287246 tn?1318570063 I have a 22month old client with a trach and g-tube and she had rotavirus, this was like 2 weeks ago, causes diarrhea, i didnt go in to work while she had bcuz i didnt want to get anything on me and give it to Trinity. But ever since she has been in daycare she always get sick, now she has given her cold to me and LaDell, we both started taking vitamin c to hopefully prevent us from getting sick.
889551 tn?1416184483 Babies may be slightly more likely to be irritable, or to have mild, temporary diarrhea or vomiting after getting a dose of rotavirus vaccine than babies who did not get the vaccine. Rotavirus vaccine does not appear to cause any serious side effects.
Avatar f tn So I have my baby already but I am begging you all do research on vaccines before your baby arrives. I have my 8 week old girl and she just got her first set of shots and she's very sick after them she's been crying like never before her eyes are in so much pain her body gets so stiff. She has pooped at least 2 times every day since birth now she hasn't pooped since the vaccine it's been 4 days!!!!
8101930 tn?1420001456 My son is 2 months and just received his first shots yesterday including the rotavirus vaccine. I noticed that after his shots and today he has been pooping yellow colored like normal but it is very chunky. He is exclusively breast fed and always has a little bit of a seedy stool but this is very chunky. I'm Just curious if anyone knows if this is normal or not. Could it be from the rotavirus vaccine because they do ingest it. Thanks.
Avatar f tn My first baby spit up till almost 7 months old. And he was breastfed exclusively for 3 months then combination after that. I was only formula feed and spit up terribly my mom referred to it as projectile vomiting spit up. I eventually outgrew it. And my hubby who was exclusively breastfed for 15 months other than adding in solids spit up terribly also. Some babies just do even if there's nothing wrong. And were all fine now and no allergies. :-) hopefully she'll outgrow it soon.
Avatar f tn At 12 months, she began to fall of her growth curve. Shortly after her first birthday, she got rotavirus and became severely dehydrated. After 4 trips to the ER (they thought I only wanted a cure for the stomach flu), she was admitted for 5 days and closely monitored. She was 17.5 lbs at her 1 year check up, she lost 1 1/2 lbs from rotavirus at admittance and upon discharge she weighed 18 lbs. A pediatrician who is a specialist thought she had celiac disease but testing came back negative.
Avatar n tn After two weeks I think a Doctor visit is in order, it could have been a stomach bug or some allergy to food.Could you tell me what foods he is mainly fed ?
Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. What is the color and consistence of his stool? How many times a day? He is complaining (or you suspect) about school problems? Any abdominal pain, if yes, where exactly?
136689 tn?1419580447 she had rotavirus from birth but that is sorting it self out and has been putting on weight steadly so we are sort of hoping that the sweat test will come back negative do i have a glimmer of hope for a misdiagnoses?
Avatar m tn s safer to space out the vaccinations as opposed to piling 5 in one visit, per the CDC schedule. Is your baby in daycare? If in daycare, I think DTaP and HIB are good to start with. I did not do Rotavirus or Pc.
1770029 tn?1325802355 In children they can also get Rotavirus in the same manner. These viruses are seasonal like the flu and so are mistakenly called stomach flu or as a slang term. The Norovirus usually goes away in 2-3 days. You need to hydrate yourself perhaps with gatoraide. If you can eat have a banana or other food with potassium. Since you just have nausea it could be other things if you don't develop diarrhea. Food allergies, and other things can cause this too especially in the lack of fever.
Avatar f tn Six years ago he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and it extended from inside his rectum all the way up and around the first bend in his colon. He never took medication for it, because he's hardheaded - but he smokes, and the nicotine had kept him from ever having any flare-ups. Today he had a follow-up colonoscopy, and the doctor seemed very shocked to find that my husband has absolutely NO signs of ever having the ulcerative colitis.
Avatar m tn I live in the US and we do things different here. Firstly you have a choice whether to immunize and which ones you want. From the description you gave it does not sound like a bad reaction as far as fever, but the rash is not good. He may be allergic to the medication in the vaccine. Measles shot at 9 mos is early, They give it here in a combo at 15 mos old. Measles Mumps rubella. I am not sure since you are in a different country and there is a greater risk for measles there.

Avatar n tn Hello, my daughter is 22 months old and is in need of her third dose of prevnar. I am currently living in the dominican republic and one doctor here said, "she would need to receive the first and second dose again - much like when one doesn't obtain the Hep B shots on time..." and yet another doctor told me that, "she will just need a stronger dose to complete the prevnar innoculation".
Avatar f tn He also acted like he felt ok on Sun and Mon before he threw up on Tuesday a.m. He is otherwise healthy, UPD on immunizations and check ups.. not in childcare.he was term birth 8lbs.4 oz. No other sick faimily members. He had taken a swimming lesson the day he got sick with another child. The other child is not sick. I saw Pediatrician on Mon and Tues. they feel it is viral. No fever any of the time. UA looked good and not Rotavirus.
Avatar m tn Most children can keep up with the nutrients they lose through diarrhea if they increase the amount of food they take in. For babies, always continue breast-feeding or formula feeding. Many children develop mild and temporary lactose intolerance. Continuing dairy foods may make the diarrhea last longer, but it can also allow a faster return to a regular diet. Babies who eat solid foods may continue to do so as long as they can keep the food down.
Avatar n tn Background - Went to Mexico in beginning of may and came back with rotavirus (headache didn’t start until next month). On June 3rd, had a sudden headache started out of nowhere (not prone to headache) that gradually got worse through the day and days after. It felt similar to a bad tension headache with severe pressure in my head with nausea and hot flashes. Prior to the headache, I randomly had days of nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever and chills.
