217599 tn?1202850952 I don't know, but I notice I have OCD tendencies with myself. With PDD and "atypical" autism I'm sure there's going to be crossovers with other disability characteristics... I think when things deal with the brain, things are not black/white- this or that... If you think about it and the snowflake expression, the same applies to the human brain. Every brain is unique and there's a considerable range of how each part functions.
Avatar m tn could be physiological as one psych RN told me. Perhaps the head injury affected my ears as I have slight tinnitus and on and off ear aches. Your input will be considered (not as medical advice, of course). Thank you.
Avatar m tn ADD is a medical problem and the brain of a person with ADD functions differently from the brain of a person without ADD. The difficulties with attention, concentration, impulse control and activity level is part of their brain chemistry and thus, the way their brain functions. Medications can be the missing link. Having ADD is like living in a house with a window screen with large holes. You let in the fresh air, but cannot keep out the butterflies.
Avatar f tn I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms. On the other hand, my doc told me to take the Ritalin constantly. I tried to take it only when I needed to concentrate at work and not on days I don´t have to work. He told me it is not good to interrupt intake like that.
Avatar m tn For about maybe a year and a half now I have been expiercing some wierd sensations in the left side of my head in wich are hard to explain however I can say that they have gotten wierder as the times went on for example I had odd blood pressure feeling and feeling as if I was gonna pass out again only the left side they did not have some kind of pattern there were somtimes I didnt feel it like a day would go by then it would come back again wen I first started feeling, somthing it was just a pin
14631020 tn?1436545476 I do have the ups and downs, Ritalin gives me a very minor boost and it only lasts about 2 1/2 hours. I will put a call in and see what he recommends. Thanks guys! You're the best!
Avatar n tn This a buildup of these neurotransmitters at synapses in the brain. When nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are activated by amphetamine, the mental focus, the ability to stay awake, and the ability to concentrate is improved, which is helpful for those with hyperactivity disorders or narcolepsy.
Avatar m tn I think I aggravated my neck several times since the initial injury and developed some significant pain/stiffness in my upper back and neck. This stiffness/pain caused my head to hurt wherever it made contact with the pillow. I've seen two athletic therapist, two RMTs, a physiotherapist and a chiropractor. I've had some relief with these therapies but the issue has remained.
1497278 tn?1289708073 Ran out of my Ritalin for my ADHD 2 days ago and must say other then a bit tired I am not near as anxious as usual..So after 4 yrs being on Ritalin to calm my brain down and thinking I am starting to think I am much better off giving Ritalin a break.. I am sleeping better and not as anxious. I no I need this med to focus if I am working but since I am not I find it almost peaceful being off this med for 2 days?
Avatar n tn Both of them say that sometimes one med will work on one part of the brain and other meds will work on a different part of the brain. Thus, even though both can help with focus, one might work for one patient while the other work for a different patient.
Avatar n tn For others reading this post, people can have a brain injury (dead brain cells) though there is no sign on an MRI. Most people with brain injury are diagnosed this way and the correct specialist for testing and information is the neuropsychologist.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your post, the reason that I asked is that we have glands in the brain and if they are injured could effect personality or mood, this is what I found on the net. As for the medicine I really don't know as my son is not too keen of taking any medicine.Best regards to you and family.
Avatar n tn My father is recovering from a brain injury since May 25, 2007. The last inpatient hopital put him on Ambien and my family and I are wondering if he is addicted to the med now. He doesn't really have a sound sleep and constanly is gets up at night to urinate. Any suggestions.
Avatar f tn Get him outdoors as much as possible. And let him watch plenty of television and radio, and when they are not on play classical music lightly in the room. Music is tremendously soothing. Structure daily activities such as range-of-motion, and "play time" with toy soldiers, a model train set, and drawing with magic markers or finger painting. The human brain has tremendousd redundancy and the life-force is very magical.
Avatar n tn There are various mechanisms of recovery post brain injury. Initially the reduction of edema of brain tissue causes some improvement. You must consult the treating intensivist for the best judgment about your son in law’s condition. Take care.
Avatar f tn Ritalin is very addictive and no where I have ever read other wise. Do NOT self medicate if you think you have adhd plz go see your doctor and have them evaluate you .i would strongly suggest seen as you are already addicted to your pills you stay far away for another very addicting medication.
Avatar m tn like if i live a traumatic experience that reminds me of the one I lived when i was a child.. can my brain disjunct and can I be paralyzed.. like a stroke something?
Avatar m tn 20 years ago I head a serious brain injury. Ever since I have been able to function correctly. My scalp is restricted. Is it possible to lose a layer of the brain or fluid which has impaired me to living normally?
Avatar m tn Since it crosses blood brain barrier it can result in impaired perceptions and coordination, difficulty in thinking, learning, concentrating and problem solving, and memory will become poor. In a setting of head injury of the magnitude you face this can result in confusion regarding whether the symptoms if they appear are due to past injury or due to weed. Hence it is advisable not to smoke weed. We normally do not provide links.
1025211 tn?1251977152 This all started in the mid 90s. No doctor has diagnosed me. I had several MRIs of the brain and nothing was wrong than in 2006 I was diagnosed with progressive relapsing MS right from the start.
