Avatar n tn Since then he gets sick nearly on a monthly basis with colds that settle in his lungs and ends up with RSV and/or pnuemonia. This year so far: January 09 he had double ear infection was on antibiotics. Feb. 09 he had RSV and pnuemonia right lung spend night in ICU due low oxygen saturation and he was on antiobiotics. Mar 09 he has pnuemonia in the left lung and is on antibiotics.....AGAIN. He always has a runny nose that eventually ends in colds, bronchitis, or some form of pulmonary problem.

Avatar m tn She had RSV, and hospitalized for 4 days in January. One month later she had Croup and Para Influenza. I periodically give her an inhaler, but I am wondering if she has asthma or allergies? No one is a smoker in the house, and there is NO history of asthma in the family... Do I need to see a specialist? HELP.
Avatar n tn I feel for you. We were in the hospital twice with RSV last winter with our little guy. He has NO effects and the doctors have said nothing about long term effects. It's scary seeing them on oxygen and it's true, it just has to run it's course. They will probably keep you a few days after he IS well to monitor him. They did with our little guy anyway. Our little guy does have asthma but it's a mild case and I have never been told it was related to RSV.
Avatar n tn Last year he had pneumonia 5 times between April06 and January 07, then a week long hospital stay in Feb for RSV.... since then they sent him for allergy testing and he scored allergies to just about every type of tree, grass, and mold.... so he is starting allergy shots along with Zyrtec, Singulair. He has been on the FloVent inhaler since march and has done really well with it.
Avatar n tn My child has never had an ear infection but runs high fevers all the time without answers. My biggest concern is the first week of January he was hospitalized for a temp of 105.5 and a deep purple rash. The ER did a catheder culture and blood but found nothing. Hes regular pediatric always says viral. My question is what would cause high fevers all the time with no answer and would you recommened a speacialist in pediartics?

Avatar n tn From what I understand, RSV is a viral infection that is usually present in hospitals. My son has had it while in the hospital for an extended period. As with any just about every virus, RSV is infectius. RSV is not a life time infection or causes any lasting effect, as far as I know. Your grandson probubly had a feveral seizure. As a parent, I don't know for sure, but this is what I have thought RSV is.
Avatar m tn Can RSV cause cardiac arrest in a child with passed myocarditis and would he qualify to recieve rsv shot to prevent him from getting it.
Avatar n tn Could be a relapse of lymphoma he said, although odd he never had lymphoma in the mediastinal nodes; However he had RSV and a resistant pneumonia in January that was near fatal; chest tubes and laproscopic surgery to remove all the pockets of infection that would not drain. The pneumonia was resistant to most drugs and he had to be on IV meds for 5 or 6 weeks.
Avatar n tn It usually manifest itself as a cold in adults and older children, but can cause serious problems in infants. RSV can cause lower respitory infections, breathing problems, pneumonia or even death. According to statistics, over 125,000 infants are hospitalized annually with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, resulting in more than 500 deaths. RSV can be contracted by placing your hand in your mouth after you have come in contact with an infected person or surface.
Avatar f tn If a person does not have RSV can they cause an infant to get RSV just by having a common cold
1690584 tn?1340297472 Savannah was admitted to the hospital for RSV, Bronchitis, Ear Infection. Stayed until Saturday but was released earlier then she should have been due to Christmas. Her oxygen levels were still not staying up high but she is now doing better. She does have a partial collapse of the right lung and they want to no check her heart due to some blue around the mouth.
490418 tn?1209523379 My 6yr old son died due to complication from RSV in Feb. 2008. He did get Synagis until his third winter. He was in the hospital for most of RSV season his first two years and did not get RSV. The next year we were denied Synagis due to the cost. He ended up on a vent in the PICU for a week. The following winter he spent 10 days in the hospital with RSV. This year he spent the first week in PICU and the next two week on Eccmo. He died on his 6th birthday. We never even heard of RSV IG.
Avatar f tn A teacher that I work with has a baby in the hospital with RSV. She emailed that if you baby has a cough with no fever, please take them to get checked for RSV. My DD is 6 months old and has had a chronic cough for a long time. It seems to get better and then starts all over again. I have taken to the doctor for it three times, the last time a week ago today. Everytime they check her really good and say it is just drainage from a cold. She has not had any fever and feels good.
Avatar f tn In the end, after begging the coroner to figure out what went wrong, and after enlightening him with the problems we had had with that sitter, and our suspicions with her, he basically told us she kept the same story, and that everything checked out fine in the autopsy, except that they found RSV on her brain. By the way, the police never contacted us, and to our knowledge, never questioned the sitter. I was never given my daughter's actual time of death, either.
Avatar f tn That depends in the severity of the RSV. Right now my daughter (she's 18 months) has a very mild version of RSV.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
765043 tn?1234583003 A cyst in his lever because of abuse from the hospital. The tube that was in his tummy got misplaced to his lever and eventually he formed a cyst. He has had to blood transfusions. One at the nicu after birth because of his anemia. One here because of the same reason. I'm hoping once he gets out of this he'll grow out of it. Like he was never sick. Im afraid he'll develope some kind of lung disease. My question to all this is that he got better. His lungs were clouded and cleared.
593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
Avatar f tn He had a viral infection (cough, fever) in mid December, then RSV with an ear infection in Early January, then another ear infection in January. In February he developed another ear infection, Pneumonia, and a bad viral infection also (he was hospitalized for possible sepsis). In March he has had two more ear infections, and now he is very croupy. While he was hospitalized in Feb, they discovered that his HGB - hemoglobin was 6.4, HCT - hemocrit was 25.2 and MVC was 55.1.
Avatar n tn Why would our pediatrician prescribe him xopenex, pulmicort, and amoxicillin all in the first visit and BEFORE the mucus sample lab test results even came back?
Avatar f tn My daughter passed away when she was just over 1 year old and an autopsy was performed. The only thing found was RSV on her brain. Everything else, including heart and lungs were normal. I just want to know, should they not have also been able to find this in her lungs as well, if this is what she died from? Keep in mind, she was not sick prior to her death, and she was born full term....9lbs 6 1/2oz.
