Common Questions and Answers about Rsv in a 6 month old

rsv

Avatar n tn chris has some medical issues, respiratory, cardiac and narrowing of his throat. when he was 5 weeks old and 2 1/2 years old he had RSV and he was always in the hospital with pneumonia and bron. he also has asthma. We had taken him to the allergist since his cardiologist was convinced he had allergies (they also can run bloodwork for allgeries) that was negative, however more concerning the the allergist/immune doctor was he had pneumonia several times already.
Avatar f tn One of my friends new born baby was diagnosed with rsv she is only a month old she is still in the hospital. And last night her 2 year old got bit by a dog. She was rushed to the er . She has to save surgery this morning if you can please say a prayer for this family.
Avatar f tn ve been reading your post and researching a bit to see if I can be of help, as your child sounds quite ill in his lower respiratory tract. The RSV can be a serious virus in young children. Were you told much about it? Did the pulmonologist (hopefully you're seeing a specialist!) explain why he/she thinks your son was having these difficulties? Usually a full term baby - even one with asthma doesn't have so many other respiratory disorders.
Avatar f tn I have a 6 month old baby girl. About two months ago she had an episode of eyes rolling back and liquid coming from nose and tears from eye. It happened a couple in a row. After that, she was pretty quiet (comparing to her normal behaviour) for about 5 days.We got her to her doctor, who said that everything is fine "babies can do weird things", and also we got her to ER, but again the doctor there, said she was ok. He suggested to do en EEG to rest our mind.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar f tn When my 4 year old had RSV when he was 5 weeks old, also on a vent for 11 days, (he had RSV a second time when he was 2 1/2 in the hospital 5 days no vent.) they said he could end up having asthma. Every time we go see the pulmonologist *sorry if I spelled it wrong, they ask how often does he couh at night. None, doen't cough in the day time either only when he is sick. So from what I was told and understand it does sound like he has asthma.

593530 tn?1263847957 She was hospitalized for 3 days and was being monitored for her oxygen levels. She is still coughing a lot and its hard to watch her. Doc said it can take upto a month or 2 to fully recover.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 3 months old and has caught a cold, she's already been to the doctor and we are doing all we can do but I can't help but wonder is it because I placed her crib by the window? Its hot during the day, cool at night, and then a tad cold in the morning. Do you think all these rapid weather changes affected her?
Avatar n tn I would highly suggest that you bring in reinforcements to help out because you sound like you do need it. Even a family friend or a babysitter for a few hours a night to get things settled may help out a lot. Good luck and take care.
Avatar f tn My 2 1/2 year old was in the hospital 6 times before she was a year old. First time, was apnea caused by reflux at 4 weeks, second and third were RSV, 4th was rotavirus and severe dehydration, 5th time was a UTI and 6th she was spiking fevers with no cause and high WBC. My 14 month old just had her 3rd stay 2 weeks ago. First was apnea from reflux, second was spiking high fevers with high WBC and third was horrible diaper rash that turned into staff infection.
Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???
Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.
Avatar f tn 6 weeks ago i brought my 11 month old son to er due to cough, cold, wheezing and high fever of 104.6. it was a saturday by the way. my son had an open PDA that was getting fix this month. Is oxygen stats were 96 when they r normaly 100. the docs did a exam and a culture from his nose for RSV. after a few hours they had us go home and I was told to keep fluids in him and fever down. I got a call an hour later saying he has RVS but he will be fine.
Avatar f tn I went to my 18 wk sonogram yesterdayand told doc my 14 month old has rsv. A respitory virus and that now i have cold like symptoms and a rash on my face. She said i coukd have parvo and they drew blood to find out for sure but i don't have results yet. She says my baby can become anemic and can need a blood transfusion while in the womb. I am so terrified.
Avatar f tn My son had rsv and the hospital kept him and thankfully we were released in a few hours because his breathing was better.its scary to do that at home, honestly they should of kept him he's only an infant ! Please contact a doctor I honestly don't think he should be home my son was two months old when he had it, and my husband ask if we can go home with him and they told us some pretty scary stuff .
1368291 tn?1299629804 Well last week my 6yr old was sick all week and before he got sick his cousins at his grandmother's house were. He actually got sick from them while staying there when I had Ryan. The bad thing is on Friday I noticed Ryan getting a little stuffy. Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary.
Avatar f tn I just had my son at 33 weeks 6 days. If anyone on here has had preemies before my question is how long after you brought baby home did you stay in the house? I didn't get a definite answer from my doctor or the hospital. He is now almost 3 weeks and doing well just above 6 pounds. I've heard other moms say right away is okay another said one year!!! I have errands and appointments plus my 5 year old has to be taken and picked up from school during the week.
Avatar f tn s the suffering that breaks my heart!!!!! I have a 7 year old, almost 6 year old, 4 and a half year old, 3 year old, 14 month old and am 33 weeks and 6 days pregnant..;) Still bugging though!!
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
Avatar m tn I have a four month old son who got RSV along with the whole household in early February. We live at altitude (7200) feet, but the baby did well--- one night of observation in the hospital, where his O2 sats were 96-97 when he was being held or was upright, but would fall when sleeping or laying down into the mid-80s. So, he went on oxygen. Two months later he is still failing every overnight oxygen study in order to get him off nighttime oxygen.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
