ritalin for migraines

I currently use Ritalin for ADD and it also helps depression. Does anyone have suggestions for supplementing this with another drug. I have heard wellbutrin works well with Ritalin but I would like to here from someone with experience. Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?

hello all, i just came accross this forum and would love to hear from others that have been suffering what may have helped them if at all as so far i have not found anything that does for 7 years we have been to specialists and so far nothing has helped or lessened the migraines, on average twice a week and if we are lucky can go for a week with no migraines he is only 9 and although his dad used to get them and his sister was hospitalized for it often i have been told it is heredetry I am hopi

Tried ritalin (normal), ritalin SR, Concerta and amphetamine. Concerta gave me something but felt something missing, normal ritalin was terrible, OD and came into "cocain waves" (very high, and straight to the bottom), amph gave me more but I didn´t eat, and felt a bit anxious, ritalin SR was, and is my favourite, works as a charm.

how much soma do u take?..the vicoden, klonopin and ritalin? to me...if ritalin is a stimulant for u, it is no wonder you take klonopin at night...educate urself on these drugs...sounds as if u crave gaba drugs... u r on a cocktail..ritalin to speed u up/possibly hydro/vikes too to motivate and move u in the daytime...then at night u need the klonopin and soma for sleep..ie... relaxation ....

I am also puzzled why any Doctor would want to give a child a drug like Ritalin simply for him to focus, this is exactly the problem that is mentioned in the above post ..

It depends when he is whiney and obsessive. Ritalin is only good for a maximum of 4 hours. If this is happening towards the end of this time, then this sounds like fairly normal adhd behavior. In that anxiety is a very normal co-occurance and he sounds pretty anxious. I think it is more likely that he is underdosed then overdosed, but really don't have enough info yet to tell.

m a naturally anxious person.. and going on something like Adderall or Ritalin is out of the question... unless maybe if I have to drive somewhere that day. Is there any way to correct the condition, like with antidepresants?

Sorry you've had bad side effects with the Ritalin--it worked great for me, with no side effects (except cheerfulness and faster typing!), although after a couple years of intermittent usage, it seemed to not work so well and sometimes even seemed to have the opposite effect. I then stopped taking it and eventually started Strattera, which has been great.

He takes Ritalin for the narcolepsy and clomipramine (generic for Anafranil) for the cataplexy. The Ritalin helps, but he can only take 3 pills a day (insurance won't approve more), and he really needs at least 2 more a day to stay awake and function. He has bad nightmares and yells out in his sleep when he does not have the clomipramine.

I know that they give adderol and ritalin for fatigue and concentration,which by the way are both schedule II class drugs. although they are both very effective for fatigue brain fog due to tx.but they have a very high abuse potential and in texas,where I live an MD can have a class v through class III schedule license, but in order to write for class II substances he must apply and be granted a special license to write for class a II substance.

YES,I HAVE BEEN ON RITALIN FOR FATIGUE,MY DR. HAD ME TAKE IT AT 8 AM AND THEN AGAIN AT NOON.IT SEEMED EFFECTIVE. My neuro put me on Ritalin for this bone crushing fatigue a week ago. I realize some medicines take a while to get into your system before they actually work and some medicines are fast acting and you get immediate results. The Ritalin has made me slightly more mentally aware, but I am still bone tired. Should I give it more time or call him and tell him it isn't working?

regarding the use of Ritalin for students. They talked about how beneficial it was for concentration and focus. It allowed many students to stay up longer to complete their studies. It went on to say that in controlled usage it was a great medication. They predicted that it will be more widely used for college students in particular. So yes, I would discuss the possibility that the drug may benefit you. It is certainly worth a try.

Ran out of my Ritalin for my ADHD 2 days ago and must say other then a bit tired I am not near as anxious as usual..So after 4 yrs being on Ritalin to calm my brain down and thinking I am starting to think I am much better off giving Ritalin a break.. I am sleeping better and not as anxious. I no I need this med to focus if I am working but since I am not I find it almost peaceful being off this med for 2 days?

ritalin is running my life its all i think about feel like i cant get enough, been on it for 3 yrs, just recently loss control sometimes takeing 200+ mg a day its going to kill me and im desperate to stop, anyone familiar with this monster

Since then, I have tried Provigil, which worked at first then seemed to make me even more tired! I was also tried on ritalin which did the same thing. Now I have been taking dextroamphetamine for about 2-1/2 months. At first it gave me incredible migraines and tension in my neck and shoulders. My doctor thinks that my body has adjusted to the medication because I no longer have these symptoms. Now my left lower eyelid twitches nonstop and has been for at least 3-4 weeks now.

I am on concerta/ritalin as I have adult ADHD, I have stopped taking the pill and this seems to have made no difference. I am 42 and not peri-menopausal. This has been going on for about 8 months...any ideas, as I don't seem to be able to predict them either!

t give up and I take ritalin 10mg 3x a day for the sleepyness I literally will fall asleep anywhere without it. I was on vyvanse first but had some.bad affect like excessive crying and such that neurologist said my meds were right all except the anxiety medication would cause migraines with my pth but... Tried Provigil, tried Ritalin, ended up on Strattera and it's been a perfect godsend for me! (I did not have trouble with Provigil and Ritalin--they helped a lot, although Provigil had an uncomfortable late-afternoon "letdown" effect for me), but after a year or two they did not work so well.

I have been taking Adderall for several years and I will admit that the pills put me in a "hypomanic" position BUT they allow me to get things done. I have a highly depressive form of BP and rarely ever go into any mania (my natural mania consists mostly of obsessive thoughts) so I just lie in bed most days.

I had to go see the same neurologist that ordered my sleep study for chronic migraines. I have dealt with migraines for years now, but all of a sudden, none of the prescribed meds are helping me. Anyhow, I did not realize just how many times I actually wake up at night until I found this app on my iPhone where I just click a button when I wake up and when I go back to sleep.

I take a whole in the morning and the half about 3 in the afternoon. I also take ritalin as prescribed daily. When I get my urine tests back every two weeks the lab results say that my levels are too low. It is coming up negative for nor buprenorphine. They say it could be there but it is under the cut off of 30 mg/ml .

I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage. I took the script anyway, and after filling it realized I am screwed for the month. I hardly can tell that I am taking an ADD medication when I take this weak Ritalin. I even took 80mg and felt nothing. I hate to do it, but I am going to call my Psych.

I took ritalin in late teens for adhd and developed epilepsy in early thirties. No history of seizures in family but my brother who also took ritalin in late teens also eveloped seizures as I did.
