458072 tn?1291415186 federal health authorities recommended … that doctors suspend using Rotarix, one of two vaccines licensed in the U.S. against rotavirus, saying the vaccine is contaminated with material from a pig virus,” CNN reports. The Rotarix vaccine, which is made by GlaxoSmithKline and was approved by the FDA in 2008, has already been given to about 1 million U.S. children along with 30 million worldwide. The vaccine was found to contain DNA from porcine circovirus 1.
Avatar n tn My 3 month old son has been having 9-10 green mucousy stools per day since he received his 2nd dose of the Rotavirus vaccine, Rotateq. It has been 10 days with no improvement. He is in a lot of pain before and during a bowel movement. Other than that, he seems perfectly fine. Is this a common side effect of the vaccine? How long will this last? What can I do to help him get better?
287246 tn?1318570063 I have a 22month old client with a trach and g-tube and she had rotavirus, this was like 2 weeks ago, causes diarrhea, i didnt go in to work while she had bcuz i didnt want to get anything on me and give it to Trinity. Avatar f tn Muscle pain and fatigue may occur in few. In very few cases there can be fever and swollen glands in the neck. This side effect may last for a few days following vaccination and improves. Rotavirus is also well tolerated. Side effects are very rare and easily treatable .Generally the benefits of vaccines outweigh the risks. Very serious side effects can happen with any vaccine but are very rare. I hope it helps. Take care and regards!
3227684 tn?1347373065 Hello everyone, I have always had the fear to vomit, which mainly implies fear to contract norovirus or rotavirus. I had gastroenteritis once during my childhood; since then, I didn't have it; at least, I didn't throw up. But the fear is always present, especially today, because I walked near a vomit pool on the floor of a public place. It was not very close to me; I was certainly at three to five meters from it. Is it possible that I catch the virus?
Avatar f tn The doctor also told me that my son is skinny because the rotavirus affected his vitamin absorption in the large intestine... So now he is tall but thin.. But that isn't a bad thing at all.. He is so smart but thin... So it has som effects but not all bad..
8101930 tn?1420001456 My son is 2 months and just received his first shots yesterday including the rotavirus vaccine. I noticed that after his shots and today he has been pooping yellow colored like normal but it is very chunky. He is exclusively breast fed and always has a little bit of a seedy stool but this is very chunky. I'm Just curious if anyone knows if this is normal or not. Could it be from the rotavirus vaccine because they do ingest it. Thanks.
Avatar m tn At 2 months she was to get dtap and rotavirus. The dtap vaccine that was requested was daptacel and I asked to double check. A couple days later it was realized that the pediarix combo vaccine (dtap, polio, and hep b) was given instead. I don't want to keep giving the combo and would rather give the daptacel. Do I continue on with dtap schedule using different brand or do I need to start over?
Avatar f tn So I have my baby already but I am begging you all do research on vaccines before your baby arrives. I have my 8 week old girl and she just got her first set of shots and she's very sick after them she's been crying like never before her eyes are in so much pain her body gets so stiff. She has pooped at least 2 times every day since birth now she hasn't pooped since the vaccine it's been 4 days!!!!
Avatar m tn If a child has diagnosed with congenital "absent IGF-1" and in early life was infected with giardia and rotavirus (4 month old immediately after weaning) does this affect the GI healing and repar after treating them?
889551 tn?1416184483 Babies may be slightly more likely to be irritable, or to have mild, temporary diarrhea or vomiting after getting a dose of rotavirus vaccine than babies who did not get the vaccine. Rotavirus vaccine does not appear to cause any serious side effects.
220217 tn?1209679677 What vaccinations are babies supposed to have by 2 months of age? The twins have had 1 Hep B and 1 RSV - they are going for their 2 month check up and I am guessing they will be getting some vaccinations. Just want to be prepared for what they will receive.
223520 tn?1221440283 So that was the first thing that got me upset. Then the nurse comes in and gets ready to give my son the rotavirus vaccine. I was like he has never had it. She proceeds to give it to him!! I was like um, can you ask the dr. about it? She was like fine. So he comes in and was like Im soo sorry!! I was like OMG! WHAT?! He was like we should have never given him the rotavirus vaccine, since he has never had it. He was like I assumed he had it before. I am freaking out!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn My first baby spit up till almost 7 months old. And he was breastfed exclusively for 3 months then combination after that. I was only formula feed and spit up terribly my mom referred to it as projectile vomiting spit up. I eventually outgrew it. And my hubby who was exclusively breastfed for 15 months other than adding in solids spit up terribly also. Some babies just do even if there's nothing wrong. And were all fine now and no allergies. :-) hopefully she'll outgrow it soon.
Avatar f tn I know many people say the pain and development of incoming teeth are like a shock to the system kind of, for some babies. (fever, diarrhea, etc). Some others say they are totally unrelated. So I want your opinions, and personal experiences with teething.. Do you think this could be contributing to his discomfort or perhaps he has just caught a little stomach bug? No fever, nothing major, no vomiting.
Avatar n tn a month, then returned. Can you tell me any ideas you may have? Would Rotavirus do this? Would a biopsy be the next step? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I don't know if it is a flu, rotavirus or some other kind of virus.. but an stomach/intestinal virus has been going around my area for the last month or so. Some people go it really bad and others just kinda bad. Jacob ended going to the ER and being put on IV fluids. I doubt it is the rotavirus, because I read somewhere that most adults are not effected by it because they have already been exposed to it earlier in their life. I hope you all are feeling better soon.
