Avatar f tn I just had my twins at 28 weeks. I also had the steroid shots to help protect their lungs. They're doing awesome and breathing on theirs on. Of course they'll be in the NICU for awhile but i know they're healthy.
Avatar f tn i had my first baby at 33 weeks. I had a placenta eruption and preclamsia. I ended up just bleeded out of no where went in to the hospital and had her the same day. She weighed 2lbs 11oz and had to stay in the nicu for 3 weeks.
551885 tn?1300383822 Last month was supposed to be the last but they called a couple of weeks ago and told us that half the kids that are coming in sick are testing positive for RSV and if Cassidy got it she would go back to the NICU again so I guess this month will be the last.
Avatar n tn My 2nd was born wt 36 weeks via emergency c section due to ruptured placenta. He spent no time in nicu and went home with me. He had to be hospitalized a few times for rsv, was allergic to milk protiens till 12 months old, has ezama but other than that very happy 2 year old. My 3rd was also born at 36 weeks we had to stay in hospital an extra day but she came home with me. She is very tiny and in the 35% for height, weight and head circumference. But she is a happy healthy 11 month old.
Avatar f tn I too had a premature baby but he came at 30 weeks weighing in at 3lb 4oz and was in the nicu for 1 month discharge weight was 4lbs. he had broken my water on my 27th week and I was in the hospital for 3 weeks on bed rest and on antibiotics to prevent infection but my other three kids needed their mom and I signed myself out like a fool which I regret now.
Avatar n tn It usually manifest itself as a cold in adults and older children, but can cause serious problems in infants. RSV can cause lower respitory infections, breathing problems, pneumonia or even death. According to statistics, over 125,000 infants are hospitalized annually with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, resulting in more than 500 deaths. RSV can be contracted by placing your hand in your mouth after you have come in contact with an infected person or surface.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???
Avatar f tn My son had rsv and the hospital kept him and thankfully we were released in a few hours because his breathing was better.its scary to do that at home, honestly they should of kept him he's only an infant ! Please contact a doctor I honestly don't think he should be home my son was two months old when he had it, and my husband ask if we can go home with him and they told us some pretty scary stuff .
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar f tn I know how you feel my daughter was very ill at two and was in and out of the hospital for three almost four years. She was in more than out, like a week in and a day or two out then back in again. I got my feel of the hospital and had my last one at a birthing center and took her home a few hrs after delivery, I plan to do the same for this one.
Avatar f tn t make it, but my son stayed in nicu for 50 days.I was in for four days 2 days after a c-section due to my daughters funeral..
Avatar f tn Any moms that have their newborns in the NICU? How are you coping with this situation?
Avatar n tn Your daughter will get the grasp of it all in due time, my son spent 13 days in the NICU before they released him, he had had to have 24 hours of only bottle feeds, rooting for food (awake, moving arms, sucking hands, crying..etc), no spitting up and had to gain weight.
Avatar f tn t produced enough surfactant on their own its often given to them in the nicu. The nicu may sound very frightening but really they take amazing care of these babies and you will be shocked to see that your almost 35 weeker is probably one of the bigger/ healthier babies there! Also in some instances if they know you will go early they will give you steroids too in order to boost the production of surfactant in baby's lungs.
Avatar f tn Why will she be in the nicu if u don't mind me asking. I went into labor at 26 weeks so I knew she would spend time in the nicu just didn't know how much depending how much longer she decided to stay in. There is really no advice to help deal with this I hated the feeling i was so depressed but I knew it was for the best and the nurses were better qualified than me if something went wrong. . I bought my pump and immediately started pumping.
Avatar f tn I'm 37 weeks but for the last three I've measured small and have had limited movement. They keep having me come in and do ultra sounds and non stress tests, they said my baby girl is in the lowest 10 percentile of weight does this mean when she's born she'll have to stay in the nicu Until she puts weight? Or will they let her come home?
Avatar f tn So I had my baby on Saturday and I went home Monday but my baby had to stay in the Nicu for a breathing problem. The doctor thinks it could be an infection in his lungs so he is on antibiotics for three days and then they will do another test. His chest x ray cane back clear and the nurse said hopefully I'll get to take him home soon. He's such a little trooper getting poked all the time. He smiles when I go see him and I s it there and let him sleep on my chest for hours.
Avatar f tn She basically told me that i will more than likely have the c-section @36 weeks but since the babies r so small then it might be @34 weeks and that no matter which date my babies will go in the NICU till what was supposed to be my due date! Im super hurt and upset @the thought that my babies wont come home with us i wont leave the hospital with out them! But im confused since they are small why would they take them earlier???
2170099 tn?1364144503 Well my son went to the nicu last night pkease keep him in your prayers he has an infection
Avatar n tn yes he did inhale the fluid during delivery. Xray show liquid in his lungs and his breathing is very rapid. He is going to be in NICU at least till Friday. I'm trying to look at the positive just soo hard when my baby cries I can't even pick him up to comfort him. I'm also not producing enough milk so they are supplementing with formula.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
3178444 tn?1348441829 Congratulations! I'm sure the doctors and nurses in the nicu will be taking good care of him. My daughter had to go to nicu for 5 days she had a sugar issue and was fine.
1347128 tn?1333810296 her doctor told me to get a humidifier and put it in the same room as the baby and turn or you could also turn on the hot water and get it steamy in there while you have your baby in there and that could help also, i did both of those thing with her and it helped alot!! also use salt water and squeeze it up your childs nose and suction it all out and do that before and after feedings and before bed also and when your baby wakes up . if your baby does not clear up in like 2.
377012 tn?1283965435 (crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!
