Avatar n tn hello, just to give some back ground, my son was hospialized when he was was 7 weeks with RSV and after that he stayed sick for about a year after, any cold he got turned into breathing treatments and bad ear infections. I thought he was getting better until i took him for his checkup, both of his ears are infected and they done blood work and found his anemic and his iron is really low.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 2 years old. About 9 months ago she got RSV and phemonia and was hospitalized. Since then she's been hospitalized 7 times. They thought she may have got asthma from the RSV which is common, but they don't think so anymore. She can't handle the common cold. Her O2 stats go down to 86, breaths per minute around 60. The olds she gets aren't even bad. It could just be a stuffy nose. They usually give her breathing treaments and steriods. Neither seem to really help.
Avatar m tn They are acting like normal two-year-olds. Most two-year-olds are not potty trained, so this is normal. And, even if they were not twins, their speech status would not be outside the normal range. The fact that they are twins makes their speech/language status even more understandable. Nothing you describe should invite worry.
490418 tn?1209523379 He did get Synagis until his third winter. He was in the hospital for most of RSV season his first two years and did not get RSV. The next year we were denied Synagis due to the cost. He ended up on a vent in the PICU for a week. The following winter he spent 10 days in the hospital with RSV. This year he spent the first week in PICU and the next two week on Eccmo. He died on his 6th birthday. We never even heard of RSV IG. Who is a candidate for this med?
Avatar n tn 1 no and the other one said they would feel very comfortable takeing him on, however they would love to sit down have a meeting with my husband and I before the end of that school year, get his medical records they were all trained in first aid and CPR, take any training deemed necessary to make sure that if he did run into trouble they would know what to do. train on any medical device he might have (only a nebulizer) and the list continues. We ahve had 3 meetings prior to him starting school.
Avatar f tn One year olds can sometimes put a foreign body in the nose which can cause runny nose. Check that out with an ENT. Also check out a deviated nasal septum. Hay fever and allergic rhinitis should be ruled out. Persistence of RSV should also be looked into. Normally the food allergens cause only gastric symptoms. However if the allergen is absorbed and reaches the airways it can cause hay fever and asthma like symptoms. Hope this helps.

1182923 tn?1279197025 My daughter was just behaving like an obnoxious 2 year old. She spent half her day either in her room or in time out. It seems we both had a bad day....
Avatar n tn Since then he gets sick nearly on a monthly basis with colds that settle in his lungs and ends up with RSV and/or pnuemonia. This year so far: January 09 he had double ear infection was on antibiotics. Feb. 09 he had RSV and pnuemonia right lung spend night in ICU due low oxygen saturation and he was on antiobiotics. Mar 09 he has pnuemonia in the left lung and is on antibiotics.....AGAIN. He always has a runny nose that eventually ends in colds, bronchitis, or some form of pulmonary problem.
229857 tn?1319029907 What can I do in the meantime? I have been using the little noses drops and suctioning everything out. Oh he also has a little rash on his face which I know is common in babies that have a cold or other type of infection... the thing im worried about is RSV??? I think thats what its called. I read online it usually shows up between 4-6 week olds and he is 4 weeks... also im worried about the dark yellow mucus being an infection like pneunomia or something.. Gosh I hate the internet!!

Avatar f tn No, this is not normal behavior. Two-year-olds are famous for saying 'No' in response to parental directions, and this requires consistent limit setting. They are also famous for tanturms, because they have not yet learned how to manage the frustraion that comes when their wishes are not fulfilled. But aggressive behavior of a physical sort is not to be regarded as normal.
284087 tn?1268275123 Well, prednisone is a steroid that can have many negative long-term affects if used too frequently (from what I gather from our pediatrician). I am in the same boat. My 2 year olds asthma seems to get worse all the time. He's had pneumonia 4 times and RSV once. He's had multiple rounds of antibiotics also for sinus infections. We've tried Claritan, Zyrtec, Nasonex, and now Singulair. The singular was working.
Avatar f tn You should ask his doctor if there is any sign of lung damage from the RSV. The good news is that, in most instances of RSV resulting in frequent bouts of croup or other respiratory infection, that frequent lung problems with fever are eventually “outgrown.” Definitely seek answers to your questions from his doctor and, if not satisfied with the responses, request consultation with a pediatric lung specialist.
