but I agree with severance...when I was in my 20's and thought I was invincible, as many people do in their 20's, we'd call Ritalin "the poor man's cocaine" and crush it up and snort it...I didn't do this that many times, because I'd speed myself up and do so much and get totally exhausted and sleep 24 hours afterward... that's why I stopped taking it, though many of friend's continued...

So then ritalin will make you remember things and concentrate but will also make you blaaah and emotionless?

however i am thinking about getting ritalin prescribed . i have a very good job where i am routinely drug tested via Urine and Hair. will ritalin casue a fasle positive drug test? half the internet sites say no the other half say yes.

It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.

I am on wonderful medication that is really helping me. I am on 50mg Ritalin and 75mg Effexor. However any new drug I get given knocks me and when I sometimes take my last dose of Ritalin my eyes start vibrating,all my muscles go tight and my eyes vibrate. This seems so unfair. Does this mean my body will eventually reject all meds. Please tell me this is not so. I am so happy on my medication.

My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.

I currently use Ritalin for ADD and it also helps depression. Does anyone have suggestions for supplementing this with another drug. I have heard wellbutrin works well with Ritalin but I would like to here from someone with experience. Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?

I have noticed when I drink coffee or soda with caffeine it often triggers a gag reflex that is pretty uncomfortable. I first noticed this when I around 7 or 8 and prescribed ritalin which had this side effect. Is this a stomach problem or maybe an anxiety problem.

I am a 30 year old who started taking ritalin and concerta (36mg - 72mg) on a regular basis for about 6 months about a year and a half ago. As a consequence I experienced erectile dysfunction. I stopped taking the meds and I still have erectile dysfunction. I have been off the meds for over a year now and I have not recovered my erectile function. I can only get a semi if I try really hard. I don't get morning boners any more and I don't get proper hard ons when watching porn either.

Hi, Believe me I am very sympathetic. It is so hard to live with fatigue and deal with difficult issues. However the previous posters are correct. First and foremost ask your LIVER Dr. When I had an HMO they were giving out prescriptions for stuff knowing I had Hep. C. The NP and the GP assured me it wouldn't hurt my liver (pain meds, ritalin) I would go home and look up the drugs and throw the prescription away. Unless it is a doc who specializes in the liver, you take a risk with a GP.

Hi Cyndi! I've only ever been on Ritalin, but I can tell you that I love it, it's such a huge help for me! It does sometimes make me a little jittery, but I think it does a great job of making me feel totally alert and awake :) I think it makes me feel happier, too - oh, and it does amazing things to your attention span, haha, three hour lectures suddenly became a breeze. Another plus: the cost!

I have been on 2 10/325 3 times a day since December since I broke my kneecap and found out I have a very rare wrist condition I was supposed to have surgery on on the 22 nd. I also have ADHD and been on Ritalin. I have weened myself down by a half a pill a day. Yesterday was the last one and I feel terrible. My back hurts I have no energy and I can't think straight. How long will this last and how bad will it be to come off the Ritalin?

ve been to 2 cardiologists and had 2 echos and multiple EKGs. I was assured that my heart was structurally sound and the PVCs were annoying but not dangerous. I felt okay with this answer and even though they bothered me, they didn't bother me as much after I saw 2 different cardiologists and got the same answer. Recently I have been put on Wellbutrin and Ritalin for my depression by my psychiatrist. I told him about my PVCs and he didn't seem concerned.

It did however cause my hair to fall out (not unusal for chemo-like medis) and it caused my liver function and hepatic function blood values to become elevated and abnormal so the new dr took me off of it. Prior to going on it, I was dx with reflux and a hiatal hernia. Methotrexate is notorious on the digestive system according to the research.

I have also heard of using Adderall - do you know anything about that and how it compares to Ritalin? I am feeling a bit better today, so I hope it keeps up. Time to take a break here and now and it does not bother me that I ran out? WOW..Remember Ritalin is like speed a stimulant but does help a ADHD person focus but Now I also see I am NOT as hyper off it..

I do have the ups and downs, Ritalin gives me a very minor boost and it only lasts about 2 1/2 hours. I will put a call in and see what he recommends. Thanks guys! You're the best!

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and I have A.D.D... The Ritalin (LA 30mg) is supposed to help me learn, or sit still at least, why do I get an ubandance of energy from it??

My name is Bob, and I have had ADHD as long as I have lived. I have taken Ritalin for most of my life, but my doctor recently switched my to Vyvanse. Because I had some Ritalin left, I tried it at the same time as the Vyvanse. It worked perfectly. The problem is that the DEA are quite strict, and they don't think that is cool, apparently. Some doctors, however, are fine with writing prescriptions for two ADHD drugs; I just have to find out who they are.

At first, I was feeling so much better but this evening my left arm and shoulder got really sore and then went numb. I took an extra ritalin last night on accident so it might be from that. Do you think the numbness is because of the extra ritalin or is it something I should be concerned about? thanks!
