagnosed? Or are there less severe symptoms that go along with RAD? Please help!
Avatar n tn Sometimes, it is possible to hear a sound that is like wheezing from a nasal obstruction. I would recommend speaking with your physician before attempting any home remedies.
Avatar f tn My son was born at 33 weeks and only weighed 1038grams (2 pound 4) he was on oxygen (nasal prongs) for 4 days when he was born but four months later he was RSV positive and on oxygen for 10 days, he is just starting to crawl now. He did cry for a split second before the next jolt of his arms but no longer cries when he has these jolts. They last about 15- 20 seconds. They seem to happen within the first hour of waking from a sleep. They dont happen daily but he has had two within half an hour.
Avatar n tn My son is 15 months old. At 4 weeks old he had RSV and pneumonia which he was hospitalized for. He began getting ear infections at about 2 months old. During this time he also had a lot of green discharge coming from his nose and would often have a foul smell. At about 10 months his ENT finally made the decision to place tubes in his ears. At this time the discharge coming from his nose had subsided and so no treatment was suggested.

1690584 tn?1340297472 Savannah was admitted to the hospital for RSV, Bronchitis, Ear Infection. Stayed until Saturday but was released earlier then she should have been due to Christmas. Her oxygen levels were still not staying up high but she is now doing better. She does have a partial collapse of the right lung and they want to no check her heart due to some blue around the mouth.
Avatar dr m tn One recent theory about the origin of chronic sinusitis is related to molds—that your nasal cavity is filled with normal mold spores that come in from your natural environment. Once it settles into your mucous membrane layer, it eventually gets slowly passed into your throat by the mucous blanket that gets pushed back into your throat.
Avatar m tn Can RSV cause cardiac arrest in a child with passed myocarditis and would he qualify to recieve rsv shot to prevent him from getting it.
Avatar f tn If a person does not have RSV can they cause an infant to get RSV just by having a common cold
Avatar f tn She called me asking if I could go over and help her because she has been home alone and her husband is gone for work for a week. I asked her what she was sick with and she has rsv which is really contagious. And I don't wanna risk me and my baby. I'm almost 37 weeks. So I told her I can't because I don't want to risk it for me and my baby. And I've been trying to find someone that's nit pregnant that would be willing to.
