Common Questions and Answers about Rsv kids symptoms

rsv

Avatar f tn RSV is a very serious complication with children under the age of 2, but it can affect anyone. It is a severe upper respiratory infection. If you've taken her to get checked out she has a clean bill of health, trust your docs! They take RSV very seriously. My newborn niece had RSV. She had a rattly cough in her lungs and had to have breathing treatments.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!
Avatar f tn RSV is one thing that I am really worried about. That is why I have taken Anna to the doctor 3 different times for the same cough. They always say her lungs are clear and have never even mentioned RSV to me. She feels fine during the day and is eating well. She has no fever and isn't seeming to have trouble breathing. Do you think she could still have RSV? My reason for not going back to the doctor is that where I live, flu and a serious stomach virus are really bad.
Avatar f tn I have errands and appointments plus my 5 year old has to be taken and picked up from school during the week. I know sick people and other kids are no no's for preemie to be around and hand sanitizing and washing is a must for anyone handling him. I just need advice. I've never had a preemie baby before. Just overly cautious.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?

Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar f tn That depends in the severity of the RSV. Right now my daughter (she's 18 months) has a very mild version of RSV.
Avatar n tn I have an 11 month old with rsv today is heart rate is avg 176bpm and his resp rate is 50 plus. This has been ongoing, he is hospitalized and on ventilation treatments. He is listless and we are worried, how long can a babies breathing and heart rate work this hard before he goes into distress.
Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???
593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
172826 tn?1423422956 Jaden has been coughing his lungs off the past two nights and Jett had bronchialitis and RSV 2 weeks ago, was better last week and now is so stuffed up he can't breathe- I took him in to the dr. today too- scares me when they are so little! I hope he's doing better! Long time no talk- with three kids I'm hardly on anymore!!! Hope you are doing well!
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
1347128 tn?1333810296 My 3 month baby had RSV when he was 6 weeks old, but since then, he has a phlegm sound, that is always there.
Avatar n tn you also might want to ask your cardiologist or primary doctor about if your little one should recieve the synagis vaccine. this is to help lesson the effects of RSV (this is a viral infection) most kids can fight it off, if they are healthy to begin with. i am not sure if your little one would qualify. I wouldn't see why not. this infection from what I was toldif it affects newborns who are premmeis have a heart condition, lung issues and a low immune system.
Avatar n tn My eleven year old daughter has experienced odd symptoms from about four weeks of age. It seems as though she gets everything that comes along. We are frustrated to say the least. The list seems long: -Elevated biliruben for 5 weeks at birth -RSV and double pneumonia at 6wks -ongoing colds and pneumonias (no less than annual) and strep rashes -RSV at age 2 again requiring hospitalization -Age 2-4 spontaneous vomitting on about a 30 day cycle.
148691 tn?1260194903 I'm so sorry RSV stinks. My little guy got RSV 2 winters ago and was in the hospital for over a week with it. Just keep a close eye on her and if you see things getting worse take her back in right away. It's common but can turn ugly quickly. Good luck.
Avatar f tn s similar to the respiratory viruses RSV (which is horrible, I have been through that with my daughter, she suffers from asthma as an result to that virus, as if today). It's got me concerned!!!!! Cases are rising by the minutes here in Georgia....Anybody else??????????
Avatar f tn I went to my 18 wk sonogram yesterdayand told doc my 14 month old has rsv. A respitory virus and that now i have cold like symptoms and a rash on my face. She said i coukd have parvo and they drew blood to find out for sure but i don't have results yet. She says my baby can become anemic and can need a blood transfusion while in the womb. I am so terrified.
Avatar f tn How did i end up taking care of 2 babies sick with rsv??! my brother and his babys mom had to leave to virginia for a "job" suposably a day ago they told my mom & SHE agreed to.
Avatar n tn Bronchiolitis is usually caused by a viral infection, most commonly respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV infections are responsible for more than half of all cases of bronchiolitis and are most widespread in the winter and early spring. ___________ It sounds like the relationship of bronchiolitis and asthma is still being studied. In the meantime, I would work to ease the other factors, such as exposure to second-hand cigarette smoke, that he might be exposed to. Good luck!
2189208 tn?1339572701 So my bf mom is coming tomorrow n I f'n hate her shr talked so much ish bout me n my bf it drives me crazy while I was pregnant with my daughter she was talking to a friend drunk in front of me n said ”if only we didnt have to deal with thr baby mom n just get the baby” I hated her after that while my daughter was sick in the hospital she was in disney land n got mad cuz she had to come back my daughter past away from rsv a day later!!
Avatar n tn having a simple clear runny nose and occasional cough that can be treated at home, to severe difficulty breathing that may require hospitalization. Other symptoms might include a low-grade fever, sore throat, headache, and irritability. Younger children, especially those under 2 or 3 years old, are most at risk for more severe symptoms, such as high fever, wheezing, difficulty breathing, a persistent cough, or apnea. I hope this helps.
973741 tn?1342342773 Masking and distancing has prevented colds and flu. Also, not having kids in school and not going to work. I also would guess more of us got the flu shot -- I got my first one ever. If masking does go away and distancing does go away, and that isn't going to happen any time soon, I imagine that yes, these diseases will come back.
