Avatar n tn you also might want to ask your cardiologist or primary doctor about if your little one should recieve the synagis vaccine. this is to help lesson the effects of RSV (this is a viral infection) most kids can fight it off, if they are healthy to begin with. i am not sure if your little one would qualify. I wouldn't see why not. this infection from what I was toldif it affects newborns who are premmeis have a heart condition, lung issues and a low immune system.

Avatar n tn My daughter was 7 weeks early. Since she was a premature the Dr.s made it mandatory she get RSV shots. This helps the child from getting ill, It sound like if your child did not get these shots he might be getting symptoms of RSV. Here are some I know of: having a simple clear runny nose and occasional cough that can be treated at home, to severe difficulty breathing that may require hospitalization. Other symptoms might include a low-grade fever, sore throat, headache, and irritability.
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..

Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. 593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar f tn s been very active since August but has left many children in the hospital and most are in the intensive care unit!!! An average of 4/5 days to stay, some even more. I am worried about my children at school a 2nd grader and a kindergartener. If they are exposed, so will my youngest children, 4 year old, 3 year old, 14 month old and I am almost 34 weeks pregnant. There is no cure, there is no shot and of course antibiotics do not work against any virus.
Avatar n tn My son Jack has been experiencing skin irritation for the last month or so. He started off out of the blue with red spots under the skin with very little "bump' to them. I thought for sure he was getting Chx Pox but that was not it, did some research in Mumps since it looked more like that. no go there. He still experiences itching around his neck, back and arms.. His eyes have dark circles under them as well.

Avatar f tn He has always been a little snorty/congested, but when he got a mild case of RSV in February the runny nose never seemed to go away. I have taken him to several allergists. He did have the skin test which came back negative. One doc. said he needed to be treated for nasal infections (each test seemed to show a different bacteria) but after several rounds of different antibiotics I didn't feel comfortable and left that doc.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.
Avatar f tn last week he did have a neuro-psych eval and they are very concerned as they feel it could be a small stroke or lack of O2 he had when he was 5 weeks old (had RSV with a O2 of 70) but they feel if it was due to lack of O2 then he would have been having issues right a long.. they did say it was showing that it is a neurological issue... I really am concerned and feaer this was a small stroke and he will havea another.. Thank you again for your information....
1347128 tn?1333810296 My 3 month baby had RSV when he was 6 weeks old, but since then, he has a phlegm sound, that is always there.
Avatar m tn Hi, are you sure you mentioned the laboratory attendant to do a HIV test? RSV ( Respiratory synctial virus) is an antibody test that detects antibodies against RSV virus thats related to a respiratory infection. Lets wait till other experts comment on your query.
1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!
Avatar f tn my baby has RSV. I felt sick a little before we found out she had it and then a cople days later I got a cold do you think that could be it? and thank you.
Avatar f tn Then fever up to 104 and deydration the next took her to the ER they put her on IVs but could not find whats wrong. She has a history of RSV could this be what it is again. I dont know what o do?
377012 tn?1283965435 uuggghhh it was like acid coming up green watery substance. my son was diagnosed with RSV yesterday and i was wondering if im not preggo then could the RSV affect me causing me to feel this way?????

Avatar m tn I brought him in on Friday morning to be checked out and it turns out he caught a virus called Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which is basically an infection of the lungs. Even writing this I break in tears to see my little one suffer so much. It's more like a common cold in adults but for kids his age is more like Bronchiolitis. I had to take him to the ER because of the fever and congestion.
Avatar f tn Take her to doctor, her oxygen level might be low, there is RSV a virus children get, she needs to get checked!!
Avatar f tn First time, was apnea caused by reflux at 4 weeks, second and third were RSV, 4th was rotavirus and severe dehydration, 5th time was a UTI and 6th she was spiking fevers with no cause and high WBC. My 14 month old just had her 3rd stay 2 weeks ago. First was apnea from reflux, second was spiking high fevers with high WBC and third was horrible diaper rash that turned into staff infection. They have both battled flu's, colds, RSV, bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, and high fevers.
Avatar n tn my 7month old twins just got over a bout of the RSV flue, since then they refuse to be put down!! we are up all night because they refuse to lie in their cribs alone... we tried to let them 'cry it out" but after 30 min of screaming we gave up. they are always unhappy unless they are being cuddeld. this is really hard to do cause i have a 2 year old to. one of me 3 of them.... outnumberd My poor husband is badly sleep deprived. any suggestions?
