Rsv and preemies

Common Questions and Answers about Rsv and preemies

rsv

Avatar f tn I would be really careful my daughter was a preemie and as soon as we got home she ended up back in the hospital with rsv because this is the time of year its out. And because she was so small she almost died and ended up in a childrens hospital for 5 weeks. It was horrible.
Avatar f tn CJ was very similar as a newborn, turns out when we all went to get out flu shots when he was an infant, he picked up RSV, which is essentially a persistent cold in infants and generally only causes problems with preemies or otherwise immunosuppressed infants. His simply presented as a persistent slew of cold symptoms and a chronic productive cough. Anyway, it caused me a great deal of grief, though admittedly CJ seemed less bothered by it than I was.
284738 tn?1283106819 he just got his 3rd and last synagis until rsv season starts back up again in october. the good news is, rsv season is almost over. unfortunately, our little ones got it at the very end. :( i know it's still out there even when it's not in season, but it's not as bad... hope your little one gets better soon!!
551885 tn?1300383822 Last month was supposed to be the last but they called a couple of weeks ago and told us that half the kids that are coming in sick are testing positive for RSV and if Cassidy got it she would go back to the NICU again so I guess this month will be the last.
220217 tn?1209679677 I loved Mylicon, but still didn't help my boys sleep, did quiet some of the screaming and crying. I hope it continues to work wonders for you! We have battled RSV, and the vaccine isn't offered to all kiddos. I think they only offer it to preemies or high risk kiddos, they have to really do some paperwork to push it through insurance. My boys were term and big, so we were not concerned. Carson got pneumonia at 11 weeks, Cameron got RSV at 10 weeks.
Avatar n tn Was told by my doctor and the hosp that my daughter needed a series of shots for rsv and to qualify she needed to be preemie which she was, being born at 33 wks and she will be going to daycare and there are other children in the home, we only needed 2 to qualify. My pediatrician sends the pt's out for it to a clinic as they dont do them at her office.
Avatar n tn My son had RSV when he was 4 months old, also had pnuemonia at 11 weeks and RSV again around 5 1/2 months. It was rough, but he had inhaled fluid at birth and has had problems with his breathing. When he had RSV they called me that day with the results though, so if they aren't in a big rush that's probably a good sign, or they are really backed up. All you can really do for it is nebulize them and watch out to make sure that they are breathing okay.
368785 tn?1270432283 Diagnosed with RSV and Bronchiolitis.
Avatar n tn My twin sister and I were preemies and had to stay in the hospital for about a month after we were born. We were always tall for our age until high school, played sports, and even walked early.
Avatar n tn He has all of the symptoms of RSV...they did the mucous test and said he has moderate case and that the ventolin and cortisone inhaler will help make him comfortable, although I am losing faith in his Dr. since I was the one that was showing the most concern for an answer. We have been in to see her once a week for 12 weeks...he has ran 2 very high fevers that lasted days each one, along with crying when coughing...is this a true diagnoses or is she covering her tracks for treatment?
1690584 tn?1340297472 Savannah was admitted to the hospital for RSV, Bronchitis, Ear Infection. Stayed until Saturday but was released earlier then she should have been due to Christmas. Her oxygen levels were still not staying up high but she is now doing better. She does have a partial collapse of the right lung and they want to no check her heart due to some blue around the mouth.
5752933 tn?1383533437 I had my daughter at 34 weeks due to low fluid. She weighed 5lbs 9.9oz and was completely fine and healthy.
Avatar f tn I had my son 5 days ago via c section cuz of preclamsia and he was 35 weeks and 4 days and he's still in the nicu but he's doing really good and everything cleared up pretty quick except the only thing is he needs to stay in there cuz he can't eat that well or latch on good so they need to sometimes feed him through a tube. My baby was a chunk at 7 lbs 6 oz and 18.
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks and I'm already having tons of Braxton hicks and they're really strong and I think my baby's gonna come earlier than expected I hope I make it atleast past 33 wks but if not, has anyone had a baby this early and he/she came out fine?
Avatar f tn Who has had a early delivery and had another baby after? What should i expect? Can it happen again and am i at high risk?
Avatar f tn We were in the NICU for 3 months. You can expect baby to get a couple blood transfusions and be on a ventilator for at least a month. Feeding tube for almost your whole stay. Any other questions just ask. :) everything will be fine. The alarms will scare the crap out of you every time. Dont worry. Nurse comes in every time it goes off.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a preemie? How much premature?.
Avatar f tn t due until late march and I had him December 17th
Avatar n tn Its difficult with preemies. All the books in print covering developmental milestones are developed for the full term baby. It can drive a parent nuts reading where they 'should' be and knowing that they are not. Many of us continue to beat our heads against a wall. I have preemie identical twin girls born at 31 weeks. They are now 6 months actual age, but probably 1 month behind on the average development milestones. Needless to say, I do not read the books anymore.
377012 tn?1283965435 10-17-08-----started running back-to-back fevers of 104-105! 10-18-08-----took him to doc and RSV was positive with possible pneumonia!!! 10-19-08-----took him back to docs for another review and x-ray shows patches on his lungs, so he does have RSV and Pneumonia...on top of that he is getting a viral infection!!!! this past week and a 1/2 has been the worst of all, i just wish he could hurry up and get rid of all of this, but i must be patient and continue getting him better!
172411 tn?1287086265 RSV is a virus that is quite common at this time of the year - do whatever the doctor tells you and your little one will be good - untreated and uncared for, RSV can go into pneumonia, etc - its a lot of respiratory symptoms, similar to a cold or flu and seems to effect infants most commonly - probably because they are so small and immune systems are weak - do what the doctor says - and your little guy will be ok
Avatar m tn Can RSV cause cardiac arrest in a child with passed myocarditis and would he qualify to recieve rsv shot to prevent him from getting it.
Avatar f tn I am not sure my now 6 year old son, Chris got a severe case of RSV when he was 5 weeks old. I also had a 20 month at home with a "cold" My 20 month old, Gary was never tested for RSV because he wasn't in distress. Chris got it again when he was 2 1/2 years old and it was the middle of summer.
Avatar f tn Mine were both preemies I carried 34 weeks with my daughter and 36 with my son and they are saying already I will probably deliver early with this one but I have issues with high BP towards the end of my pregnancy so I may just be me and my medical issues
