Even in a 'normal' individual (is there such a thing?) antibiotics should be used sparingly and they're typically not. Far too many antibiotics are handed out much too easily. In my mind it's better to be safe than sorry. C.
Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment and oral antihistaminics like Benadryl or Zyrtec are also useful if there is any itching.
