Hi i can confirm that the cough syrup is robitussin chesty cough medicine that contains (guaifenesin) only.Its in a red and black box.I have never noticed my cervical mucus ever before and this was my first month on clomid.I took robitussin every morning and evening (5ml dose).You only take it after AF has ended and stop when you ovulate.I drank a glass of grapefruit juice every morning as its supposed to help CM too.

Just wanted to let everyone know. I did the Robitussin thing this past month. I guess I just got my BFP today. (Still in disbelief). I didn't just take it for the TTC part of it but I knew it would help and I needed some sort of decongestant at the same time. I guess you need the one that is just plain Robitussin (no MD). It may have helped me along..I'm not sure but here I am!

The robitussin is for a chesty cough and contains only GUAIFENESIN.I bought it from boots the chemist and it was in a red box.But i know there are other cough medicines that have Guaifenesin out there and are considerably cheaper,but i decided to stick with robitussin.If i need more i will try the cheaper option next time maybe(hoping there wont be a next time though).

I used Mucinex which has the same ingredient (guaifenesin) in it as Robitussin, but it does not taste bad because it is a pill. I used it for my 2nd round of Clomid and I am now 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant!!! I started it 3 days after my last Clomid pill and continued to take it until I knew I had ovulated. I took 600 mg once per day. I hope that helps!

I am not sure if this works or if this is a coincidence but I have to say the two times I used it I got pregnant. Try taking cough syrup. Just get the pain ole Robitussin with guaifenesin. Don't get it with any other active ingredients. The guaifenesin is the ingredient to loosen mucus. We generally use it for chest congerstion but it also loosens our lower region's mucus wich in turn help aid the sperm to its final goal...your egg.

yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.

There are several types of Robitussin (i.e. Robitussin DM, Robitussin C, Robitussin D, etc.) These all have additional active ingredients in them like Dextromethorphan HBr which is a cough suppressant and you do not need that. You just solely need Guaifenesin as the active ingredient. Also if you do not do well with elixirs you may want to take Mucinex instead. It is Guaifenesin as well in an oral tablet form.

iv been doing alot of looking on the internet about this sort of thing. there is a cough syrup called Robitussin (guaifenesin cough syrup) i know it sounds stupid because it is cough syrup, but as it has guaifenesin in it, it clears not only the mucas on your chest but also makes your cervical mucas thinner and runnier so the seman can swim through better. look it up on google. but make sure you get the one with guaifenesin in it as the other ones can dry up the cervical mucas .

D and they said it will be fine to take Robitussin. I took the cough-chest congestion and I feel a lot better.

But the fact is that this expectorant is used to loosen and thin mucus of a different kind too, called cervical mucus, in women. Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place. Generic versions are most likely available as well. Be sure to carefully inspect the ingredients list to make sure the ONLY active ingredient as guaifenesin. Any other ingredients can diminish the effect you are looking for.

But, to be safe, only take the plain robitussin. Honestly, something better than robitussin and completely natural and safe is 1tspoon honey and 1/4 tspoon cinnamon mixed together, you just eat it every like 4 hours. It really helps with cough.

I've read that taking plain old Robitussin with the ONLY active ingredient of Guaifenesin helps to thin out whatever cervical mucous you produce. It doesn't make you produce more but it is supposed to make your CM more sperm friendly by thinning it and therefore creating a better environment for the sperm to move and survive. You are supposed to take it (if you get the liquid form) by mouth two teaspoons three times a day.
