Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. What is the color and consistence of his stool? How many times a day? He is complaining (or you suspect) about school problems? Any abdominal pain, if yes, where exactly?
Avatar f tn Is there another condition, food allergy, or intolerance which can cause the villi to be blunted besides celiac or a gluten intolerance?
Avatar f tn Sorry this is way off of our normal subject, but I was just wondering the signs of lactose intolerance and whether or not you can get this as you get older. I am wondering because I have had abdominal pain for the past about 4 days. And I mean it really hurts. Also my back kind of where my kidneys are. I also get nausea a little and spent this morning vomiting. I went to the doctor and he said I was free of infection, and I am not pregnant so he does not know.
1099201 tn?1338180918 I just turned 80, and have had some digestive issues, such as nausea, bloating and diarrhea during the last few years, often in connection with my hobby of running ultramarathons, which suggested a late-life onset of lactose intolerance. As an experiment, I started using the chewable lactase supplements (Lactaid, etc.) before meals, and that seems to have taken care of the problem, which seems like prima facie evidence of LI, although I haven't been tested or diagnosed.
Avatar n tn no bad aftertaste, though. is that still lactose intolerance? or could it be some other kind of dairy protein allergy?
Avatar f tn i have lactose intolerance and i am on a diet where i cant eat anything with milk not even if thrs just a little milk in a cookie recipe but lately i have been feeling like throwing up after i take lactaide if i go out i take it i feel like i have the flew but its off and on
463897 tn?1468013750 Do you suffer from lactose intolerance? Does your baby have the symtpoms? Please join us for discussion on our new Lactose Intolerance Communitiy: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Lactose-Intolerance/show/1426 Looking forward to seeing you soon!
1448936 tn?1363206346 The test for lactose intolerance is a hydrogen breath test but there is no reason to do that, all you need to do is to eliminate 100% of all lactose from your diet for 2 weeks and if that helps then you have lactose intolerance and if that doesn't help then you don't have lactose intolerace. It is normal to test for parasites.
Avatar f tn I recently had a lactose intolerance breath test and it was negative. However, whenever I have lactose I feel bloated and constipated - more than usual (I have IBS-Constipation Type). Is it possible to not be lactose intolerant and still have difficulty digesting foods containing lactose? .
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Has he had his gall bladder removed? How long has this been going on for? Has he seen a doctor about this? It could be bacteria or lactose intolerance.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure whether constipation is associated with lactose intolerance. I have lactose intolerance and I certainly don't get constipated ;) I'm not as sensitive as you, as I can eat small amounts of lactose. If I eat too much lactose I get bloating, cramps, gas and diarrhea. Have you tried lactose-free milk? No lactose...only dairy. See how you react to that. Just don't buy Wal*Mart brand...I think they skimp on removing the lactose and leave some in the milk! LOL.
Avatar m tn I have also heard that Cataracts can get worse only for people with Lactose Intolerance. Although, I am of Japanese decent, I do not think I am Lactose Intolerant. My mother and father are not lactose intolerant. However, I am only 21 years old and I've heard lactose intolerance develops later on in life.
Avatar f tn But because of my intolerance i cant process dairy. Does anyone know what i should do? Or if the lactose intolerance goes away during pregnancy? And what affect could not having enough dairy have on the baby? Thanks everyone!
Avatar f tn I'm 29 weeks now and around 20 weeks I noticed that I would feel terrible eating my cornflakes and drinking milk....of course my biggest craving...Milk! The nausea, bloated feeling and constant burping feeling lasted about 4 hours after having it.I was told that most likely I was lactose intolerant due to pregnancy. In the mean time I have tried almond, soy milk and soy coconut milk......yucky. Best option to me is lactose free milk...not the same but better than nothing.
Avatar f tn Is it possible for a pregnancy to cause you to develop lactose intolerance? Ever since I entered my second trimester, every time I eat something with too much dairy it makes me vomit. I ate cheese fries and quesadillas and barely made it to the bathroom to puke, one morning I drank a glass of chocolate milk and was in the bathroom for an hour with terrible diarrhea shortly after and yesterday I had some ice cream and for the rest of the night I was nauseous. Has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar f tn Normally i have mild lactose intolerance( can have a little without it bring a problem)but when i'm pregnant it is really bad. I find i can have things with milk in if it is cooked.
Avatar f tn I developed all kinds of problems years ago, all at one time, but the most severe was extreme gastrointestinal distress, a white tongue with a layer of junk I could scrape off, severe tiredness, night sweats, joint pain, etc. The only thing many doctors could find was very severe lactose intolerance. I started taking several lactase tablets with everything I ate and cut back on anything with milk or milk products and my symptoms almost disappeared.
Avatar f tn It might be lactose intolerance. You can try cutting out all lactose to see if that helps.
Avatar n tn if we did not take a lot of dairy or lactose when we were younger its true the enzymes can be lower.but rem there is lactose hidden in a lot of foods so u were prob still getting the enzyme unless u were totally lactose free the {chesse and pizza--mac and chesse} will give most people indigestion anyway cause they are simply fast food. can u drink milk without getting diarrhea. if u are un sure u should have yourself tested u would be surprized how many people are lactose intolerent.
Avatar f tn I have lactose intolerance actually. If you do have lactose intolerance you have up to 12 grams of lactose before symptoms show up. The good news is butter and cheese are very low in lactose. And I love my butter and cheese! I can drink a glass of milk without symptoms but too much milk has me going to the bathroom! Yeah..TMI lol.
Avatar n tn sounds a LOT like lactose intolerance. I too am lactose intolerant, but can eat cheese and many other dairy products without side effects. With some foods, it depends on how much I eat. There's a pretty easy way to investigate if it is lactose intolerance without seeing a doctor. You can purchase lactaid pills and take them before eating/drinking things that normally upset your stomach. If you don't get symptoms, then you can be confident that it is indeed lactose intolerance.
Avatar f tn I have also developed an intolerance to lactose and gluten these past two years. I have eliminated all lactose and gluten from my diet. Lactose intake makes my lymph nodes swell. My question is: Syntroid does contain lactose, and it seems that just that little amount prevents me from stopping the swelling, and feeling better. Could I switch to another thyroid medication? Should I continue on Syntroid, and take some digestive enzymes for lactose at the same time?
