Avatar f tn Why Ritalin, a medication that has side effects? I would suggest you try ginko biloba, a natural supplement that has been widely studied and has no side effects. I was once on a study with this herb for two years. There is absolutely no doubt as to its efficacy.
636964 tn?1222990085 The SENCO at my sons junior school told me that once, that these drugs won't work if the person doesn't have adhd/add. Avatar m tn One of the side effects of Ritalin is paresthesia, probably because of circulation problems to the extremities. This made me think that Ritalin also reduced blood flow to other parts of the body, possible the brain. This idea alarmed me, and made me search PubMed frantically. Here are a few studies I found: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1992832 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.

Avatar n tn Hello Between ages 8 and about 28 I took, daily, a prescribed dose of Ritalin (between 20 mg and 40/mg per day) to treat a learning deficit that has always clearly expressed itself. Ritalin was very effective and the noticeable side effects were minimal. However, around age 20 I began to notice erectile sustainability issues which became increasingly prevalent heading into my mid and late twenties.
Avatar f tn It helped her though with het add for awhile but then it seem not to be effective, but she still had the pains so we took her slowly off the meds and shes doing fine in school, has her moments but there minor. I found in alot of cases meds are not the only answer and sometimes never the answer.
Avatar n tn It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.

Avatar f tn I suffer from EDS (excessive daytime sleepiness) in addition to ADHD of the primarily inattentive type. I find vyvanse and/or Ritalin to be helpful in terms of making me alert and functional which of course has the secondary benefit of improving my executive function issues. With adderall not only am I more alert but it also has a marked impact on my executive function and task management in addition to the wakefulness.
Avatar f tn My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.
351317 tn?1204751871 Your problem probably originates from combination of Ritalin, which has "tics" (muscular spasms) among its side effects. Caffeine is just another stimulant. What do you think about dropping caffeine totally?
Avatar n tn Was the Ritalin for ADHD? you could try different forms of Methylphenidate in slow release to withdraw, ease symptoms, and reduce side effects.
Avatar n tn You may find that Florinef or Midodrine do more to alleviate your symptoms. That being said, I take Ritalin every four hours. As for the effects wearing off throughout the course of treatment, I've been told that taking a two week break every year can sort of "reset" your system. I've yet to do that myself, but may sometime in the near future. As for implantable devices, the usefulness of a pacemaker in Dysautonomia is an ongoing debate amount specialists.
Avatar m tn The one question I forgot to ask him was if Ritalin could cause my eye tic to spiral out of control in the future. I am worried because I am doing so well on Ritalin. will it not suddenly cause my tic to come back worse or cause other tics. Also My psychiatrist told me I am very sensitive to drugs. I cant understand this. I am on wonderful medication that is really helping me. I am on 50mg Ritalin and 75mg Effexor.

Avatar m tn Hi Joey, odd name for a mum, he can start by doing weight lifting, and lots of heavy work outs, for him the safest thing for his age would be Tribulus as its just a herb and would take around 8 weeks to get to full power. But just get lifting weights in a gym, and he or you need to tell his trainer why and what its for, and let them work on him.
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor about adderol, but he said he wasn't comfortable switching my meds and put me on lexapro to handle the side effects.. I wasn't completely honest with the amount I was taking though. And I think my pictures are coming up now? I can see at least one that I posted.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm 19 years old and just got diagnosed, as one would say, with ADD/ADHD rather recently. I was given a prescription for Concerta 36mg to be taken daily. This is the third week taking it and I have been noticing some odd side effects. On days when I take it in the morning and don't eat I feel nauseous and generally off, which I was warned about prior so it doesn't worry me as much. However, I have also noticed quite a difference in my mood.
