This means there must be a real doctor-patient relationship, which by most state laws requires a physical examination. Prescriptions written by "cyber doctors" relying on online questionnaires are not legitimate under the law.
Avatar f tn There definately is a difference between Ritalin and Adderall. Adderall is stronger. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall.
429700 tn?1308007823 This year I ended up with an insurance which covers generic Ritalin but not generic Adderall. Experts say the equivalent dose would be double the dose of Adderall, but my doctor would only give me 20 mg three times a day. That is the PDR maximum. It works, but at this dose is less effective than the Adderall. If I could choose the dose, I would go with 80 or 100 mg a day. Fortunately, I am not addiction prone with uncontrollable cravings.
Avatar f tn The cost of the medication is outrageous. Our doctor has written us new prescription for him for Adderall during the day and Ritilan for homework time if it is needed. My questions is, is there any significant side effects or dangers between the Concerta and Adderall? My husband is very reluctant to switch is medication and we are just trying to get some help with the questions we have.
1394098 tn?1385960134 Hi, Believe me I am very sympathetic. It is so hard to live with fatigue and deal with difficult issues. However the previous posters are correct. First and foremost ask your LIVER Dr. When I had an HMO they were giving out prescriptions for stuff knowing I had Hep. C. The NP and the GP assured me it wouldn't hurt my liver (pain meds, ritalin) I would go home and look up the drugs and throw the prescription away. Unless it is a doc who specializes in the liver, you take a risk with a GP.
Avatar m tn Virtually all the ADD/ADHD drugs on the market are comprised of methylphenidates (ie Concerta) or amphetamines (ie adderall). Although, some other drugs are occasionally proscribed in combination with behavioral therapy. Strattera is the exception to this. I would only caution you about Strattera because it is less studied than the other options. It's been around about 10-20 years.
Avatar f tn how long does ritalin take to work im on 10 mg but could take another 10 in the afternoon i was on 30 mg adderall i heard ritalin is stronger..im scared i will be allegic to ritalin as im afraid i will allergic to all new meds..and it is deiffernt than adderall pharmist said she has rarely heard of anyone being alletgic to these kinds of drugs but i thought i was having hard time breathing yesterday..does anyone else drink a couple beers with their ritalin.....
14631020 tn?1436545476 d try to get a different med, and/or a stronger prescription. For me, Adderall works about 8 hours with one morning dose. I certainly can tell when it wears off. It does not need to build up in the system over days or weeks, and I'm pretty sure that's also true of its competitors. So talk to your doctor about this.
Avatar n tn Yes. Adderall is probably the most dangerous of the drugs used for her ailment. Why didn't she stay on Ritalin? And, by the way, how old is she?
673186 tn?1225983925 the only problem was that the strattera made me really sick whenever i took it and it didnt help in anyway so my psychiatrist thought it best too try methylphenidate(ritalin). It helped alot and I have been on Focalin (Dexmethylphenidate-a isomer of ritalin that is a little more potent) for almost four months. For me I have to be extremely careful with what substances I take or am prescribed because of my extreme addictive personality.
Avatar n tn I can't answer about prozac and adderall specifically but it can go two ways. With some drugs it decreases their effectiveness. With other drugs it can cause overdose. Either way, it's not a good thing. Also, alcohol is a depressant so it will make depression worse.
Avatar n tn i did a 10 page study of drugs like this and ritalin and the effects it has on children, their body and their brain, it is nothing good to put a young child on. the dr can wean her from it though. at the time that i did this study, medical journals said that ritalin at that time, was the most misdiagnosed drug. that 95% of the WORLDS supply of it was used right here in the U.S.
Avatar m tn It is true that the prescription drugs that you have tried, as well as the street drugs temporarily influence some or all of the major neurotransmiters Serotonin, Dopamin and Norepinephrine and their brainreceptors Thats why they all did something for you. And as you must have noticed the production and function of these neurotransmitters influence mood and behavior, attention, focus and higher mental functions such as organizing tasks as well as many other areas of our bodily functions.
Avatar m tn I am a 48 year old male business person. I have been on Adderall for about one year. I have been able to focus much better (and not lose my keys), but my mind is shackled to"just the facts". My creative thinking ability has nearly dissappeared and I seem to be slow to respond to any question requiring more than a simple answer. Additionally, my positive attitude had departed also. For the past three weeks I have been trying Ritalin.
Avatar f tn i got a new dr and he canged me from adderall to methylin generic ritalin....do they have kinda same ingrediaents..it to be used for depresssion but he said i have some add symptoms also on on xanax and prozac,,he is upping my prozac...
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I have ADD, though some have said ADHD. It's been since I was a child that I tried medicines. I was on Ritalin, Dexadrine, Adderall, and I'm not sure what else. Now years later my new doctor is suggesting Concerta as the best to try. What have you tried? How have they all worked for you? Which do you prefer and why?
Avatar f tn Not taking any drugs besides my ritalin. Had been on it for years and changed to Adderall for a period then went back to ritalin. Could it be doing this?
Avatar f tn I think I maybe suffering from ADHD and am thinking about asking my doctor to prescribe me adderall or Ritalin to help me with consentration. I have never had problems with school before so this is really bothering me. I used to be a straight A and a couple B's student with a GPA of around 3.8. I'm afraid that my doctor won't prescribe me something for ADHD because of my anxiety and my prescription to Xanax.
Avatar f tn m a naturally anxious person.. and going on something like Adderall or Ritalin is out of the question... unless maybe if I have to drive somewhere that day. Is there any way to correct the condition, like with antidepresants?
636964 tn?1222990085 My husband recently decided that he had ADD so he went to his doctor and got prescribed Ritalin. Ever since he's been on it, he's been a zombie and emotionless. We barely make love anymore and he's also very sensative about things. Now I've heard that sometimes if you really don't have ADD, the medication will affect you different then for someone who really has it. I've discussed this problem several times with my husband but nothing has changed.
Avatar f tn I have ADD (no hyper activity). I have been on ritalin and adderall, not at the same time. I was initially on ritalin and was switch to addrall when I began to have problems with irregular heart beat. I don't recall having paranoia or delusions on either medication. Both medications helped with my concentration.
Avatar f tn Try Adderall XR...it's an extended-release capsule. Regular Adderall is an immediate-release tablet, which wears off after maybe 5 hours, i'd say. But Adderall XR should do the trick...
Avatar f tn Maybe the drop in BP is related to the switch from Adderall to Ritalin. Adderall is known to increases blood pressure by a lot so stopping it will of course drop your BP. I would continue to monitor your BP and see. If the blood pressure keeps getting lower then I would report back to your doctor but I'm pretty sure it is due to no more Adderall and new Ritalin.
Avatar n tn ALL of the drugs you mentioned, prescription and otherwise, have been implicated in arrhythmia, irregular heart beat and problems with both high and low blood pressure. Adderall and benzodiazepines are very tricky drugs to deal with.
