Common Questions and Answers about Ritalin dosage study

ritalin

Avatar f tn I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage. I took the script anyway, and after filling it realized I am screwed for the month. I hardly can tell that I am taking an ADD medication when I take this weak Ritalin. I even took 80mg and felt nothing. I hate to do it, but I am going to call my Psych.
636964 tn?1222990085 Makes some hostile and aggressive but not everyone, mostly children have side effects, and a recent study suggested that Food supplement has equal efficacy of Ritalin, a multiple vitamin with antioxidants B Complex and Vit C would benifit those diagnosed with ADD and wont nhave the same effects as Ritalin.

794366 tn?1418009395 I recently had an overnight pulse oximetry test done and it revealed that during my sleep my oxygen dips into the low 80s and even as low as 77%. So they ordered a sleep study and I took it last Saturday night. I go for my sleep study results in 2 wks. I don't know if this oxygen issue during my sleep has anything with the resurgence of my deep depression. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn A friend gave me one 10mg Ritalin pill and said it would help me study for a test. Is this okay to take for a one time thing considering I do not have ADD/ADHD? I was told it would give me huge amounts of energy. My resting heart rate, for some reason, is usually around 80-95 bpm. Is this okay to drink with a monster energy drink? Any help is appreciated!

Avatar f tn has anyone had their child prescribed ritalin for this and has it been affective in helping their child, my child masturbates does this help with it too
Avatar n tn The drug I’m referring to is specifically Ritalin not Ritalin SR (sustained release). Ritalin is made in 5, 10 or 20 mg tablets. This question involve the dosage Ritalin is prescribed. I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues.
Avatar f tn However, recently I came across a study that showed that long term use of the med impairs brain cells so I stopped abruptly. It has been years since I have been completely off the drug and I noticed that I have lost alot of my personality. I used to be so bubbly talkative and hammy. I no longer possess any of those qualities anymore, among other issues and I feel that they may be due to the long term use of the drug.
460591 tn?1207150799 I just took 10 mg of Ritalin to help me study. I know this isn't good, but it's what I've chosen to do to read my 100+ pages before tomorrow. I was wondering if it is safe to mix 10 mg of Ritalin with 2mg of Suboxone? I don't think it will put my heart under a lot of stress... I know uppers and downers are bad to mix, but I don't think such a low dose should hurt anything... Anyone know for sure? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Even with a university degree and speaking 3 languages is very difficult finding a job. One year ago I decided to study a public examination to work in public employment. Around 15.000 people are taking this exam for only 700 vacancies. It's a very difficult exam. So for the last year I have been studying between 7 and 10 hours a day, weekends included. I guess that due to all my past drug addiction and the meds I still take, trazodone, metadone (only 15mg currently), pregabaline...
Avatar f tn My six year old son started taking a pretty low dose of Ritalin - he's doing great, except he seems to become "whiney" for lack of a better term.. he is much more emotional and prone to tears. Does this sound normal? He's been on the medication for about 5 weeks.
Avatar f tn My dr has recommended that my son take 5 mg of Ritalin in afternoon to help him focus with homework. Anyone have any experience with side effects in child and taking this?
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you visit your doctor and get gastric emptying study, esophageal motility study and barostatic study done to rule out the physical causes if any for dyspepsia , and discuss with him the above mentioned options. Best.
Avatar m tn For the past 30 years (I'm 53), my doctor had been treating me for "excessive daytime sleepiness" that was so bad that it was ruining my life; after a 2 night sleep/daytime nap study at a major university, the results were still "disorder or excessive sleepiness" or "similar to sleep-attack narcolepsy, but not REM-onset". No drug other than the stimulant ritalin helped, so I took that for almost 30 years and all was well.
Avatar n tn My daughter just started taking 10mg of adderall xr and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the generic ritalin was. Does it take awhile for it to have it's full effect? This is only her third day on the medication. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 5 although we knew it by the time he was 3. He takes Ritalin... 25 mg in the am... 20 mg @ noon and 10 mg after school. The Ritalin has worked VERY WELL at controlling impulsivity and bad behavior. So much so, that his teacher this year asked me why he was on Ritalin. However, it has made him very slow at completing assignments and many other things. He is very bright and makes very good grades.
Avatar m tn I saw my psychiatrist today and he told me Ritalin must be taken cautiously with patients with tics because it aggravates tics. I am 27 years old and have been taking Ritalin since I was about 13. I used to have a blinking eye tic but Ritalin didnt seem to aggravate it. However I got a funny spasm in my left eye and the doc said its fine. The one question I forgot to ask him was if Ritalin could cause my eye tic to spiral out of control in the future.
1447050 tn?1284582074 Have any of you done research on the affects of early administered Ritalin and another Hyper activity/attention disorder medications in children under the age of 13. And the long term effects of children with a highly caffeinated diets? My question is.. Ritalin is at its core an SSRI. So with already high serotonin levels in the body and brain with a high enough caffeine intake boosting already high serotonin in the body.
1453183 tn?1287849019 She found that half the youngsters in her study who had been treated with Ritalin had become regular smokers by age 17. Only 30 percent of those never treated smoked regularly. And 36 percent of adult cigarette smokers treated with Ritalin as children, compared with 2 percent of those who never smoked or took prescription stimulants, were dependent on cocaine as adults.
Avatar f tn Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms. On the other hand, my doc told me to take the Ritalin constantly. I tried to take it only when I needed to concentrate at work and not on days I don´t have to work. He told me it is not good to interrupt intake like that. I am very interested in knowing your experience with Adderal and Wellbutrin. Did your doctor check your clinical history to be sure that there is no high risk of seizures?
Avatar m tn I abused Ritalin snorting about 50 to 60 20mg pills over a 12 hour period, then the next day i was given a random urine test by my pain management doctor which is sent out to a lab. Ive heard that methylphenidate/ritalin wont be detected by most urine test but ive also heard that it will show up as methamphetamines, so i dont know what to believe.
Avatar f tn Are these episodes happening in a similar time frame? For example, do they tend to happen as the dose is wearing off and right before another dose, or do they tend to happen when the ritalin is at its strongest (about an hour after taking the medication)? There's something called a "rebound effect" where the child goes from having too much ritalin in his system to too little ritalin, and the behavior bounces around accordingly.
Avatar m tn I will be honest, I am a college student and once in a blue moon, before an exam she will give me one to help study and it does work wonders. My question is what are the long term effects she will have? I mean, it is a drug (Amphetamine Salts). Will she go through w/d's like from opiates where you get sick and such. Will she suffer from depression for a while?
