So often in the morning he will seem unfocused so will not do well during early 8am test. His doctor and I discussed trying Ritalin first in the morning and then adding Vyvanse, which is the reverse of what many people do. Since Ritalin is faster acting I'm hoping that it will kick in first ( is it within 30 minutes?) and then after it kicks in to give Vyvanse.
Are these episodes happening in a similar time frame? For example, do they tend to happen as the dose is wearing off and right before another dose, or do they tend to happen when the ritalin is at its strongest (about an hour after taking the medication)? There's something called a "rebound effect" where the child goes from having too much ritalin in his system to too little ritalin, and the behavior bounces around accordingly.

I walked to the library without stopping and back (with a bathroom break and grabbed a couple of books inbetween) with the walker. I wasn't able to do it without stopping a lot 2 weeks ago. Yahoo. Oh and I started PT exercises on Thursday. It went well. I'm still working on getting off the walker.
My son has been on ritalin for 12 months he is now 6 and the last week he has just developed eye movements that i was concerned might be a tic. He is extremely anxious , especially when on his medication in strange unfamiliar settings but does quite well at school and has lots of friends.
He has been out of routine of late with school holidays and 10 weeks ago had a increase in medication to 1 tab in the morning 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 at 3.30 pm.
My daughter just started taking 10mg of adderall xr and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the generic ritalin was. Does it take awhile for it to have it's full effect? This is only her third day on the medication. Any thoughts?

I also read, (in yahoo answers)PROVIGIL is non addictive and can help hide the lack of energy until I am back to myself. Im a fairly tough guy, tho broke down on my ride home from my gals house because I wanted to hide my WD. I feel like a jack#ss. I can handle it, the WD. Tho dont her and her son to see me like this. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage.
Hi, I am 54 years old, female. From around 1964 to 1969 I was put on Ritalin to control what they called a perceptual disorder/hyperactivity. I was also put on Phenobarbital for around 9 months when the Ritalin did not appear to be working. The Phenobarbital made me psychotic and prone to violent meltdowns. It was several months before anyone made the connection. I was then returned to Ritalin and remained on it until I reached puberty.
