Common Questions and Answers about Ritalin and memory

ritalin

Avatar f tn I started researching trough the internet about ritalin addiction and effects when trying to quit, and I got really scared. I don't know what to do, but I am in serious trouble. I know writing this post and asking for solution is not the way to solve this problem. As I have mentioned, the exam is in one month so I must keep studying when with poor concentration. I obviously don't want to go to a detox center, not on this moment.
Avatar m tn And of course I had sleep apnea and got a cpap... I lost well over 120 lbs, am at my ideal body weight and stopped the ritalin on my own since the "sleep attacks" pretty much stopped...that was 1 year ago and I now have all of the classic adult ADHD symptoms and it's really bad. I'm pretty sure that I had this ADHD thing all along and that the ritalin was controlling the ADHD symptoms as well as the former sleep problem. Is this possible?
1523516 tn?1330044257 When I went to see the MS Specialist in January, he gave me Ritalin for my memory/focus and it's also supposed to help with fatigue, giving me more energy. I am thinking it must take a while for it to kick in. After taking it in the mornings I feel a bit dizzy and "out of it" and then I feel better about an hour or two later. Still very fatigued and focus is about the same, a bit better I guess.
Avatar f tn My doctor has prescribed to me provigil to relieve the feeling of constantly feeling tired and sleepy, but I am not sure it will help with memory retention and memory retrieval, so I was looking to also add something else to stabilize my memory. Please help I am desperate? I have tried ritalin, but I felt like a Zombie and I lost track of time to easy while on that, it also didn't help my memory retention or recall at all.
968560 tn?1307451498 I know that they give adderol and ritalin for fatigue and concentration, which by the way are both schedule II class drugs. although they are both very effective for fatigue brain fog due to tx.but they have a very high abuse potential and in texas, where I live an MD can have a class v through class III schedule license, but in order to write for class II substances he must apply and be granted a special license to write for class a II substance.
Avatar m tn however i am thinking about getting ritalin prescribed . i have a very good job where i am routinely drug tested via Urine and Hair. will ritalin casue a fasle positive drug test? half the internet sites say no the other half say yes.
Avatar n tn It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.
Avatar m tn I am on wonderful medication that is really helping me. I am on 50mg Ritalin and 75mg Effexor. However any new drug I get given knocks me and when I sometimes take my last dose of Ritalin my eyes start vibrating, all my muscles go tight and my eyes vibrate. This seems so unfair. Does this mean my body will eventually reject all meds. Please tell me this is not so. I am so happy on my medication.
Avatar n tn The five-week, at-home, computerized program helps many children and adults to enhance their working memory (and attentional) skills (see www.cogmed.com).
Avatar n tn I have been doing some research on adult-onset ADD/ADHD. I was never diagnosed as a child, though I have always had trouble concentrating. Over the past two years my memory problems have caused me to lose one job and continue to have trouble in others. I have weight problems because I eat for something to do. I cannot concentrate on ANYTHING. I constantly interrupt people when I speak to them.
Avatar f tn My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.
2083581 tn?1332307861 I currently use Ritalin for ADD and it also helps depression. Does anyone have suggestions for supplementing this with another drug. I have heard wellbutrin works well with Ritalin but I would like to here from someone with experience. Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?
351317 tn?1204751871 I have noticed when I drink coffee or soda with caffeine it often triggers a gag reflex that is pretty uncomfortable. I first noticed this when I around 7 or 8 and prescribed ritalin which had this side effect. Is this a stomach problem or maybe an anxiety problem.
Avatar m tn I routinely get random drug tested that is another issue I have. I know ritalin is a stimulant and may cause me to fail a drug test. I wold like to finish school also. Anyone have any solutions?
Avatar m tn I am a 30 year old who started taking ritalin and concerta (36mg - 72mg) on a regular basis for about 6 months about a year and a half ago. As a consequence I experienced erectile dysfunction. I stopped taking the meds and I still have erectile dysfunction. I have been off the meds for over a year now and I have not recovered my erectile function. I can only get a semi if I try really hard. I don't get morning boners any more and I don't get proper hard ons when watching porn either.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hi! I have central sleep apnea/asthma which started it seems 2 years ago with chronic fatigue and O2 levels of about 73% (my FEV1 scores are also 73%). I'm worried my brain cells are dying and I'm having severe chronic fatigue, memory/ADD loss, headaches and sometimes vertigo. I have a neu cyst in my clivus. I've tried bipap with O2 but it doesn't work that well and I'm getting 0% stage 3/4 sleep. What caused my sleep apnea, memory/ADD problem and what can I possibly do?
Avatar f tn You are just depressed, I shall make you a pointmet with a "shrink"! Not even willing to hear me out, giving me 5 min or less of his time, if I had CFS, I'd be lieing down in bed without able to come and see him!
Avatar n tn We live in Virginia, and my daughter's therapist recommended Cogmed Working Memory Training to help her with attention. My daughter is eleven years old and was diagnosed with ADHD three years ago. She does well on Ritalin LA, but continues to have some problems remembering what she has been told about immediate tasks. Her therapist said this represents a problem with working memory, and that she might do well with the Cogmed Working Memory Training.
Avatar m tn Yes, I feel like this a lot myself. My memory is bad. I make mistakes all the time and not even realizing I make them until it is way too late. My focus comes and goes. It's hard for me to enjoy things I like. I get frustrated with everything I do because I get confused so easily. I'm so stressed out by my illness and myself and feeling like I'm fighting a losing battle all the time. It really scares me that in five years who knows if there will be anything left of me.
10907499 tn?1413739044 s besides WalMart, financial anxiety and depression. This issue with my memory makes me question the surgery and side effects, and I am hoping to find anything out there that will be a light at the end of my tunnel so that I can succeed and be proud of myself and be happy and provide for my children and myself. The stress is eating away at me.
Avatar n tn I would ask, though, if your rehab included any thought control processes, such as meditation and breathing exercises and doing complicated mental games. Meditation might also even out your blood flow, as does exercise and yoga, which can help control migraines.
Avatar f tn I have been on 2 10/325 3 times a day since December since I broke my kneecap and found out I have a very rare wrist condition I was supposed to have surgery on on the 22 nd. I also have ADHD and been on Ritalin. I have weened myself down by a half a pill a day. Yesterday was the last one and I feel terrible. My back hurts I have no energy and I can't think straight. How long will this last and how bad will it be to come off the Ritalin?