Avatar n tn From what I understand, RSV is a viral infection that is usually present in hospitals. My son has had it while in the hospital for an extended period. As with any just about every virus, RSV is infectius. RSV is not a life time infection or causes any lasting effect, as far as I know. Your grandson probubly had a feveral seizure. As a parent, I don't know for sure, but this is what I have thought RSV is.
Avatar f tn I am not sure my now 6 year old son, Chris got a severe case of RSV when he was 5 weeks old. I also had a 20 month at home with a "cold" My 20 month old, Gary was never tested for RSV because he wasn't in distress. Chris got it again when he was 2 1/2 years old and it was the middle of summer.
676606 tn?1229937962 she has always seemed to be more sick then my other two children..at 7weeks she was hospitalized for RSV...and the months to follow it was illness after another...croup, fifth disease, rotroviruses, recurrent ear infections, and lots of "colds"....Last feb. started a long long road...she was seen at the er...with sinusitis and strep throat...the thing is she never got better...it is two weeks antibiotics for sinusitis, then a break from antibiotics at most 1 week...
Avatar f tn My two year old has been sick almost none stop over the past year. It seems as soon as antibotics get out of his system he get sick again. Since last June he has ran a temp at least once a month(usually more). He was treated for RSV about 2 weeks ago and is also being treated for asthma symptoms. He finished a round of antibotics about a week ago and as of last Friday has started running fever again. It generally runns between 99-101 but has recently started rising to 103-104.5(it was 104.
220217 tn?1209679677 I know how hard RSV can be! I cant imagine having two babies with it!! Evan is sick again =( He just got over RSV(Bronchilitis) 4 weeks ago, and now he has his cough again. 172411 tn?1287086265 ve worked in preschool for nearly twenty years and I see RSV every year in the kids - the doctor is right, it needs to work itself out - some of the children who end up in the hospital end up there due to parents who don't pay attention to symptoms and don't follow dr's advice or children with compromised immune systems and sometimes children who have existing respiratory issues such as asthma, etc.
Avatar f tn A teacher that I work with has a baby in the hospital with RSV. She emailed that if you baby has a cough with no fever, please take them to get checked for RSV. My DD is 6 months old and has had a chronic cough for a long time. It seems to get better and then starts all over again. I have taken to the doctor for it three times, the last time a week ago today. Everytime they check her really good and say it is just drainage from a cold. She has not had any fever and feels good.
Avatar f tn My son had rsv and the hospital kept him and thankfully we were released in a few hours because his breathing was better.its scary to do that at home, honestly they should of kept him he's only an infant ! Please contact a doctor I honestly don't think he should be home my son was two months old when he had it, and my husband ask if we can go home with him and they told us some pretty scary stuff .
Avatar m tn taught karate today 5 year olds are hard to teach sooo much stuff makes sence now
2151038 tn?1336486691 Take her to a pediatric ophthalmologist to make sure the eye is OK and if so then discuss it with your pediatrician. Not usual in terms of things two year olds do.
Avatar n tn I would have thought most normal, well balanced 14 year olds would want to run a mile from having to spend time with a 10 year old! In my experience anyway. It makes you ask the question 'what is the 14 year old getting out of the relationship?' What could a 10 year old child possibly add to a 14 year olds life? Nothing wholesome is springing into my mind.
Avatar f tn RSV infections generally occur during fall, winter, and early spring. The timing and severity of RSV circulation in a given community can vary from year to year. If other children in your community show symptoms then it is probable that the infection is present. Usually children show symptoms within 4 to 6 days of infection. Most will recover in 1 to 2 weeks. If his symptoms persist, you should consult your doctor. Regards.
Avatar f tn My daughter passed away when she was just over 1 year old and an autopsy was performed. The only thing found was RSV on her brain. Everything else, including heart and lungs were normal. I just want to know, should they not have also been able to find this in her lungs as well, if this is what she died from? Keep in mind, she was not sick prior to her death, and she was born full term....9lbs 6 1/2oz.
